Detroit Pistons @ Washington Wizards
Vegas Total: 226.5
Vegas Spread: Wsh -3.5
The Pistons are going to be very hard to predict here, as they played 10 guys solid minutes yesterday with their new additions. The one thing we know is that Jerami Grant is a staple in that offense, and the matchup is great again for him tonight. Mason Plumlee also gets a great matchup here, he is a nice play in the mid-range. Saddiq Bey has also been playing over 30 minutes, but he’s been streaky, but when he is on he really can fill it up so he’s in play for GPPs as well. Lastly, if Dennis Smith Jr. suits up tonight I’ll have some shares, as he’s shown a high ceiling when he gets minutes. None of the new additions for the Pistons played over 20 minutes last night so I’ll likely be fading them here tonight unless one or two of them start. Now for the Wizards, they are in must win now mode already if they want an outside shot at the playoffs. Russell Westbrook is going to be my main target, especially against this Pistons team that allows a lot of penetration. Your other target here is going to be Bradley Beal but his ceiling is a bit capped as long as Westbrook is playing. Rui Hachimura has also been heating up, and his price hasn’t caught up to his recent production especially on FanDuel. Alex Len has also been solid in that starting role, and he’s still pretty cheap everywhere and with the departure of Wagner he’ll get even more minutes. They do have a tight rotation as well, and Garrison Mathews has been the main beneficiary of Bertans being hurt, and he looks like he’s out again tonight. He’s a decent value as he’s been seeing close to 30 minutes a game.
5-star play: Jerami Grant, Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal
4-star play: Mason Plumlee, Saddiq Bey, Dennis Smith Jr., Rui Hachimura
Deeper Value: Alex Len, Garrison Matthews, Hamidou Diallo, Saben Lee
GPP Sleeper: Alex Len
New York Knicks @ Milwaukee Bucks
Vegas Total: 224.5
Vegas Spread: Mil -9
The Knicks are trying to hang onto a playoff spot, and they’re going to continue to play their guys heavy minutes and they have a tight rotation with all the injuries they have. Julius Randle plays a ton of minutes every night, and he should see 40+ again tonight as he is their main source of offense and they’ve been competitive every time they’ve played the Bucks this year. Reggie Bullock would be a solid value if he plays, but he missed last game with that ankle injury. If he were to miss then we’d see bigger roles for both Immanuel Quickley and Alec Burks. RJ Barrett has also been solid, but he’s more of a cash game play with how the usage breaks down for this Knicks team, but if Bullock is out again tonight he’ll play over 40 minutes here and would be a really good play. Mitchell Robinson has also returned but they’re ramping him up as he played a good amount and had a really solid double-double last game. The spot to attack this team is with the 3 ball though, and the Knicks don’t exactly have a ton of shooters. Now for the Bucks, the big 3 of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and Jrue Holiday are all solid plays. However, the 3 of them take up a ton of usage and kind of limit each other’s ceilings, especially in a pace down game like this. All 3 are in play but I don’t think they win you a GPP. Donte DiVincenzo has been playing solid minutes as well, and he’s a decent value, but outside of these guys I won’t be touching any other Bucks unless we get some news that one of the big 3 will be out.
5-star play: Julius Randle, Giannis Antetokounmpo
4-star play: Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Reggie Bullock (if in), RJ Barrett
Deeper Value: Immanuel Quickley, Alec Burks, Donte DiVincenzo
GPP Sleeper: Alec Burks, Immanuel Quickley, Mitchell Robinson
Houston Rockets @ Minnesota Timberwolves
Vegas Total: 227
Vegas Spread: Min -5
Starting with the Rockets, we have a repeat game from last night, John Wall is on the 2nd half of a B2B, so I wouldn’t be shocked if he ends up sitting this one out. Christian Wood has looked good in his return, and he got his full minutes last night as well, he’s a solid play in all formats. Jae’Sean Tate, also played heavy minutes last night, but he’ll depend on whether or not Olynyk suits up here to be viable. Sterling Brown also played heavy minutes last night, and he is a nice value once again as well. Ben McLemore also started last night and he’ll be a solid value again here as well if he gets the starting nod again. We’ll need a starting lineup here before we can really dig in too deep though, as Kevin Porter Jr. may also be back here as well, so that is osmething to monitor. Now for the Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns has shown some signs of life since the All-Star Break, and his matchup against Wood is a really solid one, he should feast here tonight against the Rockets frontcourt. Anthony Edwards is the other primary target here, as he is priced in that mid-range but has some a ton of upside with Beasley and Russell both out. Ricky Rubio has also stepped up, but with McLaughlin back his minutes are trending downward. Juancho Hernangomez also played heavy minutes off the bench last night, and it looks like he has jumped Layman in the rotation. Lastly, Jaylen Nowell has been a spark plug off the bench for them, and he also saw 30 minutes off the bench last night. Overall this is a great game to target for some studs and for value as well.
5-star play: Christian Wood, Karl-Anthony Towns
4-star play: Anthony Edwards, Jae’Sean Tate, John Wall
Deeper Value: Kevin Porter Jr. Juancho Hernangomez, Jaylen Nowell
GPP Sleeper: Jaylen Nowell, Juancho Hernangomez
Chicago Bulls @ San Antonio Spurs
Vegas Total: 223.5
Vegas Spread: Sas -3
This should be a solid game to target, as the Bulls have a lot of new pieces, but we’ll need word on who will make their debuts tonight, specifically Nikola Vucevic. For the Bulls, Zach LaVine’s usage takes a hit with the addition of Vuc, but with Otto Porter gone he’ll get a ton of shots still here. Lauri Markkanen has also been playing solid minutes, but his rebounding numbers will definitely take a hit if Vuc makes his debut tonight. Tomas Satoransky and Thaddeus Young both start as well, but I can see Young going back to the bench with the addition of Vuc. Patrick Williams is also in play for GPPs here, as he has been really up and down, but this is a matchup where he should find some success. Overall the usage here will play out depending on whether or not Vuc makes his debut tonight, so we have to have news on that before we can do too much. For the Spurs, DeMar Derozan will be their main option on offense as the Aldridge buyout has become official. Dejounte Murray got off to a hot start last game, but disappeared in the second half. With all the Spurs guards healthy, it makes each of them a dart throw, specifically Derrick White and Patty Mills as both are healthy here so it makes it kind of difficult, my preference is on Mills though as he is a better value. Jakob Poeltl will continue to have to play big minutes as well with Aldridge gone, and the matchup gets much better for him if Vuc is out. Keldon Johnson has also shown flashes of greatness this year, and this could be a good spot for him to get right. Rudy Gay will also likely see solid minutes off the bench so he’s in play for value as well.
5-star play: Nikola Vucevic (if he plays), Zach LaVine, DeMar Derozan
4-star play: Lauri Markkanen, Tomas Satoransky, Dejounte Murray, Jakob Poeltl, Keldon Johnson
Deeper Value: Derrick White, Patty Mills, Patrick Williams
GPP Sleeper: Patrick Williams, Keldon Johnson
Boston Celtics @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: 220
Vegas Spread: Bos -9
Starting with the Celtics, they are on the 2nd half of a B2B, which likely means that Kemba Walker will be out as he hasn’t played on a B2B all year. Jayson Tatum came alive last night, going for 34 points and the Thunder are not a great defensive team, he’s a great play here tonight. Jaylen Brown is also in play here tonight, as he’s been playing out of his mind since the All-Star break, and he’s way too cheap here given his upside. Daniel Theis is out of town now, which has opened up things for Robert Williams, he is a FPPM monster and if he gets close to 30 minutes again tonight he’s going to absolutely smash here tonight going up against Horford. With Kemba likely out it opens up more minutes for Payton Pritchard as well, and I really like Marcus Smart here as well if Kemba sits. The Thunder are still struck by the injury bug, as Darius Bazley has already been ruled out again as has Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That opens up a lot of usage for this Thunder team, and Theo Maledon is in play here for value, he has shown some flashes of upside. Isaiah Roby would also be in line for more minutes here if Bradley doesn’t make his Thunder debut, and the Thunder’s first round pick from this year, Aleksej Pokusevski shined a few games ago, but with Dort back he is a bit limited. Speaking of which Luguentz Dort has been phenomenal since his return, and his priec hasn’t caught up yet. Moses Brown is also a great play, as the Celtics aren’t great against bigs and he’s a really solid value. However, Al Horford isn’t on the injury report here, so he’ll likely be in line for a ton of minutes here and a lot of usage will go to him with SGA out.
5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Al Horford, Jaylen Brown
4-star play: Marcus Smart, Theo Maledon, Luguentz Dort, Robert Williams
Deeper Value: Isaiah Roby, Payton Pritchard
GPP Sleeper: Moses Brown, Aleksej Pokusevski
Dallas Mavericks @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Dal -1.5
Starting with the Mavericks, the big news hinges on the availability of Luka Doncic as he missed last night, if he is out it frees up 35% usage on this Mavericks team. Kristaps Porzingis would be the primary beneficiary if he were to miss, as would Jalen Brunson and Josh Richardson. We really need news on him before we can dig too deep into this Mavs team, but those would be the main 3 guys I target here tonight, and possibly Maxi Kleber if you need a punt value play. Now for the Pelicans, Brandon Ingram has been trending in the right direction, as he has been cutting into Zion’s usage the past few games, and he’s a bit underpriced on FanDuel given his upside. Zion Williamson has also been on fire and the Mavs don’t have anyone that can matchup with him here tonight especially if Finney-Smith is out again. Big news hinges on the health of Lonzo Ball as he missed last game, if he were to miss again tonight then it would be a nice boost to Eric Bledsoe but it also allowed Nickeil Walker-Alexander to start as he’s filled that role the past few games, he’d be a premier play again tonight here for value if Ball were to miss. Josh Hart would also see a nice boost as he plays heavy minutes off the bench and does a bit of it all.
5-star play: Luka Doncic (if in), Zion Williamson
4-star play: Brandon Ingram, Josh Richardson, Eric Bledsoe, Nickeil Alexander-Walker
Deeper Value: Josh Hart, Maxi Kleber, Jalen Brunson (if Luka is out)
GPP Sleeper: Jalen Brunson (if Luka is out)
Memphis Grizzlies @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Uth -10
Starting with the Grizzlies, Ja Morant’s usage continues to climb in this offense, and he’s been trending in the right direction over the past 2 weeks, but the matchup isn’t great for him going up Mike Conley and this Jazz team, however he did take advantage and had a great game last night. Jonas Valanciunas is also a solid play as Gobert is really solid defensively, but he allows a surprising amount of FPs to opposing bigs and he’ll definitely go overlooked tonight. Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane have both settled into their respective roles and provide some decent salary relief, but Bane’s minutes have taken a hit lately. Grayson Allen has been a solid value play as well as he’s been taking good amount of shots. Brandon Clarke has been great off the bench as well, and you can go right back there tonight against this Jazz 2nd team defense. This game actually has one of the highest totals on the slate, which tells us a lot about the slate. Now for the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell gets a much better matchup here going up against Dillon Brooks, he should get plenty of open looks especially in transition. Rudy Gobert also gets a great matchup here, as JoVal is too slow to keep up with Gobert down low. Mike Conley also draws a favorable matchup going up against Ja, and Jordan Clarkson and Joe Ingles will be the sparkplugs for this Jazz teams coming off the bench. Both are solid values with my preference being Clarkson. If you’re looking for a punt at PF, Royce O’Neale is in play, but you can never get excited about playing him. Lastly, Bojan Bogdanovic is firmly in play here as his price doesn’t break the bank, and his shooting has shown signs of positive regression after his difficult first half.
5-star play: Ja Morant, Donovan Mitchell
4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley
Deeper Value: Jordan Clarkson, Joe Ingles, Brandon Clarke
GPP Sleeper: Grayson Allen
Philadelphia 76ers @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 222
Vegas Spread: Lac -4
Here is another game that we can target here, as both of these teams are dealing with injury issues and it should stay pretty close here tonight. Starting with the Sixers, Ben Simmons is a premier play here tonight, as the Clippers don’t have anyone that can matchup with him, and Pat Bev doesn’t look like he’ll be playing again tonight. Tobias Harris is also safe in all formats here, as he has as nice ceiling but his price has come way up with Embiid’s injury. Tony Bradley is out of town now, so Dwight Howard is going to be playing bigger minutes, even though Mike Scott will likely start here, we just have to hope that Dwight doesn’t get ejected again. Seth Curry was also back last game, he is a solid value everywhere at his price. Shake Milton is going to be to target if you’re looking for value as well, as he can light it up in the scoring department. This is a very underrated game to target in my opinion, as these teams play a bit faster than you’d think. Now for the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard missed last game, but I’d expect him to be back here tonight so he is a great play in all formats. Paul George is also a bit too cheap on FanDuel again, but the guy you’re going to want to target his is going to be Ivica Zubac as Serge Ibaka is going to be out for a few more games and his price hasn’t caught up to his recent production. If you’re looking to get different here, Marcus Morris should also see some solid run here with Ibaka out, he’s a solid value here as well. Lou Williams is also out of town, so that’ll free up some minutes for Terrance Mann, but we’ll needs news if Rajon Rondo is going to make his Clippers debut tonight. Reggie Jackson would also be in play here if Rondo and Pat Bev are out.
5-star play: Ben Simmons, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George
4-star play: Tobias Harris, Dwight Howard, Ivica Zubac
Deeper Value: Marcus Morris, Shake Milton, Seth Curry, Reggie Jackson.
GPP Sleeper: Ivica Zubac, Rajon Rondo
Cleveland Cavaliers @ Sacramento Kings
Vegas Total: 221.5
Vegas Spread: Sac -7
This isn’t a great hammer game here, as the total isn’t very high even with the Kings playing at a fast pace. Starting with the Cavs, Collin Sexton has been the bright spot in this offense all year, but he missed last game so there’s something to keep an eye on there. If he is out, Darius Garland would be a great play again here tonight. Kevin Love will be a fade for me again tonight, as they ease him back in, if he even plays, but this is a nice boost to Jarrett Allen who gets a nice matchup here with the Kings struggling to defend bigs. Larry Nance has also been playing big minutes off the bench and he’s in play for GPPs here as he can rack up FPs in a hurry when he gets going, he’ll likely start as well if Love is out. The only other option I’d consider here is Cedi Osman as he also started last game with all the Cavs injuries. We’ll need some more clarity on who is available before we can make any firm decisions. Overall not a ton to love from the Cavs tonight. Now for the Kings, De’Aaron Fox has been on absolute fire, posting multiple 40+ FP games already this week and he gets to face off against a Cavs team that has struggled to defend guards. This is a nice spot for Tyrese Haliburton as well, and his price is still way too cheap on FanDuel for the minutes he is getting, he struggled last game though and I expect him to bounce back here. Harrison Barnes is also a very solid cash game play at his price, as he’ll continue to play 30+ minutes in this game and he’s a really solid cash play. Richaun Holmes also has a very good matchup here as well, and this could be one of his explosion games if one of the Kings guards does end up struggling here tonight. Overall I think this is a solid game to target, especially if some value opens up on the Cavs.
5-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Collin Sexton
4-star play: Tyrese Haliburton, Darius Garland, Harrison Barnes, Richaun Holmes, Jarrett Allen
Deeper Value: Larry Nance, Cedi Osman
GPP Sleeper: Tyrese Haliburton
NBA Lock of the Day:
Robert Williams III ( FD: $5,600 DK: $6,600)
With the departure of Daniel Theis from Boston, it opens up the flood gates for Brad Stevens to finally unleash the Time Lord. He played almost 30 minutes yesterday and I’d expect that to ramp up here and I love the matchup. He is a FPPM monster and I’m expecting Kemba to be out tonight as well which would lead to even more usage for him.
