Orlando Magic @ Atlanta Hawks
Vegas Total: 219.5
Vegas Spread: Atl -12.5
This game has a lower total, so it isn’t one that I’ll be targeting too heavily here tonight, but we do have some value that has opened up with injuries on the Magic side. Starting with the Magic, Mo Bamba has been on a tear but his hip injury has been touch and go, so if he misses then Wendell Carter Jr. will see a ton of run here again tonight against a bad ATL interior. Cole Anthony and RJ Hampton have also both been getting big minutes and I love Cole here as he should get the bulk of those minutes with MCW out for the next few games. Terrence Ross is also in play here with the usage he gets with the 2nd unit, and with Michael Carter-Williams out for the next few games it pushes him into playable territory here but I hate his price tag. Chuma Okeke has also been fantastic the past few games, and he is very much in play again here tonight at his price. From the Hawks, Clint Capela has been really solid over his last four games, John Collins comes into this one as questionable, I would want Collins to be out to really like Capela again here. Trae Young has been playing really well as well but he had a down game a few days ago but the matchup is fantastic against Orlando as they’ve been allowing a ton of FPs to guards. Bogdan Bogdanovic continues to play well, and having SF eligibility on both DraftKings and FanDuel is a big win. He’s another guy I would want Collins to be out so he can benefit, however. The last guy I would have interest in here is Kevin Huerter, as he has been playing big minutes as well.
5-star play: Trae Young, Clint Capela
4-star play: Chuma Okeke, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter, Bogdan Bogdanovic
Deeper Value: Kevin Huerter, RJ Hampton, Mo Bamba
GPP Sleeper: Kevin Huerter
Charlotte Hornets @ New York Knicks
Vegas Total: 209.5
Vegas Spread: Nyk -5.5
This isn’t a game I’ll be targeting too heavily, as it has the lowest total on the slate by far, but there are a few plays that we can get from here, but overall I’ll be underweight on the game as a whole. From the Hornets, Terry Rozier has been on a tear with Ball and Graham out, if both are out again tonight then he would become a premier play, while PJ Washington also returned last game and looked fantastic even coming off the bench, I would expect him to be back in the starting lineup here tonight. With Malik Monk, LaMelo Ball, and Gordon Hayward all off the court Miles Bridges has been thriving in that role. Jalen McDaniels has also been solid, but with Washington back it puts a damper on his ceiling here. Now for the Knicks, the only guy I’ll likely be playing from this game is Julius Randle, as this is a great spot for him going against a banged up Charlotte front court as they’ve been allowing a ton of FPs to opposing bigs. RJ Barrett has also been solid and he isn’t too badly priced, but he’s more of a cash game play here today if at all. Elfrid Payton and Nerlens Noel are also in play here, but like I said really the only guy I’ll be targeting from this Knicks team is Randle.
5-star play: Julius Randle, Terry Rozier
4-star play: PJ Washington, Miles Bridges, RJ Barrett
Deeper Value: Elfrid Payton, Nerlens Noel
GPP Sleeper: Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges, Derrick Rose
Brooklyn Nets @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total: 231.5
Vegas Spread: Nop -3.5
Here we have a really nice game to target, as it has the 2nd highest total on the slate and this should be a very competitive game as well. Starting with the Nets, James Harden will continue to be out here as will Kevin Durant. This makes Kyrie Irving a premier play here tonight as he’ll have a ton of usage here and the ball will be in his hands all game. Joe Harris is coming off a nice game as well, he’s more of a GPP guy due to his scoring dependency, however. Bruce Brown is a value guy I have interest in as well, with Harden and KD both out he should see big minutes. Jeff Green and Blake Griffin haven’t done enough as of late for me to have interest in them, but on a small slate they both are in play here tonight as well. Now for the Pelicans, Zion Williamson has been lighting it up in all aspects, and his price is approaching 10K but for good reason. He’s a premier play here tonight against this weak Nets defense and I expect him to have an absolute field day here. Brandon Ingram has also returned and looked pretty good, basically all the Pels starters are in play here with this total. Naji Marshall also continues to start, and he is a solid value here, especially if Ball were to miss as he starts when Ball is out. Speaking of him, Lonzo Ball also has a great matchup here against Kyrie as well. James Johnson is also playing big minutes off the bench as well, I like him for value tonight again as well. This should be an interesting game, as we have a high total and neither of these teams play much defense.
5-star play: Kyrie Irving, Zion Williamson
4-star play: Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Joe Harris, Bruce Brown
Deeper Value: James Johnson, Naji Marshall, Jeff Green, Blake Griffin
GPP Sleeper: James Johnson, Blake Griffin
Los Angeles Clippers @ Portland Trail Blazers
Vegas Total: 226.5
Vegas Spread: Lac -8.5
Starting with the Clippers, it looks like Kawhi Leonard is back here, so that puts a damper on the rest of this Clippers team as we lose that value. Paul George has also been playing really well, and his price has come down on FanDuel with Kawhi back so he is very much in play here tonight. Marcus Morris and Nic Batum had nice games the last time out as well and are at cheap price points. But Morris missed last game as well, if he misses again I’ll go right back to Terance Mann after he got into foul trouble the other night. Reggie Jackson would also be a decent value if Pat Beverley continues to be out. Now for the Blazers, we already know that Damian Lillard and Jusuf Nurkic have both already been ruled out for tonights game. Norman Powell and CJ McCollum are great plays here tonight as both will see a nice usage increase with those guys out. Enes Kanter is also a great play at his price, as he can really get it going against this Clippers frontcourt and he is cheap on both sites. Robert Covington is also a guy you can go to in GPPs as he has a nice ceiling and virtually no one will be on him. Anfernee Simons will also see 20+ minutes off the bench and he is barely above minimum on FanDuel.
5-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, CJ McCollum
4-star play: Enes Kanter, Ivica Zubac, Robert Covington, Norman Powell
Deeper Value: Terance Mann, Anfernee Simons, Reggie Jackson
GPP Sleeper: Enes Kanter, Anfernee Simons
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Sacramento Kings
Vegas Total: 237.5
Vegas Spread: Sac -4
Here we have a really nice hammer game, as it has one of the highest totals on the slate and we have a nice close total as the Timberwolves have been playing much better as of late. Starting with the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns is a solid play here and the matchup is fantastic with him here as the Kings are horrible against bigs with Holmes out. D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards are also solid plays here as well as the Kings don’t defend guards well either. Ricky Rubio actually had a solid game the other night as well, and he’s in play for value at the PG spot tonight. Jaden McDaniels has also taken over that 4 spot for the Wolves, and he’s a solid play here as well tonight if you’re looking to get different in GPPs. Now for the Kings, De’Aaron Fox continues to play huge minutes and produces well while he’s out there. He is priced up on both sites, but he has been worth it 90% of the time. Buddy Hield and Harrison Barnes, both see an uptick in minutes with Holmes out as well, especially Barnes, he is a great cash game play. Tyrese Haliburton has been frustrating as of late, I like his price tag a lot more on FanDuel however, so he’s in play over there. Lastly, Hassan Whiteside should continue to see solid run with Richaun Holmes out. He started last game and I could see him playing 25+ here to matchup with KAT. The ceiling is elite but the floor is low.
5-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, De’Aaron Fox
4-star play: Hassan Whiteside, Harrison Barnes, D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards, Buddy Hield
Deeper Value: Ricky Rubio, Jaden McDaniels, Tyrese Haliburton
GPP Sleeper: Hassan Whiteside
NBA Lock of the Day:
(Kyrie Irving FD: $9,400 DK: $9,900)
With all the guys that are out for this Nets team, Kyrie has a 35.3% usage rate and averages 1.56 FPPM and he gets a great matchup here against New Orleans as well. He should take about 30 shots here tonight and the Pelicans are also allowing the most fantasy points to PGs over their last 7 games on the slate, making Mr. Irving my lock of the day. As always, check back here for updates throughout the day, and as always, stay updated in our VIP Coaching forums as news breaks throughout the day!
