Memphis Grizzlies @ Oklahoma City Thunder

Vegas Total: 220.5

Vegas Spread: Mem -7

Here we get a few early games that are not on the main slate, so I won’t be digging too deep here as there really isn’t a point unless you’re playing the all-day slate, and in that case I would have to advise you to make better choices with all the craziness that is Sunday’s in the NBA. However, starting with the Grizzlies, Ja Morant’s usage continues to climb in this offense, and he’s been trending in the right direction over the past 2 weeks. Jonas Valanciunas is also a solid play here as the Thunder are undersized in their front court with Horford at the 5, and Bazley may be out again here as well. Dillon Brooks and Desmond Bane have both settled into their respective starting roles and provide some decent salary relief, especially Bane if he continues to start. Brandon Clarke has been great off the bench as well, and you can go right back there against this weak 2nd team Thunder defense. Now for the Thunder, the big news here hinders on the availability of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, if he is in then this game becomes a lot more interesting, because if he is out then it’ll likely be blowout city. If he were to miss, Theo Maledon would be in line for huge minutes as the Thunder traded away Hamidou Diallo to the Pistons a few days ago. Darius Bazley is also a GTD here, and if he were to miss then that opens up a ton of minutes for our darling Isaiah Roby as he’s given us big games when he gets the minutes. Al Horford is also in play here today as well, and he’ll be a solid option if SGA misses along with Bazley as he’ll dominate usage along with Maledon. One thing to keep an eye out for is if Svi Myhailuk is able to suit up here after being traded. I can see him having a solid role with this team right away so keep an eye on news.

5-star play: Ja Morant, Al Horford

4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks, Theo Maledon

Deeper Value: Isaiah Roby, Desmond Bane, Svi Myhailuk

GPP Sleeper: Isaiah Roby, Theo Maledon

Utah Jazz @ Golden State Warriors

Vegas Total: 232.5

Vegas Spread: Uth -6.5

Another early game we have here, but one that isn’t too exciting from a fantasy perspective as the Jazz make the trip to California to take on the Warriors. Starting with the Jazz, the guy you’ll want to target here is Donovan Mitchell, as he does it all for this Jazz team and the matchup is great against the Warriors. Rudy Gobert also has a smash spot here as the Warriors have struggled to defend bigs all year long and he’s been trending up. Bojan Bogdanovic has also been solid, but the price has come up as a result, but he should see plenty of open 3 opportunities here tonight. Jordan Clarkson and Mike Conley are also in play here, with Conley being my preference as Clarkson really needs one of Mitchell or Conley to be out in order for him to go off. Joe Ingles is also in play off the bench, but don’t expect big things with the Jazz at full strength. Now for the Warriors, this is a difficult matchup for them as the Jazz are one of the better defensive teams in the NBA. Steph Curry is still matchup proof, but he’ll see a lot of Mike Conley here tonight but he is a solid play either way as he’ll need to go off in order for this game to stay close. Kelly Oubre has been solid as well lately, and we’ve seen those ceiling games from him from time to time throughout the year. I never get excited about Andrew Wiggins and I think that you can safely fade him here tonight and not lose sleep over it. Draymond Green is safe for cash as well, as he does all the dirty work for the Warriors and they’ll need his presence inside. James Wiseman is also really solid for value if he starts, as he can get hot from the field but the minutes are always in question as Curry doesn’t like to play his bigs a ton of minutes.

5-star play: Stephen Curry, Donovan Mitchell

4-star play: Kelly Oubre, Mike Conley, Rudy Gobert, Bojan Bogdanovic

Deeper Value: Jordan Poole, James Wiseman, Joe Ingles

GPP Sleeper: Jordan Clarkson

San Antonio Spurs @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas Total: 222.5

Vegas Spread: Phi -4

For the Spurs, the big news hinges on whether or not DeMar Derozan will be back tonight after he missed last game for his father’s funeral. My prayers are with the Derozan family. This should be a pretty competitive game here though, as the Sixers will be without Embiid for a few weeks with that knee injury he had last game but luckily he avoided major damage. For the Spurs, Dejounte Murray would be the main beneficiary if Derozan were to miss, and with all their guards healthy it’s basically a dart throw at which guard is going to have a good game. Derrick White and Patty Mills are both healthy here so it makes it kind of difficult, my preference is on Mills though as he is a better value. Jakob Poeltl will continue to have to play big minutes as well with Aldridge gone, and the matchup gets much better for him without Embiid. Keldon Johnson has also shown flashes of greatness this year, and this could be a good spot for him to get right. Rudy Gay will also likely see solid minutes off the bench so he’s in play for value as well. For the Sixers, Ben Simmons will remain out tonight as well, so that makes Tobias Harris a phenomenal play in all aspects as he has over a 30% usage rate with those guys off the court. It’ll also open up additional usage for Seth Curry as well as we saw him benefit the other night as well. He’s a great value play here tonight. Shake Milton will also see additional minutes off the bench, and he should be a candidate for 6th man of the year with how he’s played in that role for the Sixers this year. Dwight Howard and Tony Bradley will split the minutes at the 5 as well with Embiid out, I prefer the one who starts but honestly I like both and given the roles they can both make value even in the same lineup.

5-star play: Tobias Harris, Dejounte Murray

4-star play: Dwight Howard, Seth Curry, Jakob Poeltl, Shake Milton, Keldon Johnson

Deeper Value: Shake Milton, Dwight Howard, Tony Bradley, Patty Mills

GPP Sleeper: Dwight Howard, Patty Mills

Miami Heat @ Orlando Magic

Vegas Total: 210

Vegas Spread: Mia -7.5

This game is likely going to be a snooze fest, as both of these teams play at a very slow pace as shown by the game total of 210 here. This isn’t a game I’m going to be targeting heavily and outside some of the Heat value that opens up with Bam out, I think you can safely fade this game. However, for the Heat, Jimmy Butler will be THE guy here with Bam out, as he can flirt with a triple double here even in this slow pace. Kelly Olynyk is probably my favorite play in this game with Bam out, as he’s strung together a few really nice games with him out as his role really increases. Goran Dragic and Kendrick Nunn are splitting the PG duties, and the matchup here is great as the Magic have been allowing a ton of FPs to opposing PGs over the past 2 weeks. Precious Achiuwa should also see some big minutes off the bench, he’s in play for value as well here tonight. Now for  the Magic, Nikola Vucevic is gonna be the biggest target here for the Magic, as Aaron Gordon is a GTD here, and if he is out then Vuc will get a ton of usage as Fournier has already been ruled out as well. Michael Carter-Williams is a solid value, but he continues to let me down every time I play him. Dwayne Bacon is also a solid value here with Fournier out, and if Terrence Ross is able to suit up he would be a great value play coming off the bench with Fournier out.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler, Nikola Vucevic

4-star play: Kelly Olynyk, Goran Dragic, Michael Carter-Williams

Deeper Value: Terrence Ross, Dwayne Bacon, Kendrick Nunn

GPP Sleeper: Kelly Olynyk, Terrence Ross (if he plays)

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Atlanta Hawks

Vegas Total: 223.5

Vegas Spread: Atl -6

This is a solid game that we want to target here as well, as these two teams play at a very fast pace and are both very young which makes for some exciting basketball. Starting with the Cavs, Collin Sexton is their primary option on offense, and he gets a great matchup here going up against the Hawks and their weak guard D. He will see an even bigger boost if Darius Garland is out again tonight. Jarrett Allen also draws a solid matchup here going up against Capela here after he struggled last game. Kevin Love has returned as well, but I’ll be fading him until he is off that minutes limit which he only played 10 last game, so I wouldn’t expect more than 15 tonight. However, he puts a damper on Larry Nance who has also returned and played heavy minutes in the blowout the other night. Cedi Osman should also see some solid minutes off the bench here and is in play for value, and you can take a few shots on Isaac Okoro as well as he had a huge game about a week ago, but don’t be surprised if he disappoints. Now for the Hawks, Trae Young is starting to turn a corner as he has been playing much better over the past few weeks and the matchup against Sexton here is one he can take advantage of. Clint Capela has also been great for the Hawks, and he gets a phenomenal matchup here against Allen who really struggles defensively. He can have another big game tonight. John Collins is always solid as well, but his ceiling is a bit capped as long as Capela is healthy. Bogdan Bogdanovic and Danilo Gallinari are also both solid values tonight, as is Kevin Huerter who will likely draw the start. I like going right back to Bogdanovic tonight after he disappointed us last night against his old team.

5-star play: Collin Sexton, Trae Young, Clint Capela

4-star play: John Collins, Kevin Huerter, Larry Nance

Deeper Value: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Danilo Gallinari, Isaac Okoro, Cedi Osman

GPP Sleeper: Kevin Huerter

Boston Celtics @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: 222

Vegas Spread: Bos -11

Here we have the Celtics taking on the basically brand new Rockets team with the addition of Kevin Porter Jr. I expect this game to stay closer than we expect as the Celtics have a tendency to play down to their competition and this feels like a trap game in Houston. Starting with the Celtics, Jayson Tatum has been struggling a bit the past month, but this is a get right matchup for him against the undersized Rockets team. Jaylen Brown also draws a really good matchup here and he should bounce back after that 6-23 shooting performance the other night. Kemba Walker has also been on fire, and the Rockets are allowing a ton of FPs to opposing guards over the past few weeks. Daniel Theis also draws a solid matchup here as he should play some decent minutes as well, and if you think that this game blows out then you can go to our fantasy darling in Robert Williams III. Now for the Rockets, Christian Wood and John Wall have already been ruled out here, so that puts the spotlight on Victor Oladipo especially with Eric Gordon out for the next 6 weeks. He’ll draw a ton of usage here. Kevin Porter Jr. is everyone’s new favorite player, as he has put up back to back 40+ performances but the price has come up, but he’s still too cheap for me given the role he’s going to have with Wall out tonight and Gordon out for the foreseeable future. He’s still too cheap everywhere. Justin Patton and Jae’Sean Tate will also play big minutes here with PJ Tucker out of the picture, and both are still too cheap here as well. Kenyon Martin Jr. has also had two back to back great games as well, and he should see 30+ minutes again tonight and he’s still minimum salary on FanDuel. Sterling Brown will also see big minutes as well and he’s cheap everywhere too.

5-star play: Jaylen Brown, Kevin Porter Jr., Victor Oladipo

4-star play: Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker, Sterling Brown, Justin Patton, Jae’Sean Tate

Deeper Value: Kenyon Martin Jr., Sterling Brown, Justin Patton, Robert Williams

GPP Sleeper: Kenyon Martin Jr., Robert Williams III

Portland Trail Blazers @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Vegas Total: 234

Vegas Spread: Por -5

This is another solid game for us to target, as both of these teams are bad defensively and play at a very fast pace. Damian Lillard is going to play a ton of minutes and gets a phenomenal matchup against this terrible T-Wolves defense. Gary Trent should also bounce back after a bad shooting night, and he lost a lot of his spotlight to Carmelo Anthony who was terrific off the bench. Robert Covington should also play big minutes and the matchup is great here as well against his old team. Enes Kanter also gets a great matchup as well as KAT is still pretty bad down low and we saw how this game played out last night and I think we can expect fireworks here again tonight as these two teams put up 246 points of offense. Now for the Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns finally got it going last night, after disappointing us all year long. The matchup is really great for him going up against Kanter again and he should be able to feast once again tonight. Anthony Edwards has also been on fire and makes for a great play once again here tonight. Ricky Rubio also draws another fantastic matchup as Dame doesn’t play defense, and Jake Layman is also a really good value play if he starts again as he played 28 minutes last night. Juancho Hernangomez is also in play for value as well, but my favorite is going to be Jaylen Nowell once again as he should play heavy minutes off the bench with McLaughlin out again tonight. Great spot to target from a fantasy perspective.

5-star play: Damian Lillard, Karl-Anthony Towns

4-star play: Carmelo Anthony, Anthony Edwards, Ricky Rubio, Robert Covington, Enes Kanter

Deeper Value: Juancho Hernangomez, Jake Layman, Jaylen Nowell

GPP Sleeper: Jaylen Nowell

Toronto Raptors @ Chicago Bulls

Vegas Total: 228.5

Vegas Spread: Chi -3

This should be another interesting game, as the Raptors will be without VanVleet, Siakam, and OG once again tonight and now Boucher has popped up as a GTD as well. Kyle Lowry will get all the usage and minutes he can handle, and he should be able to abuse Coby White all night here. If he is out Aron Baynes will have to play big minutes, after Nick Nurse gave us the finger last night by only playing him for 12 minutes. DeAndre Bembry also played 25 minutes last night and he’s a solid value play as well. Norman Powell will be the guy here alongside Lowry though, as its tough playing this guessing game with Nick Nurse’s rotation with all the Covid issues they have right now. Now for the Bulls, Lauri Markkanen and Otto Porter Jr. have returned, and both of them being back takes a ton of usage away from Zach LaVine. However, given the matchup and lack of depth for the Raptors here tonight, all 3 of those guys are going to be in play as they should all be able to get whatever they want here. Wendell Carter Jr. has also been playing some good basketball as well, and he’ll go way underowned in all formats tonight. Coby White has the toughest matchup of any of the Bulls, but given the lack of depth for the Raptors he should be able to take advantage against what has to be a tired Kyle Lowry. Tomas Satoransky should also get some decent run here for the Bulls and he is always a GPP favorite of mine as his minutes shoot up when Coby White struggles, which has been often this year. Overall this is a solid game to target, but I’ll likely be staying away from Raptors value outside of Lowry and Powell who we know are guaranteed minutes.

5-star play: Kyle Lowry, Norman Powell, Zach LaVine

4-star play: DeAndre Bembry, Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter, Wendell Carter Jr.

Deeper Value: Aron Baynes, Terence Davis, Tomas Satoransky

GPP Sleeper: Tomas Satoransky, Aron Baynes

Los Angeles Clippers @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 232

Vegas Spread: Lac -6

This is actually a really nice hammer game to target, as we have the second highest total on the slate, and both of these teams should be very competitive here tonight as the Pelicans have been playing some great ball as of late. Starting with the Clippers, the obvious play here is going to be Kawhi Leonard as he does it all for the Clippers and he has a ceiling of 60+ in a pace up game like this. Paul George comes in at a close second, especially if Patrick Beverley is out here as he’ll see some more ball handling duties. Lou Williams just hasn’t been the same off the bench without Harrell this year, but he is still firmly in play for GPPs as he has those random break out games from time to time. Serge Ibaka hasn’t really fit in with this group, but he’s a decent play in GPPs here tonight if you’re looking to get action in this late game. Ivica Zubac has also been playing some decent ball as well off the bench, but you’re going really deep if you’re going there. Now for the Pelicans, Zion Williamson is the premier play as he’s too big and strong for most of these Clipper defenders, and I think Kawhi will be preoccupied with Brandon Ingram so Zion is the guy I want here. Lonzo Ball has also been phenomenal as of late and he gets a nice matchup here if Patrick Beverley were to miss. Eric Bledsoe could also see a lot of run against his old team, but the guy I want there is going to be Josh Hart coming off the bench as he’s been playing heavy minutes and does a little bit of it all for the Pelicans. Overall this is a solid game to target.

5-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Zion Williamson

4-star play: Paul George, Brandon Ingram, Serge Ibaka, Eric Bledsoe, Lonzo Ball

Deeper Value: Lou Williams, Josh Hart

GPP Sleeper: Josh Hart

NBA Lock of the Day:

(Kenyon Martin Jr. FD: $3,500 DK: $4,500)

Him and KPJ have been playing great over the past 2 games, and FanDuel forgot to raise him price, but DK made a small adjustment but he’s still way too damn cheap. Both those guys will play heavy minutes and at minimum on FanDuel you’re not going to get another guy for this price playing this many minutes. Lock him in tonight and move on.
