Utah Jazz @ Atlanta Hawks

Vegas Total: 224

Vegas Spread: Uth -7.5

For the Jazz,  Donovan Mitchell has a great matchup here as the Hawks are pretty bad defensively against guards. Joe Ingles and Jordan Clarkson are both decent values, but I’d like both of them more if Mitchell was out. however. Rudy Gobert has quietly been crushing it the past few games, but the matchup isn’t the best for him here against Capela who has been having a career year, still he is very viable on a 5 game slate. Mike Conley is also in play from this Jazz team, as he has been a model of consistency so far, and the matchup is solid against Trae here who still needs to work on his defensive abilities. If you’re looking for a solid value in showdown, I like Bogdan Bogdanovic as he can fill it up when he gets hot.

For the Hawks, Trae Young is going to be the best play here, but the matchup leaves a lot to be desired as Conley is still a great defensive guard. Clint Capela has also been having a career year so far this year, and Gobert surprisingly gives up a lot of FPs to opposing bigs. John Collins is also in play here at his price, as his play has been picking up the past few weeks, but again this matchup leaves a lot to be desired as this Jazz team will slow the pace of this Hawks team way down. If Hunter misses again that will open up a lot of minutes for Kevin Huerter as well, so keep an eye on that.

5-star play: None

4-star play: Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Clint Capela, John Collins

Deeper Value: Kevin Huerter, Bogdan Bogdanovic

GPP Sleeper: Kevin Huerter

Golden State Warriors @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: Dal -4

Its the usual cast for the Warriors here tonight, Steph Curry is going to lead the offense here and has the highest upside of anyone on this slate going against Luka, as he’ll want to prove to everyone that he is still the best PG in the league and he’s coming off a massive game. Kelly Oubre is starting to heat up over the past 2 weeks but consistency is the main issue there, so he’s a great GPP play. Andrew Wiggins is also in play here but I don’t love his price tag on FanDuel. I do like James Wiseman if he continues off the bench, as he’s been much better there and gets a better matchup if that is the case, however he missed the last game so that is something to keep an eye on here today. Lastly, Draymond Green does it all here, as he can rack up rebounds and assists here and his price is pretty cheap with some upside.

For the Mavericks, Luka Doncic is going to be your premier play here, as Steph isn’t known for his defense and the Warriors have turned it around since the beginning of the year. Kristaps Porzingis has also been playing really well, but the Mavs are on the 2nd half of a B2B, so its something to watch if they’re not going to rest him tonight. If he is rested, that would open up a lot for Dorian Finney-Smith, Tim Hardaway Jr., Josh Richardson, and Willie Cauley-Stein would even be in play. I particularly like Richardson’s price if KP is out as he’ll have to do more offensively as well and he’ll be their anchor on defense.

5-star play: Luka Doncic, Steph Curry

4-star play: Kristaps Porzingis (if in), Josh Richardson, Kelly Oubre, Draymond Green

Deeper Value: Dorian Finney-Smith, Willie Cauley-Stein

GPP Sleeper: Dorian Finney-Smith

Portland Trail Blazers @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: Phi -9.5

For the Trailblazers, they have been starting to heat up, but this 76ers team should slow them down a little bit. Damian Lillard gets a tougher matchup here, as the length of Ben Simmons should bother him here. Carmelo Anthony is a great play here as well, especially if Derrick Jones Jr. misses once again as he’ll likely take 20+ shots and he’ll want to show up here. Enes Kanter gets a tough matchup here as well, especially if Embiid is in, as he’ll likely give him some issues downlow. Gary Trent Jr. is coming off a number of good games as well and as long as he continues to start he is in play with McCollum being on the shelf for a few more weeks.

For the Sixers, they’re on the 2nd half of a B2B, and Joel Embiid is coming off a huge game where he basically disappeared in the 2nd half. If he were to rest tonight, I’d have a ton of interest in Ben Simmons as he always steps it up against other starts and he should be able to get whatever he wants against Dame. Tobias Harris is a safe cash game play here, as the Blazers don’t really have anyone that can stop him and he does it all for this Sixers team. Coming off the bench, Shake Milton has continued to fill it up coming off the bench, but his price has come up. Seth Curry has been solid and is coming off one of his worst games of the year so I expect him to bounce back in this one. If Embiid were to miss it would also put Dwight Howard in play here as I won’t touch Tony Bradley after he’s burned us the past 2 times Embiid was out.

5-star play: Joel Embiid

4-star play: Ben Simmons, Damian Lillard, Tobias Harris, Enes Kanter, Gary Trent Jr.

Deeper Value: Seth Curry, Shake Milton, Carmelo Anthony

GPP Sleeper: Shake Milton, Carmelo Anthony

Houston Rockets @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 224.5

Vegas Spread: Mem -1.5

For the Rockets, John Wall was out last night due to rest purposes, so I’d expect him to be good to go for this one, and he gets a great matchup against Ja. Victor Oladipo has been playing really well and this Grizzlies team is not good defensively against guards but Wall being back caps his upside a bit. Eric Gordon will likely go back to the bench here, but I like him with that second unit as he’ll dominate usage. Christian Wood is also a great play here as well, as he can go nuclear and he’s coming off a bad game. If you’re looking to go deeper as well, DeMarcus Cousins’ price has come down a bit to where he is playable again, but if Wood were to miss this game he’d likely be a core play here.

For the Grizzlies, this is a much easier matchup than their last game, as the Pacers are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA and this Rockets team simply is not. Ja Morant gets a solid matchup here and will want to prove himself against John Wall. The health of Jonas Valanciunas will play a factor here as well, because if he is out it’ll open up more minutes for Xavier Tillman and Brandon Clarke with my preference being Clarke here. If JoVal is out here I’ll actually have a few shares of Kyle Anderson as well, as he will slide to the 4 at points and it’ll secure more minutes for him. You never love to play him, but on a slate where there isn’t a ton of value yet, he’s viable here.

5-star play: Christian Wood, Ja Morant

4-star play: Victor Oladipo, Eric Gordon, Brandon Clarke

Deeper Value: Kyle Anderson, Xavier Tillman, Jae’Sean Tate

GPP Sleeper: Eric Gordon

Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 219.5

Vegas Spread: Lal -5

For the Nuggets, this is a big game for them after the Lakers knocked them out of the Western Conference Finals last season. Nikola Jokic has been on a tear this entire year, and he just put up a 70 FP game in their last game and I can see him going for a similar performance here tonight. Jamal Murray is also a bit underpriced here, but the matchup isn’t the greatest as the Lakers are very good defensively, but he’s pretty cheap for the type of ceiling he has. Michael Porter Jr. has a high ceiling in games like these, but he’s going to be a GPP only type play for me tonight because his defense is still a work in progress which could keep him off the floor a bit more than usual in this game. Gary Harris is a solid value play as well as they’ll need him on defense, but I like him more on FanDuel. JaMychal Green is also in play for value here in the event of a blowout as he has been their sparkplug off the bench this season.

For the Lakers, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both actually probable tonight after being questionable in just about every game so far this year. Dennis Schroder rounds out the big 3 for them here, but his ceiling is always going to be capped as long as AD and LeBron are both in as they dominate the usage with that first team. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has been a defensive spark plug as well for the Lakers, and if he hits a few 3s in this game he can be a solid value on a small slate like this. Kyle Kuzma is a decent value off the bench, but I’m not too excited about him here either. Not much to love for this hammer game outside of some of the Nuggets guys if I’m being quite honest.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, LeBron James, Anthony Davis

4-star play: Dennis Schroder, Jamal Murray

Deeper Value:  JaMychal Green, Michael Porter Jr., Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

GPP Sleeper: JaMychal Green, Michael Porter Jr.

NBA Lock of the Day:

Steph Curry (FD: $9,900 DK: $9,800)

Steph is going to be my lock of the day here, as he has been heating up over the past week and the matchup is really solid against Luka here. He proved me right the other night so I’m going right back to the well here as this should be a fast paced and competitive game, so I think he has a floor of about 50 and a ceiling of about 75 if his shot is falling early.  I love that this is in the late game as well as your lineups will be able to play catchup with him and this game has sneaky shootout potential.
