NHL DFS Power Picks: Fanduel + Draftkings Top Tiers Plays | March 11th
NHL Tier 1
Rather wide open tier for the top tier tonight. Matthews (TOR) has a wrist concern to watch, but has the highest combination of floor/upside in the group. Pastrnak (BOS) correlates with T2 well and is also a stellar play night in and night out. Patrick Kane (CHI) is a league wide stud, and DeBrincat (CHI) is riding a nice little heater. If correlating down the line, you will be focused on Matthews or Pastrnak as the CHI players yield no options.
DFS Hockey Tier 2
Ovechkin (WAS) earns the top projection again, but Marchand (BOS) and Bergeron (BOS) correlate with T1’s Pastrnak. Marner (TOR) correlates positively with Matthews, as well. This tier has strong names, but honestly the plays aren’t terribly great right now. Again, sort of a wider open feel than normal.
NHL Tier 3
Forsberg (NSH) and Barkov (FLA) are my standard go-tos here because of their strong floors. Ehlers (WPG) can easily break this tier, though, and the others can also rise up on occasion. In cash games, I stick with Forsberg and keep the train rolling.

DFS Hockey Tier 4
As stated in the above video, a sneaky gpp play is Matthew Tkachuk (CGY) due to ownerships and his potential ceiling should he ever realize it this year. In terms of safer plays, your centermen are great choices. Both Sidney Crosby (PIT) and Sean Coutrier (PHI) are hitting baseline numbers well over 50% of the time and offer that floor from which you build your NHL cash game lineups.
NHL Tier 5
I love Kyle Connor’s (WPG) scoring ability, and play him at nearly every turn. But, Vincent Trocheck (CAR) is having a stellar year as well. And, we can’t simply overlook how big a factor Joel Farabee (PHI) has been in Philadelphia, either. These are my three skaters coming from this tier in well over 75% of my lineups tonight.
DFS Hockey Tier 6
Aho (CAR) is heating up and bears attention, Hedman (TB) anchors that offense with a wicked high floor, and Palat (TB) has a 5 game scoring average running 13 points over his season average for a heater that is flying too far under radars to ignore. Palat is also outshooting anyone in this tier with 43 shots on goal in his last 10 games.

NHL Tier 7
Normally, I would say Joe Pavelski (DAL) and move on, but we do get a couple other names in here today. John Tavares (TOR) is a great NHL option correlating with Auston Matthews (T1) or simply by himself. And, Jeff Petry (MTL) has anchored that offense well all year. If looking at Tyler Toffoli types, he correlates strongly. I’m still likely to land on Pavelski given he is 65% of whatever Dallas does (previous game aside, where he did still post a high floor number).
DFS Hockey Tier 8
I’m not a huge fan of this tier tonight. Charlie McAvoy (BOS) is about the only player standing out to me, and it’s not by much. He has the highest floor in terms of shots/blocks and overwhelms the tier with posting at least 10 points at about 60% of the time. Anything else by comparison is a dart throw.
Stronger Correlation and NHL Stacking Options
Boston Bruins – Pastrnak/Marchand (T1, T2)
Toronto Maple Leafs – Matthews/Marner/Tavares (T1, T2, T7…PP1 stack)
Florida Panthers – Barkov/Hornqvist/Huberdeau (T3, T7, T8…PP1 stack)
GPP Options…
Pittsburgh Penguins – Guentzel/Crosby/Rust/Letang/Malkin (T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, total mix and match for a whole PP1 stack, or trio, or pair, sky’s the limit!)
Winnipeg Jets – Ehlers/Connor (T3, T5)
Carolina Hurricanes – Trocheck/Aho (T5, T6)
