Washington Wizards @ Memphis Grizzlies

Here we have two teams that play fast and loose, and this will be the primary game that I want to target tonight as the total is almost 15 points higher than the other game. Starting with the Wizards, Russell Westbrook has turned it on the past few weeks, as he has either had, or been close to a triple-double in each of the games leading up to the All-Star Break. He gets a great matchup against Ja here tonight. Bradley Beal is also in a prime spot, and even though it eats up a lot of salary I think you can pair the two if you want to be different in GPPs. Rui Hachimura plays the majority of the minutes at the 4 here as well, and he is one of the guys that gets over 30 minutes outside of Beal and Westy. The Wizards have kept a tight rotation, as Davis Bertans, Deni Avdija and Robin Lopez all saw 20+ minutes off the bench but they’ll only play 9 guys. I like Lopez in GPPs to be different as he is more in line to matchup with JoVal. For the Grizzlies, Ja Morant gets a great matchup here, as he has started to turn in on over the past few weeks of the season as well. Jonas Valanciunas is also in a smash spot here as well as the Wizards are statistically one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA against opposing big men. Brandon Clarke also saw 34 minutes the last time these two teams played as did Dillon Brooks and we know that the Wizards are not good defensively and play fast, which even puts Desmond Bane in play here especially if Anderson is out again. If Anderson misses tonight you can also go to Justise Winslow for value again with him finally healthy.
5-star play: Bradley Beal, Russell Westbrook, Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunas
4-star play: Rui Hachimura, Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke
Deeper Value: Davis Bertans, Robin Lopez, Desmond Bane, Justise Winslow
GPP Sleeper: Robin Lopez, Justise Winslow
San Antonio Spurs @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: 222.5
Vegas Spread: Dal -4
This should be a decent game, with all the Spurs likely back here with all the contact tracing issues that plagued them before the All-Star break. My favorite matchup is actually going to be Dejounte Murray as the Mavs are allowing a ton of FPs to opposing PGs, and I don’t think he’ll be too heavily owned after everyone saw what Ja did to the Wizards right before the break. DeMar Derozan is also a key cog in this Spurs offense, he will get his and he likes to ball out in games like this to show why he’s one of the best 2 guards in the league. It looks like Derrick White is also back here, so he should see some solid minutes and is a GPP sleeper, but his presence keeps Patty Mills’ ceiling a bit lower than it should be. LaMarcus Aldridge has been an overall disappointment this year, but this is a decent matchup for him tonight as it is for Jakob Poeltl as well. Now for the Mavericks, we know the two main stars here, as Luka Doncic is coming off his second All-Star game and he’s been great this year. The Spurs also allow a ton of FPs to opposing PGs so he’s a great play tonight, and I’ll likely have a lot of him and Bradley Beal. Kristaps Porzingis is also in play here, as the Spurs don’t have anyone that can matchup with him as he is a nightmare on opposing teams with his length. Josh Richardson has also turned it around, and he is their key to this Mavs team, if he gets going then they are going to make a playoff run for sure. Jalen Brunson and Maxi Kleber have also been playing solid minutes, as both saw 30+ in their last game before the Break, both are solid values again tonight as is Tim Hardaway Jr. as he’ll likely play close to 30 minutes off the bench. However, keep in mind that was with Luka out of that game so they’ll likely be in the mid 20ish range here tonight.
5-star play: Luka Doncic
4-star play: Kristaps Porzingis, Dejounte Murray, DeMar Derozan, Josh Richardson
Deeper Value: Jalen Brunson, Maxi Kleber, Derrick White, Patty Mills
GPP Sleeper: Tim Hardaway Jr., Jalen Brunson
NBA Lock of the Day:
(Luka Doncic FD: $11,000 DK: $10,700)
There’s really no way around it, the Spurs are flat out horrible against PGs, and given that FanDuel has switched Luka to small forward today it gives you some flexibility at your PG spot with the Wizards guards as well. He should be nice and rested coming off the break and ready to roll in this battle for Texas basketball supremacy, and given the likes of Dejounte Murray and DeMar Derozan guarding him, I like his chances to come close/ triple-double in this game as it should be very fast paced compared to their last game against the Thunder.
