Detroit Pistons @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Pistons, they’ll be without Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, and Cory Joseph here. Meaning we can go right back to guys like Isaiah Stewart, Josh Jackson, Saddiq Bey, and Killian Hayes. If we run some data with these three off the court over the past four weeks, here’s what we’re looking at:
- Josh Jackson – 34.0% usage rate; 1.33 fpm
- Isaiah Stewart – 17.1% usage rate; 1.20 fpm
- Killian Hayes – 20.5% usage rate; 1.00 fpm
- Saddiq Bey – 18.8% usage rate; 0.83 fpm
These guys would pretty easily be my favorite targets from the Pistons and we’ve seen them be really good with these main guys off the court since the All-Star break. Isaiah Stewart will be my main target for sure. Now for the Hornets, the big news here is that LaMelo Ball is a GTD, so if he suits up, even likely limited, it does take away from guys like Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham. Miles Bridges has been playing out of his mind, and I’ll be targeting him in this matchup here tonight. He’s been really consistent ever since Gordon Hayward went down and has flashed a nice ceiling as well. The price on PJ Washington has come up, but for good reason, he’s playing big minutes and producing nicely in them, no issue going right back to him here against a Pistons team that can struggle on the interior. Devonte’ Graham left the game shortly yesterday but looks like he’ll be good to go after he came back in and looked good again last night, but like I said, he is out of play for me if LaMelo is in.
5-star play: Isaiah Stewart
4-star play: Killian Hayes, Saddiq Bey, Josh Jackson, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, PJ Washington
Deeper Value: Killian Hayes, Josh Jackson
GPP Sleeper: Terry Rozier, Killian Hayes
Golden State Warriors @ Houston Rockets
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Here is the game to target, as both of these teams play at a fast pace and not much defense will be present here. Starting with the Warriors, Steph Curry has been fantastic the past few games, and gets a dream matchup again here tonight. I’ll never have an issue playing Draymond Green, it’s a solid matchup as HOU doesn’t have a traditional big. The same can be said for Kelly Oubre and Andrew Wiggins, the Rockets have struggled with opposing wings this season so I like getting to them in this spot.
From the Rockets, it sounds like John Wall will be out for the rest of the season and Eric Gordon seems like he’s been out most of the season, so let’s run some data with these guys off the court:
- Kelly Olynyk – 23.7% usage rate; 1.15 fpm
- Jae’Sean Tate – 19.9% usage rate; 1.03 fpm
- Kevin Porter Jr – 26.2% usage rate; 1.05 fpm
- Christian Wood – 25.7% usage rate; 1.14 fpm
These would be my main four guys to target from Houston. It is a nice pace-up spot for the Rockets against a Warriors team that likes to run and gun, so these guys are nice options with Wall and Gordon out.
5-star play: Kevin Porter Jr., Christian Wood, Stephen Curry
4-star play: Kelly Olynyk, Jae’Sean Tate, Kelly Oubre, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green
Deeper Value: Armoni Brooks, Kenyon Martin Jr.
GPP Sleeper: Armoni Brooks
Chicago Bulls @ Atlanta Hawks
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Bulls, Zach LaVine will continue to be out for them, so we can run some data with him off the, I’m going to pull a date range of the past four weeks instead of the season to get a better idea:
- Coby White – 25.4% usage rate; 0.93 fpm
- Nikola Vucevic – 29.1% usage rate; 1.53 fpm
- Lauri Markkanen – 19.8% usage rate; 0.82 fpm
- Patrick Williams – 18.0% usage rate; 0.76 fpm
These would be my favorite options on the Bulls, but you can make a case for guys like Daniel Theis, Thad Young, and Denzel Valentine for GPPs. People may chase that Daniel Theis game from last time out, but he’s priced way up on FanDuel and I don’t really want to use a center spot on him on DraftKings. Vucevic looks like a top option at center on FanDuel as well, he and Coby White have looked great in LaVine’s absence.
Trae Young just came back from injury, and the Hawks have a rough stretch coming up, so I could see him resting here tonight. Clint Capela and Danilo Gallinari are both questionable. Let’s run some numbers with Young, DeAndre Hunter, and Cam Reddish off the court this season, assuming both Capela and Gallinari play:
- Clint Capela – 22.7% usage rate; 1.43 fpm
- Kevin Huerter – 20.4% usage rate; 0.81 fpm
- Bogdan Bogdanovic – 24.7% usage rate; 1.0 fpm
- John Collins – 29.8% usage rate; 1.20 fpm
These are the main guys I’ll have interest in as well as Brandon Goodwin who I would assume gets the start for Young here, he would be a great value play on DraftKings, but that price on FanDuel is a bit harder to swallow. Clint Capela is really the guy I’ll want here, as he played last game and dominated as well. Kevin Huerter also had a down shooting game and he is a really nice GPP option here tonight, but he also got hurt the other night so it is something to watch as well. If Capela were to miss, then Onyeka Okongwu would be a premier value play.
5-star play: Clint Capela, Nikola Vucevic
4-star play: Coby White, Trae Young (if in), Patrick Williams, Daniel Theis, John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic
Deeper Value: Kevin Huerter, Patrick Williams
GPP Sleeper: Patrick Williams, Thad Young
Miami Heat @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Heat, Jimmy Butler comes into this one priced up on both sites but has looked good as of late, they need to rely on him with Herro still on the shelf. I think you can get to him here, I would think we get some decent value on this slate to make him work, but he didn’t look all that special last night. The same can be said for Bam Adebayo, but I do like his price tag on DraftKings, there’s some meat on the bone there especially against this Cavs defense. Tyler Herro comes in as questionable and hasn’t been all that great lately either, so not really a guy I’m going to look to get all that much of. Then you can round this team off with a few ancillary tournament pieces like Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn, and Goran Dragic. Starting with the Cavaliers, Collin Sexton returned last night, and Darius Garland went down, so the role flips and Sexton will be the guy we want to target. Jarrett Allen has been pretty bad relative to his price tag as of late, but the matchup is fantastic for him here and it could help get him going again, he had a decent game last night. Kevin Love has been really solid as of late and dropped nearly 40 fantasy points on the Hornets a few games back, but with it being the 2nd half of a B2B I won’t be too high on him.
5-star play: Collin Sexton, Jimmy Butler
4-star play: Bam Adebayo, Kendrick Nunn, Jarrett Allen, Kevin Love
Deeper Value: Duncan Robinson, Goran Dragic
GPP Sleeper: Goran Dragic
Memphis Grizzlies @ Orlando Magic
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Grizzlies, the price on Ja Morant has come up, for good reason. He’s been in much better form over the past few games and has a huge ceiling in this game against a Magic team that is struggling on defense. I like the price much better on Jonas Valanciunas much more on FanDuel, but you can make a case for him on either site, and the matchup is fantastic but they are on the 2nd half of a B2B. Outside of those two, it’s hard for me to get a whole lot of interest in the rest of this team due to them getting healthier. They can pretty easily run an 11 man rotation and potentially 12/13. Jaren Jackson is a guy I would have some interest in though, his minutes should continue to climb and he’s looked good in his first couple of games. Now for the Magic, Mo Bamba has been on a tear but his hip injury has been touch and go, so if he misses then Wendell Carter Jr. will see a ton of run here again tonight, but he is a GTD himself as well, so we need to keep an eye on news for both of those guys. Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton have also both been getting big minutes and I love Cole here as he should get the bulk of those minutes with MCW still out. Terrence Ross has missed the past few games, so we’ll need news before we can do anything with him. Chuma Okeke also got hurt again, so he’ll be out for awhile so we can have more confidence in Dwayne Bacon and Moe Wagner go the start for him last night. Gary Harris is also seeing a ton of usage with this Magic team as well.
5-star play: Ja Morant
4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Jaren Jackson, Mo Bamba, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter
Deeper Value: Moe Wagner, Gary Harris, Dwayne Bacon
GPP Sleeper: Moe Wagner
New Orleans Pelicans @ Minnesota Timberwolves
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
Starting with the Pelicans, Zion Williamson has been pretty bad over his past two games. I like him slightly better on FanDuel, but on a bigger slate I don’t think we need to go there tonight, I think you can make a case for him in GPPs. Brandon Ingram is a fine option but not someone I generally get to. I like him a bit more on FanDuel due to the price and the position scarcity. Lonzo Ball is coming off a massive game the other night, but he’s been playing really well and the matchup is fantastic against this Wolves team. You can keep riding his little hot streak here. Lastly, Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams are fine secondary filler options if you happen to land on them. Not really guys that I’m looking to prioritize though. It’s worth noting that Steven Adams was out last game, so we can go right to Willy Hernangomez if he ends up sitting. From the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns should be able to do whatever he wants in this spot, this Pels defense and frontcourt are not good at the moment especially if Adams is out again. He’s cooled down a bit over his last four or so games, but I still love him in this spot. Anthony Edwards has bounced back over his last two games and is a guy you can get to here as well, I like him a bit more of GPPs just because he can be a bit volatile with D’Angelo Russell back in there. Speaking of Russell, I’m just going to continue to go back to him until the price gets to where it should be. Finch said he’s capable of playing big minutes and expects him to rejoin the starting lineup at some point. If he slides into the starting lineup I’ll love him, but he’s a good play regardless. Lastly, Ricky Rubio is a fine filler piece if you need one.
5-star play: Karl Anthony Towns
4-star play: Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell
Deeper Value: Willy Hernangomez, Eric Bledsoe
GPP Sleeper: Willy Hernangomez
Indiana Pacers @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
This should be one of the lower total games on the slate, but there is some value here that we can take advantage of. From the Pacers, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner will continue to be out which opens up a ton of frontcourt minutes. We saw Oshae Brissett get the start last time out and he’ll be forced into big minutes again especially if Goga continues to be out. We’ll need to keep an eye on the status of Doug McDermott and Goga Bitadze, but he seems like a solid bet to get big minutes yet again here. If Goga is active he’s a great option as well, he would likely get the start at center, he did miss last night though. Then the trio of guards on this team are great options as well and had huge games last time out. Malcolm Brogdon would be my favorite but he got hurt last game as well, so we’ll need news on him, if he is out, Caris LeVert and TJ McConnell are certainly in play with how much usage is going to be missing from this offense. From the Thunder, Lu Dort just continues to look good from a fantasy perspective, but he is out tonight. Darius Bazley has looked pretty good over his last handful of games, but I like the price tag much better on DraftKings. Theo Maledon has been pretty uninteresting but on a six-game slate, he makes for a fine filler option with Dort out. Moses Brown has seemingly disappeared since signing that multi-year contract with the Thunder, he’s a deep MME guy for just because we know the ceiling is there somewhere. Isaiah Roby has been grabbing some of those Brown minutes and has looked pretty good as of late, I would rather take the chance on him and he doesn’t use up a center spot. Aleksej Pokusevski is also going to see more minutes with Dort out so he should see 30+ here, love him in all formats.
5-star play: Caris LeVert, Darius Bazley
4-star play: Aleksej Pokusevski, Theo Maledon, Isaiah Roby, TJ McConnell, Osahe Brissett
Deeper Value: TJ McConnell, Isaiah Roby
GPP Sleeper: Aleksej Pokusevski
Washington Wizards @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Wizards, Russell Westbrook continues to produce and play massive minutes, he’s an elite play as usual here as he seemingly triple doubles in every single game. Bradley Beal seems like he’s finally got his legs back under him, I do like his price tag a bit better on FanDuel though. Outside of those two, this team is going too hard for me to get to in this spot on a big slate, you can make a case for guys like Raul Neto, Davis Bertans, and Daniel Gafford for tournaments, but I think you’re reaching by doing so. We’ll kick the slate off with the Mavericks, we’re going to need some news around this team as Luka and Kristaps both come in as questionable along with Dorian Finney-Smith and Josh Richardson. For the moment I’ll operate under the assumption that they both play, but keep an eye on that Breaking News Feed. Luka Doncic is in better form over the past week or two which is nice to see. If Kristaps Porzingis were to miss Luka would jump into elite play territory if he isn’t already there. I do have a little more interest in some of the other guys on this team than I normally would if Josh Richardson were to miss. I loaded up on Tim Hardaway Jr. and Jalen Brunson in this spot last night, so I think you can go right back to them in a fast-paced game against this Wizards team. If Luka and Porzy are both out then all those guys would become elite plays in this matchup.
5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Luka Doncic
4-star play: Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Brunson, Bradely Beal
Deeper Value: Raul Neto, Davis Bertans, Daniel Gafford
GPP Sleeper: Tim Hardaway Jr.
Toronto Raptors @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Raptors, they are in dissarray right now, so we’ll need some news on guys before we can get too deep into it. But the two main guys we know will play are Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam here, both are elite plays especially if FVV is out again tonight. That said, we’ll operate under the assumption that they’re playing. Those two combined with Fred VanVleet will see huge minutes should they start and are all solid plays for me here, the nice thing with them is Nurse runs them into the ground when we get confirmation that they’re starting, so not like we need to worry about minutes, but again FVV did miss last game so it is something to keep an eye on. You can probably lump OG Anunoby into that group as well, but his price is a bit too high for me to really prioritize. Lastly, Khem Birch should continue to see good run as they try and see what they have in this guy, he’s a solid sub $5k option on both sites. Now for the Jazz, they’ll be without Donovan Mitchell again here, they’ll also be without Mike Conley, so we can run some numbers with these guys off the court:
- Jordan Clarkson – 30.7% usage rate; 1.09 fpm
- Rudy Gobert – 21.4% usage rate; 1.33 fpm
- Joe Ingles – 21.2% usage rate; 1.09 fpm
- Bojan Bogdanovic – 26.6% usage rate; 0.91 fpm
These would be the four main guys I have an interest in, on FanDuel I like pivoting to Royce O’Neale to take advantage of the three-point block/steal scoring. Georges Niang is also in play if he starts again which I believe he will.
5-star play: Kyle Lowry, Jordan Clarkson
4-star play: Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic, OG Anunoby, Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet (if in)
Deeper Value: Khem Birch, Joe Ingles
GPP Sleeper: Khem Birch
Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: TBD
Vegas Spread: TBD
From the Nuggets, Will Barton will continue to be out here which will open minutes for some of these ancillary guys including Facundo Campazzo. Campazzo has been pretty solid as of late if you’re looking for a mid-range guy in a decent matchup. We should expect to see big minutes from Austin Rivers and PJ Dozier as well. The spend-upClippers are not good here without Kawhi. Now for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard comes into this one as doubtful so we can go right back to Paul George in this one after he had a solid game the other night. He has been really good up to that last game, they got blown out in that game as well, so no reason to really push him. That said, this is a battle with another team at the top of the Western Conference so I would think he’s going to push it a bit here, I like George in this spot. Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson should continue to see an increase in looks on offense as well with Kawhi out, they’re solid GPP options. DeMarcus Cousins missed last game, but he should be back here and should play 20+ minutes, it will be interesting to see if that is a trend that will continue or if it was just due to the blowout. I would assume blowout, but at the very least it makes me a bit more nervous to run Ivica Zubac out there.
5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Michael Porter, Paul George
4-star play: Facundo Campazzo, Marcus Morris
Deeper Value: PJ Dozier, Austin Rivers, Reggie Jackson, Ivica Zubac
GPP Sleeper: DeMarcus Cousins
NBA Lock of the Day:
(Aleksej Pokusevski FD: $4,100 DK: $4,700)
Dort and SGA are out again tonight, and with the way this Thunder team has been playing Pokusevski is in line for some big minutes here and he’s in the 4K range on both sites. If he gets going early he could get you 7-8x value at this price so I love him here tonight with Dort out.
