NHL DFS Power Picks: Fanduel + Draftkings Top Tiers Plays | March 15th
NHL Tier 1
Pastrnak (BOS) leads the tier in raw projections, but it’s hard to outperform Connor McDavid (EDM). McDavid’s last 10 and last 5 NHL game numbers are 5 DK points clear of anyone in the tier not named Draisaitl (EDM). Ovechkin (WAS) looks great, and leads the tier in shots on goal, but is clearly the gpp pivot here with great upside but still a step below the others.
DFS Hockey Tier 2
Over larger samples, Patrick Kane (CHI) will be the consistent performer and probably belongs in tier 1. But, over the shorter term, Marchand and Bergeron (BOS) correlate well with Pastrnak. And, Jake Guentzel (PIT) is absolutely on fire averaging 21.4 DK points over his last 5 games and is the only member of this tier to bring at least 10 DK points in each of those last 5 games.
NHL Tier 3
Aleksander Barkov (FLA) brings the floor here, even over a Sidney Crosby (PIT) in his last 10 and 20 game sample sizes. However, the upside in this tier might reside with the wingers scoring multiple goals per game. Brady Tkachuk (OTT) leads in pure shots on goal, but Rust (PIT) correlates with Guentzel in T2, and DeBrincat (CHI) may have cooled off lately, but at one point was hotter than even Patrick Kane.

DFS Hockey Tier 4
It’s hard to get past Mark Pacioretty (VGK) in terms of both a floor/upside combo. But, if anyone brings a better floor, it’s the NHL quarterback of the Washington Capitals power play, John Carlson. His last 5 game numbers are coming alive and the time might be right to grab access to the Capitals offense here, especially if you aren’t playing Ovechkin up in T1.
NHL Tier 5
Artemi Panarin (NYR) makes in interesting appearance here, and Patrick Hornqvist (FLA) is always going to have an incredible shot on goal floor with upside. But, the leaders in this tier, currently, are defensemen. Tyson Barrie (EDM) brings sexy exposure to the big guns in Edmonton and also leads the tier in scoring outright over his last 5 games with a 19 DK point average. Second on this scoring sample is Jeff Petry (MTL) who also brings a substantive floor and 14.1 DK points per game over the same sample size. Both of whom have brought 10 DK points at least in 80% of their last few games, while anyone else in the tier is a far less consistent 40% at reaching the 10 point barrier.
DFS Hockey Tier 6
Darnell Nurse (EDM) is another defenseman that brings a nice floor to the tier over the last handful of games. However, if you are seeking upside, Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG) is heating back up and leads the tier with nearly 16 DK points per game. Mark Stone (VGK) correlates with Pacioretty in T4, and has his own hot streak going right now hitting 25+ DK points twice in his last 10 games.

NHL Tier 7
Chris Kreider (NYR) is running away with this tier over a 10 game sample with 18 DK points per game compared to 12 points from any of his competitors. But, he has cooled off some and Bo Horvat (VAN) is coming back to life in his recent 5 games. This tier is wider open as no one has proven any consistency in hitting the 10 point DK barrier even 40% of the time lately.
DFS Hockey Tier 8
J.T. Miller (VAN) makes an interesting and under-the-radar correlation play with Bo Horvat in T7. Miller has 1G, 4A and 11 SOG in his last 5 games and was a key piece to all the scoring the Canucks did early in the season. Nugent-Hopkins (EDM) provides obvious correlation to the studs of the top tiers, and Brendan Gallagher (MTL) has several players to correlate with on the slate today as well. However, if just playing the same cores of players night in and night out, Kyle Connor (WPG) dropping down to tier 8 here is a pleasant surprise and might just be the best talent in the tier, like we had with Tarasenko (STL) the past few days.

Stronger Correlation and NHL Stacking Options
Edmonton Oilers – Always relevant. Any combo of McDavid/Draistaitl, Barrie, Nurse, Nugent-Hopkins (Ts 1, 5, 6, 8) are viable from pairs to big 4-stacks in gpps.
Vegas Golden Knights – Pacioretty, Stone, and Theodore (Ts 4, 6, 8) make a great trio to build around.
GPP Options…
Vancouver Canucks – Horvat, Miller (Ts 7, 8) are heating up and will be underowned.
Winnipeg Jets – Ehlers, Connor (Ts 6, 8) bring slate-smashing upside any given night.
Montreal Canadiens – Petry, Gallagher (Ts 5, 8) are also showing signs of life and also offer a more contrarian option.
