Philadelphia 76ers @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: 234

Vegas Spread: Phi -4.5

It looks like Simmons and Embiid will continue to be out here due to contact tracing, so this opens up a lot of value as we saw last night for the Sixers. Tobias Harris will be the main beneficiary as he’ll handle all the usage with that first team and the Wizards are horrible defensively. Dwight Howard was also core last night despite not starting, and even if Tony Bradley starts again, but both are in play for value. Shake Milton will also see a ton of usage off the bench, and he should go overlooked tonight as well. Seth Curry also draws a favorable matchup given how bad the Wizards are defensively. I still won’t play Danny Green though, and I suggest you don’t either. However, if Matisse Thybulle gets the start again he makes ofra great value play as well. For the Wizards, it looks like Bradley Beal is trending towards being out, which opens up a ton of usage for Russell Westbrook and the Sixers have actually been trending downward against guards the past few weeks. Deni Avdija and Rui Hachimura would be the biggest beneficiaries if Beal were to miss. Mo Wagner and Robin Lopez have been splitting minutes for whatever reason at the 5 which puts a damper on both of their ceilings. Raul Neto will also likely draw the start with Beal out, he becomes an elite value on this slate as well. This is definitely a game that we want to target for sure given how fast the Wizards play.

5-star play: Russell Westbrook, Tobias Harris

4-star play: Rui Hachimura, Raul Neto, Shake Milton, Seth Curry

Deeper Value: Raul Neto, Deni Avdija, Tony Bradley, Matisse Thybulle

GPP Sleeper: Deni Avdija, Matisse Thybulle

Denver Nuggets @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 227.5

Vegas Spread: Den -3

This should be a solid game to target as well, as the Grizzlies have been playing really well going into the All-Star Break and I think that this game should be competitive. Nikola Jokic is your main target here, as JoVal is too big and slow to be able to keep up with him. Jamal Murray also draws a favorable matchup here going up against Ja who is still a work in progress defensively. Michael Porter Jr. has also been trending upward, as long as Millsap continues to be out, it also puts Will Barton into play here as he gets some ball handling duties. Monte Morris would also be put in play for value if Harris remains out, as he’ll likely start alongside Murray if Harris is out again. PJ Dozier would also be a deep MME type play if Campazzo is out, as he’ll see a good amount of minutes off the bench. Now for the Grizzlies, Ja Morant draws the best matchup of any of the Grizzlies as Murray isn’t known for his defense. Dillon Brooks has also been trending in the right direction, he’ll get a nice boost if Harris remains out tonight. Kyle Anderson is a solid cash game option, but he’s not someone I’ll be targeting in GPPs. With Anderson healthy, it puts Brandon Clarke back to the bench, which I don’t hate for him going up against this Nuggets 2nd team. Desmond Bane will also be in play if he continues to start, he’s a solid value either way as his minutes have been trending upward. I won’t be heavy on Jonas Valanciunas as the matchup against Jokic isn’t one I typically seek out, but his price is still solid on FanDuel.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Ja Morant

4-star play: Michael Porter Jr., Jamal Murray, Dillon Brooks, Jonas Valanciunas

Deeper Value: Desmond Bane, Kyle Anderson, PJ Dozier, Will Barton

GPP Sleeper: Desmond Bane, Brandon Clarke

Cleveland Cavaliers @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 229

Vegas Spread: Nop -7

The Cavs are trending in the right direction, as this young core is something they can start to build around. Collin Sexton has been the most consistent, and he draws the best matchup here going up against Lonzo here tonight. Darius Garland has also been solid, but I think he’s priced right around value so he’s not someone I’ll be going out of my way to play. Jarrett Allen has also been a god send here replacing Drummond, but he gets a tough matchup here against Steven Adams. The Pels are also on the 2nd half of a B2B here so that is something to keep in mind. Larry Nance also looks like he’ll be back here, which puts a damper on Cedi Osman, and Taurean Prince. Now for the Pelicans, Zion Williamson has been on a tear, despite last night where the Pelicans got steam rolled by the Timberwolves. Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe are also in play again as well, Lonzo in particular has been shooting really well from 3 so he can light it up in GPPs if he gets hot. Steven Adams had a solid double double last night as well and the Cavs aren’t exactly a powerhouse inside. Josh Hart continues to play heavy minutes off the bench as well, he’s a solid value here tonight. Brandon Ingram has also taken a back seat to Zion over the past few weeks, but his price has come down to where he is very playable once again in GPPs.

5-star play: Zion Williamson

4-star play: Collin Sexton, Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram

Deeper Value: Josh Hart, Taurean Prince

GPP Sleeper: Josh Hart

Miami Heat @ Chicago Bulls

Vegas Total: 219.5

Vegas Spread: Mia -2

The Heat are on the 2nd half of a B2B here, so I could see them resting a guy or two, despite them coming off the All-Star Break. However, if everyone is good to go, Jimmy Butler is an elite play here tonight going up against his old team, as the Bulls are a nightmare defensively. Goran Dragic is also a great play here at his price given that the Bulls are horrible against guards. Bam Adebayo missed last night, so he’s someone to keep an eye on here, because if he is out again then it is a major boost to Kelly Olynyk who has had two great games in a row. Precious Achiuwa would also be a solid value play here, but I’d prefer him to start. They started KZ Okpala last night, he would be a GPP value play as well, but I’d prefer Achiuwa. Now for the Bulls, Zach LaVine’s usage takes a nose dive with both Lauri Markkanen and Otto Porter Jr. back. We’ll need one of them to be out or his price to drop before he becomes playable again, as he is still over 9K. Coby White has also been trending in the right direction, but this is a tough matchup for him as the Heat are very solid defensively against guards. Tomas Satoransky is a guy I’ll take a few shots on in MME as well, as he tends to thrive when Coby White struggles. Overall this isn’t a game I’ll be heavily targeting from a fantasy perspective unless injury news opens up more value.

5-star play: Jimmy Butler

4-star play: Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter Jr., Coby White

Deeper Value: Goran Dragic, Tomas Satoransky, Precious Achiuwa

GPP Sleeper: KZ Okpala, Precious Achiuwa, Tomas Satoransky

Orlando Magic @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total: 215.5

Vegas Spread: Sas -6.5

This should be another game that is kind of a snooze fest, but the Magic are close to being back at full strength as Aaron Gordon returned last night after missing the last month. They’re also on the 2nd half of a B2B so I could see him sitting this one out as they work his conditioning back before giving him full minutes. If that is indeed the case, then Nikola Vucevic would be the biggest beneficiary, as he still went off last night even with Gordon present. Evan Fournier would also see a nice boost in usage, specifically the scoring department. Michael Carter-Williams is also in play for value here, as his price doesn’t move and the Spurs are one of the worst teams in the NBA against PGs. Terrence Ross is also in play here given his ability to score off the bench and with how bad the Spurs defense is. Now for the Spurs, they will be parting ways with LaMarcus Aldridge, so that is already a major boost to DeMar Derozan and he gets a matchup tonight where the Magic are allowing the most FPPG to opposing SGs of anyone on the slate over their last 7 games. Dejounte Murray also sees a boost, but outside of Derozan this Spurs backcourt is crowded with Derrick White and Patty Mills both healthy. Keldon Johnson should also see a nice boost here as he was struggling going into the break but this is his opportunity to take that role. Jakob Poeltl has a tough matchup but is still in play with Aldridge gone, and even Luka Samanic should pick up some meaningful minutes with Aldridge out of the picture as they didn’t play Lyles even 10 minutes last game.

5-star play: Nikola Vucevic, DeMar Derozan

4-star play: Evan Fournier, Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Jakob Poeltl

Deeper Value: Terrence Ross, Michael Carter-Williams, Luka Samanic

GPP Sleeper: Michael Carter-Williams

Houston Rockets @ Utah Jazz

Vegas Total: 228

Vegas Spread: Uth -17

The big news for the Rockets here is whether or not John Wall will play, I have a feeling they wanted to stagger him with Victor Oladipo who I can see resting tonight and them flip flopping roles here. Either way, both have tough matchup against this Jazz team. PJ Tucker is out of the picture now as well, so that opens up a ton of minutes for both Jae’Sean Tate and Justin Patton, both are really solid plays here at their prices. Eric Gordon may also sit here as he was a GTD as well, but if he plays and one of Wall or Oladipo are out then he becomes a solid play as well. Now, my boy Kevin Porter Jr. made his return last night and showed why he was an early first round pick. This dude has tons of talent and I can’t wait to see what he does here. I can see him playing heavy minutes here tonight and the price tag is still low everywhere. Now for the Jazz, Rudy Gobert draws a great matchup as the Rockets are too undersized to be able to contain him, so he should have a field day down low tonight. Donovan Mitchell also has a great matchup as the Rockets are basically bleeding FPs to all opposing positions, but specifically PGs and SGs, so this puts Mike Conley into play as well. Bojan Bogdanovic was also starting to heat up before the break so he’s a decent GPP flier, but overall this game has blowout written all over it so I won’t be heavy on anyone here outside of Kevin Porter Jr.

5-star play: None

4-star play: Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, John Wall, Victor Oladipo, Mike Conley

Deeper Value: Bojan Bogdanovic, Eric Gordon, Kevin Porter Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, Justin Patton

GPP Sleeper: Kevin Porter Jr.

Indiana Pacers @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 216.5

Vegas Spread: Lal -4.5

Not exactly the hammer game we were looking for, as both of these teams are defensive minded and play at a slower pace. However, with AD still out, Domantas Sabonis should be able to get whatever he wants down low here as Marc Gasol is simply old and slow now. Myles Turner is also a really solid play here with his ceiling but he is definitely volatile. Malcolm Brogdon has been rock solid all year, but if Jeremy Lamb is healthy it puts a damper on his ceiling for sure. TJ McConnell has also been playing some great basketball of the bench so he’s a guy you can take a few shots on in GPPs, just don’t expect him to get 10+ steals again. Now for the Lakers, the heavy hitter is obviously going to be LeBron James with AD still out, as he’ll likely flirt with a triple-double here given that Indiana should be able to hang with the Lakers. Kyle Kuzma has also been solid with AD out, but I really like Dennis Schroder as an underrated GPP play here as he has quietly been putting up numbers with AD out. If you want to go for deeper value, Talen Horton-Tucker should get some solid run, as should Alex Caruso and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Overall though this won’t be a game that we want to target too heavily.

5-star play: LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis

4-star play: Myles Turner, Kyle Kuzma, Malcolm Brogdon, Dennis Schroder

Deeper Value: Talen Horton-Tucker, Alex Caruso, TJ McConnell

GPP Sleeper: Alex Caruso

NBA Lock of the Day:

(Kevin Porter Jr. FD: $4,900 DK: $3,200)

My boy KPJ made his long awaited return last night and showed us why he was an early first round pick. Add in that the Rockets are on the 2nd half of a B2B and may be without all of Wall, Oladipo and Gordon and they would be forced into playing him 30+ minutes. Dude does it all and I love him in all formats, but he is obviously a much better play at his price on DK, but I think he’s a borderline lock on both sites tonight given the injury news As always, check back here for updates throughout the day, and as always, stay updated in our VIP Coaching forums as news breaks throughout the day!
