Brooklyn Nets @ Milwaukee Bucks
Vegas Total: 243
Vegas Spread: Mil -1
This game has a massive implied total, but it is not on the main slate which stinks because this would be a great game to target as both teams want to push it and are going to look to score more than they necessarily care about defense this time of year. We’ll start with the Nets, Kyrie Irving had a dud last time out but still saw 35 minutes, I like the price slightly better on DraftKings, but due to the matchup, you can get there on both sites. Kevin Durant, you can make a case for on both sites, he played 33 minutes last time out and is starting to look like himself again. He’s more expensive on FanDuel but he helps fill a tough SF position. Outside of those two, it’s going to be tough for me to get much else from this game unless you want to take a flyer on guys like Joe Harris or Landry Shamet in hopes they can get hot from deep. You can make a case for DeAndre Jordan as well with Nic Claxton still out and Alize Johnson is in play here as well off the bench. Giannis Antetokounmpo is probable for this one, so I think he’ll suit up here and he is very much in play. He should do whatever he wants in this one. Jrue Holiday and Khris Middleton will go back to the backseat now that Giannis seems like he’s fully back, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, they both are still solid plays given the matchup. Then the trio of Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo, and Bobby Portis are GPP guys that you can get to here, but nobody that I’m making a priority. If you really want to get wild for GPPs, Pat Connaughton as well, but we’ve gotten enough value to open up over the past few weeks that I doubt we’ll need him here.
5-star play: Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo
4-star play: Joe Harris, Landry Shamet, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday
Deeper Value: Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo, Alize Johnson
GPP Sleeper: Alize Johnson
Portland Trail Blazers @ Boston Celtics
Vegas Total: 232
Vegas Spread: Bos -1.5
Starting with the Blazers, the price on Damian Lillard is far better on FanDuel and that’s probably where I would get my exposure to him. The matchup is really nice against this Celtics team that is playing fast and loose at the moment, so I don’t even mind him for DraftKings but that FanDuel price is tough to pass up. CJ McCollum has looked pretty solid as of late as well, he’s another guy where the price on FanDuel is my preference. Jusuf Nurkic came down to Earth last night, but they went small with the Pacers, but here again tonight it is a great matchup for him going up against this Celtics team. Then you can round the Blazers out with GPP options like Norman Powell and Robert Covington, it’s a great game to target for DFS, so they’re guys I’ll probably look to get some exposure on. From the Celtics, we know that Kemba Walker is doubtful here tonight, so that puts Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown into elite play territory and makes Payton Pritchard a really solid value. The sample size on Evan Fournier isn’t big enough, but the matchup is there tonight and I actually like him coming off the bench here. I do like Jaylen Brown quite a bit and Marcus Smart is right below him, however. Lastly, Robert Williams is around 1.3 fantasy points per minute and he is getting ramped back up to full minutes.
5-star play: Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum
4-star play: CJ McCollum, Norman Powell, Jaylen Brown, Robert Williams
Deeper Value: Payton Pritchard, Carmelo Anthony
GPP Sleeper: Payton Pritchard
Miami Heat @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: 212
Vegas Spread: Mia -5
From the Heat, Jimmy Butler comes into this one priced up on both sites but has looked good as of late, they need to rely on him with Herro still on the shelf. I think you can get to him here, I would think we get some decent value on this slate to make him work. The same can be said for Bam Adebayo, but I do like his price tag on DraftKings, there’s some meat on the bone there especially against this Hornets interior. Then you can round this team off with a few ancillary tournament pieces like Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn, and Goran Dragic. Now for the Hornets, the big news here is that LaMelo Ball is back but we’re unsure if he’ll suit up in the B2B, if he does he is a great price on FanDuel. He does take away from guys like Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham and Graham was scratched late in their last game. Miles Bridges has been playing out of his mind, and I’ll be targeting him in this matchup here tonight. He’s been really consistent ever since Gordon Hayward went down and has flashed a nice ceiling as well. The price on PJ Washington has come up, but for good reason, he’s playing big minutes and producing nicely in them. Devonte’ Graham is a GTD here, and if he is out then I’ll have even more interest in LaMelo and Rozier.
5-star play: Jimmy Butler
4-star play: Bam Adebayo, Goran Dragic, Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball, PJ Washington
Deeper Value: Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn
GPP Sleeper: Miles Bridges
Sacramento Kings @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Dal -7
From the Kings, De’Aaron Fox will continue to miss here along with Harrison Barnes so that opens up some minutes for other guys here tonight. I’ll continue to fire up Tyrese Haliburton with Fox out, he’s been much more consistent and should continue to start here. Buddy Hield has been really good over his last three games as well, he sees an increase with Fox out too given they need more offensive production from the rest of these guys. Lastly, Richaun Holmes got his minutes back up to 25 last game, I would think he gets that up to around 30 here. Marvin Bagley has also returned and I’d expect him to see around 20-25 minutes here which could pay off his price tag on FanDuel. We’re going to need some news around this team as Luka and Kristaps both come in as questionable along with Dorian Finney-Smith and Josh Richardson. For the moment I’ll operate under the assumption that they both play, but keep an eye on that Breaking News Feed. Luka Doncic is in better form over the past week or two which is nice to see and is coming off a monster game last night. If Kristaps Porzingis were to miss Luka would jump into elite play territory if he isn’t already there. I do have a little more interest in some of the other guys on this team than I normally would if Josh Richardson were to miss. I loaded up on Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson in this spot the other night, so I think you can go right back to them in a fast-paced game against this Kings team. If Luka and Porzy are both out then all those guys would become elite plays in this matchup.
5-star play: Tyrese Haliburton, Luka Doncic
4-star play: Buddy Hield, Richaun Holmes, Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Brunson
Deeper Value: Jalen Brunson, Marvin Bagley
GPP Sleeper: Tim Hardaway Jr.
New York Knicks @ Houston Rockets
Vegas Total: 216.5
Vegas Spread: Nyk -9.5
From the Knicks, Julius Randle is an elite play here, as this Rockets team doesn’t have any traditional bigs so he should dominate inside here, he’s a strong play here but I like his price even more on FanDuel where he’s under $10k. RJ Barrett is a guy that I’m fine with if you land on him as a filler piece, especially on FanDuel where he’s SF which can be a tough position to find guys that you love having in there. Other than those guys, you can make a case for Derrick Rose and Reggie Bullock as GPP guys due to their prices. You can make a case for Rose in cash due to his recent production. From the Rockets, it sounds like John Wall will be out for the rest of the season and Eric Gordon seems like he’s been out most of the season, so let’s run some data with these guys off the court:
- Kelly Olynyk – 23.7% usage rate; 1.15 fpm
- Jae’Sean Tate – 19.9% usage rate; 1.03 fpm
- Kevin Porter Jr – 26.2% usage rate; 1.05 fpm
- Christian Wood – 25.7% usage rate; 1.14 fpm
These would be my main four guys to target from Houston. It is a nice pace-up spot for the Rockets against a Warriors team that likes to run and gun, so these guys are nice options with Wall and Gordon out. They even limited these guys a bit last night so they should be good to go here.
5-star play: Julius Randle, Kevin Porter Jr.
4-star play: Kelly Olynyk, Jae’Sean Tate, Christian Wood, RJ Barrett, Derrick Rose
Deeper Value: Reggie Bullock
GPP Sleeper: Kelly Olynyk, Derrick Rose
Phoenix Suns @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: 223
Vegas Spread: Phx -15
From the Suns, I think this is a fade spot for them, as they are already 15 point favorites and have no need to push their guys here tonight. Devin Booker is in a solid spot if you think this game can stay close. I do like Chris Paul here, he’s been really consistent as of late and has been pretty solid against here against his old team. The minutes on DeAndre Ayton have come up as of late and gets a good matchup here, but again this is tough to love them given the spread here. Those three would be my main targets if you want to go there, but keep an eye on the status of Dario Saric and Jae Crowder, if they sit again Cam Johnson would see an extended run. If you’re looking for blowout guys, Cameron Payne is going to be a great value play here. From the Thunder, Lu Dort just continues to look good from a fantasy perspective, but he is a GTD again here, so if he misses then it opens up a lot for other guys. Darius Bazley has looked pretty good over his last handful of games, but I like the price tag much better on DraftKings. Theo Maledon has been solid but a bit underwhelming. Moses Brown has seemingly disappeared since signing that multi-year contract with the Thunder, he’s a deep MME guy for just because we know the ceiling is there somewhere. Isaiah Roby has been grabbing some of those Brown minutes and has looked pretty good as of late, I would rather take the chance on him and he doesn’t use up a center spot but I hate the price on FanDuel. Aleksej Pokusevski is also going to see more minutes if Dort is out so he should see 30+ here, love him in all formats if he suits up for this one.
5-star play: Darius Bazley
4-star play: Aleksej Pokusevski, Chris Paul, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton
Deeper Value: Moses Brown, Dario Saric, Cameron Payne
GPP Sleeper: Cameron Payne
Philadelphia 76ers @ San Antonio Spurs
Vegas Total: 221
Vegas Spread: Phi -6.5
From the Sixers, they’re starting to get healthy but I just don’t think they have any need to run their stars huge minutes if they as they wind into the playoffs. That said, predicting blowout this year has been harder than ever so we can just go ahead and call Joel Embiid an elite option as always. Ben Simmons had that big game against Utah about a month and a half ago and really hasn’t done a whole lot since from a DFS perspective. Tobias Harris has seen his production go down since Embiid came back and feels a bit underpriced especially on FanDuel. I think you can make a case for Shake Milton here, but I don’t love the spot for him. Now for the Spurs, Derrick White will miss this game but it looks like outside of Trey Lyles, they should be good to here. Let’s run some data with White off the court over the past four weeks:
- DeMar DeRozan – 31.5% usage rate; 1.24 fpm
- Dejounte Murray – 23.2% usage rate; 1.03 fpm
- Keldon Johnson – 19.4% usage rate; 0.88 fpm
- Jakob Poeltl – 12.5% usage rate; 0.75 fpm
White being out doesn’t change a whole lot for me, it’ll just lead to more minutes for guys like Patty Mills and Lonnie Walker. DeRozan and Murray are solid options, but the Sixers play really solid defense. The same can be said for Poeltl down low, but you can make a case for these guys in GPPs if you’re looking to get some exposure to this one.
5-star play: Joel Embiid, DeMar Derozan
4-star play: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson
Deeper Value: Seth Curry, Shake Milton, Lonnie Walker, Patty Mills
GPP Sleeper: Patty Mills
Toronto Raptors @ Los Angeles Lakers
Vegas Total: 217.5
Vegas Spread: Lal -7
From the Raptors, they are in dissarray right now, so we’ll need some news on guys before we can get too deep into it. But the two main guys we know will play are Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam here, both are elite plays especially if Lowry is out again tonight. That said, we’ll operate under the assumption that they’re playing. Those two combined with Fred VanVleet will see huge minutes should they start and are all solid plays for me here, the nice thing with them is Nurse runs them into the ground when we get confirmation that they’re starting, so not like we need to worry about minutes, but again Lowry did miss last game so it is something to keep an eye on. You can probably lump OG Anunoby into that group as well, but his price is a bit too high for me to really prioritize. Lastly, Khem Birch should continue to see good run as they try and see what they have in this guy, he’s a solid option on both sites. Now for the Lakers, Anthony Davis was taken off his minutes restriction last time out and played 31 minutes on his way to 50+ fantasy points. I do like getting to him here at this price tag in a pace-up matchup against a bad defense but both him and LeBron James are GTDs tonight, so we’ll need news on them. Andre Drummond has looked solid over his past five games or so, the Raptors have struggled with big men all season long, you can go right back to him here for GPPs. I’ll never trust him in cash games though, especially this season. Dennis Schroder would be an elite play if AD and LBJ were both to miss this game. I probably won’t get to Kyle Kuzma much here, I think you can do better than him in this spot unless AD is out. Lastly, Montrezl Harrell has seen his minutes cut pretty substantially since Drummond arrived and now with Davis back he’ll just be a fade for me here.
5-star play: Anthony Davis (if in), Fred VanVleet
4-star play: Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby, Kyle Lowry, Dennis Schroder
Deeper Value: Montrezl Harrell, Kyle Kuzma, Khem Birch
GPP Sleeper: Khem Birch
