Toronto Raptors @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: NA

Starting with the Raptors, Fred VanVleet is on another level right now, he’s got at least 50 DraftKings points in three of his last four, it’s a great matchup as well, I just don’t know if I can stomach playing him at this price tag. I’ll call him a secondary option for now, but a fringe 5-star option due to the pace the Wizards play at. Kyle Lowry left after eight minutes last game with a back injury but isn’t on the injury report here so he should be good to go. I love this price tag on him as long as he’s not restricted by any means. Pascal Siakam has been pretty volatile this season but has at least 50 DraftKings points in two of his last three games and gets a great matchup here. Norman Powell continues to play great basketball but it sounds like OG Anunoby will be questionable here. If he plays it takes Powell out of play, Anunoby will likely be on a minutes limit so it would take them both out of play until he’s back to 100%. Lastly, Chris Boucher seems to be back in the good graces of Nick Nurse, he has at least 27 minutes in three straight games and is a very good point per minute player on the season. We know the minutes are volatile which is why I’m not going here in cash, but he’s certainly in play for tournaments. From the Wizards, Russell Westbrook should be back here and man do I love this price on him. He’s going to stuff the stat sheet while he’s in there and if he’s knocking down shots, even better. I have a feeling I may fall in the Westbrook trap again, but we’ll see as we get closer to lock tomorrow. Bradley Beal’s price still feels too cheap here even with Westbrook back, he’s averaging just about 50 DraftKings points per game on the season. Rui Hachimura looked good last game going for 32.5 DraftKings points, he should continue to see good run here and is at a fair price tag. Davis Bertans played 38 minutes last time out against the Bulls and put up just 21 DraftKings points, he just isn’t the same player we saw last year right now. The rest of this frontcourt is kind of a mess as they rotate the three stooges of Mo Wagner, Alex Len, and Robin Lopez.

5-star play: Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry, Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal

4-star play: Pascal Siakam, Rui Hachimura

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Davis Bertans, Chris Boucher, Deni Avdija

Atlanta Hawks @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: 233.0

Vegas Spread: Dal -4.0

Starting with the Hawks, Trae Young has finally started to see a price increase and getting near that $10k price tag on DraftKings. He has at least 50 DraftKings points in nine of his last ten games and is a guy I’m willing to go right back to here. Clint Capela finally had a bounce-back game last time out going for 52 DraftKings points. The Mavericks are pretty weak in the frontcourt so he should be able to have some nice production in this one, I just don’t know that I want to pay this price tag for him. John Collins dropped 53.5 DraftKings points on the Hawks earlier this season, he can be volatile though so more of a GPP guy for me. With De’Andre Hunter out, Danilo Gallinari has seen his minutes trend in the right direction, he saw 25 last game and was able to score 26.75 DraftKings points, I like taking a shot on him here at this price tag. Then Kevin Huerter and Cam Reddish round out this team as deeper tournament targets as well. From the Mavericks, we kind of know the deal with this team, it’s Luka Doncic and it’s Kristaps Porzingis, and pretty much nobody else. Luka had a down game last time out going for just 42.5 DraftKings points, but this is a great matchup and on national TV, I like him here. I was all over Kristaps against the Wolves last game and he went bananas. His price came up a bit and he’s been volatile this season, so if people are going to chase that performance I have no problem being under the field on him. The only other guy I would have interest in from this team is Josh Richardson who has looked really good since returning from injury.

5-star play: Trae Young, Luka Doncic

4-star play: Clint Capela, John Collins, Kristaps Porzingis, Josh Richardson

Deeper Value: Danilo Gallinari

GPP Sleeper: John Collins, Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish, Tim Hardaway Jr.

Indiana Pacers @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: NA

Starting with the Pacers, I am just going to be all over any team that is playing the Nets until they can figure out how to play some sort of competent defense. They gave up 122 points and lost by 11 to the worst team in the Eastern Conference yesterday. Domantas Sabonis? Yup sign me up at $8.6k on DraftKings. $7.4k for Malcolm Brogdon, yup, I’m in. It sounds like lazy research, but it truly is that simple against this Nets team. Myles Turner has had a bad three-game stretch so I don’t hate getting off him a bit but he’s still a very good tournament option. Then you can round out this team with secondary options like Justin Holiday and Jeremy Lamb who have flashed some nice games this season. From the Nets, Kevin Durant will be out again here which means you can go back to the well on James Harden and Kyrie Irving who looked good last night. Harden dropped 62 DraftKings points while Irving was at 44.5, they’re both in play here even though I don’t love the matchup. Joe Harris had a down game but still saw 34 minutes, if he gets hot from the field he’ll pay off his salary so I don’t mind him for tournaments. Bruce Brown came off the bench to play 26 minutes and drop 28 fantasy points, he’s a nice low-end option here if you need one. DeAndre Jordan is a fine GPP center as well but not sure what kind of ceiling you should expect out of him, and I think there are better options than Jeff Green in his price range.

5-star play: Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, James Harden

4-star play: Kyrie Irving, Jeremy Lamb, Justin Holiday, Myles Turner

Deeper Value: Bruce Brown

GPP Sleeper: Myles Turner, Justin Holiday, Jeremy Lamb, Joe Harris, DeAndre Jordan

Charlotte Hornets @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total: 226.0

Vegas Spread: Mem -4.0

Starting with the Hornets, Devonte’ Graham will be out again in this game so we have that extra little bit of usage and minutes to go around. Terry Rozier has been a solid option as of late, he was in for a bigger night last time out but they blew the doors off the Rockets and only saw 27 minutes, I have no issue going right back to him here. LaMelo Ball has at least 50 DraftKings points in two of his last three games and is looking like the odds on favorite for rookie of the year right now. The price is getting up there on him, but it’s certainly warranted. Gordon Hayward has been solid of late as well, it’s kind of an awkward price tag on him, but I could be talked into him if you want to go there. Cody Zeller has come down to Earth a bit recently with the help of three straight blowouts. This isn’t the greatest matchup against Joe Val and company, but his size will be needed so I would expect his minutes to come back up as long as this one stays competitive. From the Grizzlies, they’ll be without Brandon Clarke and De’Anthony Melton again here which opens up some minutes. However, we’ll start with Ja Morant, we’re still waiting for that explosion game from him where he goes for 50+ fantasy points, but when it happens I want to have some of him so he’s in play here. Jonas Valanciunas looked great last game going for 60.5 DraftKings points while grabbing 20 rebounds. The Hornets are the leagues worst rebounding team when it comes to DFS, it’s hard not to like Joe Val in this one. Kyle Anderson will benefit a bit from Clarke being out, he has at least 30 fantasy points in two straight games. He’s never a sexy play, but you can get some of him here. Lastly, Dillon Brooks finally had a bounce-back game against the Raptors going for 38.25 DraftKings points. You can go back to him here, he scored 35.8 fantasy points against the Hornets earlier this season and is at a pretty fair price tag on DraftKings.

5-star play: LaMelo Ball, Jonas Valanciunas

4-star play: Terry Rozier, Cody Zeller, Gordon Hayward, Ja Morant, Kyle Anderson, Dillon Brooks

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Dillon Brooks, PJ Washington

Los Angeles Clippers @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: NA

Starting with the Clippers, Paul George will miss this game, so we can run some data with him off the court this season:

  • Kawhi Leonard – 32.4% usage rate; 1.38 fpm
  • Luke Kennard – 17.6% usage rate; 0.79 fpm
  • Reggie Jackson – 22.4% usage rate; 0.97 fpm
  • Lou Williams – 26.9% usage rate; 1.11 fpm

Marcus Morris, Serge Ibaka, and Nic Batum should see a slight boost as well but really wanted to highlight these backcourt guys. I would expect Luke Kennard to continue to start for George here but he isn’t producing enough for me to really have much interest. Lou Williams has seemed to find his footing as of last, he has back to back 30 point fantasy outings and I don’t hate going right back to him. Kawhi Leonard is the obvious guy you want here, however, he scored just 36 DraftKings points in an elite matchup against the Kings with George off the court last time out. I’m hoping this keeps people off him here so we can play him at lower ownership. From the Timberwolves, it seems like Karl-Anthony Towns is getting to close to a return here, but is listed as doubtful for this one. D’Angelo Russell is listed as questionable as well after playing just six minutes last time out. Even if Russell plays I just don’t see a reason to risk going with him considering his injury issue. Malik Beasley had a night last time out going for 57.25 DraftKings points, I wouldn’t expect that kind of production here but I think you can play him as a secondary option. This frontcourt is a mess right now and not really something I want to be playing, if I had to pick a guy it would be Naz Reid but even he saw just 21 minutes last game. Lastly, Anthony Edwards has at least 39 DraftKings points in two straight games, you can make a case for him in tournaments as well.

5-star play: Kawhi Leonard

4-star play: Malik Beasley, Anthony Edwards

Deeper Value: Luke Kennard

GPP Sleeper: Serge Ibaka, Lou Williams, Reggie Jackson, Naz Reid

New Orleans Pelicans @ Chicago Bulls

Vegas Total: 230.5

Vegas Spread: Nop -3.0

Starting with the Pelicans, Josh Hart tore up the Rockets last night going for 53.75 DraftKings points. He had 17 rebounds which is pretty insane for a guard. I wouldn’t expect that kind of production again here but at a similar price as a guy like Luke Kennard, give me Hart all day long. Brandon Ingram came back down to Earth last night, but he played just 28 minutes which is well below his season average thanks to a blowout. The same can be said for Zion Williamson who got just 21 minutes but put up nearly 40 DraftKings points in his time on the court. Both guys see a pretty nice matchup here against a fast Bulls team. Lonzo Ball’s price is starting to get to a point where I don’t really want to be too heavy on him, although the Bulls have come up in some trade speculation for Ball, so maybe the Pelicans give him a few extra minutes to showcase him a bit in this one. Lastly, Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams are secondary GPP options, they’ve been pretty hit or miss over their last few games. From the Bulls, Zach LaVine’s price tag has gotten back into the $9k’s on DraftKings, he’s been pretty good as of late, however, going for at least 45 DraftKings points in three straight games. Thad Young should continue to see a solid role on this team with Wendell Carter and Lauri Markkanen out, he’s in play for tournaments. Coby White has been held under 30 DraftKings points in five straight games, I’m going to need to see it from him before I pay this price tag on him in this one. Lastly, Patrick Williams and Denzel Valentine will soak up the wing minutes with Otto Porter out again, they’re both solid plays even though we’ve seen their price tags come up a bit over the past week. I should mention Tomas Satoransky as well, he’s playing 20+ minutes off the bench at the expense of Coby White really, but he’s looked good in back to back games now and is another guy in that $4-$4.5k range that I would prefer over a starting Kennard.

5-star play: Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Zach LaVine

4-star play: Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Steven Adams, Thad Young, Denzel Valentine, Patrick Williams

Deeper Value: Tomas Satoransky, Josh Hart

GPP Sleeper: Josh Hart, Eric Bledsoe, Coby White

Cleveland Cavaliers @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 223.0

Vegas Spread: Den -9.5

Starting with the Cavaliers, Andre Drummond has 30 minutes in each of his last three games and the Cavs will need his size out there to help defend Jokic on the other end, I like him quite a bit here, he’s shown to be one of the better per minute producers in the league this season. Jarrett Allen got the start next to Drummond last game and we may see the same thing in this one, he played 34 minutes on his way to 23.75 DraftKings points, but to see both him and Drummond with at least 34 minutes is intriguing. Collin Sexton is priced about right here, I don’t hate him but don’t love him at the same time. Darius Garland has looked good as of late, he has at least 30 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. Larry Nance has been ruled out for this one, it will be a combination of Cedi Osman and Taurean Prince who fill in while he’s out, I would expect Prince to get the start and to see more minutes. From the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic continues to put up huge numbers, he now has at least 61 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. Drummond’s defense doesn’t particularly scare me on the inside either, I like Jokic as a raw option on this slate. Jamal Murray ended up playing 37 minutes after going into the last game as questionable but put up just 22 DraftKings points, I don’t hate going back to him in GPPs though due to the ceiling we know he has. Michael Porter Jr. has been pretty average as of late, but we know that normally has a calm before the storm feel to it. He’s not a guy I’m going to get a ton of but I would want at least a sprinkle in GPPs. Lastly, Will Barton had nearly 30 DraftKings points in the first half last time out and ended with 35.25, so whatever heater he was on cooled off pretty quick. He’s a fine GPP option but not a guy I’ll get much of at all.

5-star play: Andre Drummond, Nikola Jokic

4-star play: Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Jamal Murray

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince, Cedi Osman, Michael Porter Jr., Will Barton

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 217

Vegas Spread: Lal -10.0

We just saw this game last time out so we have something to work with here. Starting with the Thunder, this team has been a mess over the past week with all their guys being out and seems like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is going to go back to being out here. Meaning we can go right back to guys like Hamidou Diallo, Lu Dort, and Kenrich Williams. Keep an eye out for a starting lineup on this one, but these guys should be forced into heavy minutes again here as it looks like they’ll have just eight active guys in this one. Darius Bazley had a massive game in this one last time out, I like going right back to the well on him here, he’ll see all the minutes he can handle. From the Lakers, it sounds like Anthony Davis is questionable while LeBron James is probable. I’m going to operate under the assumption that Davis is out again so we can sort of play off last games data, and let’s be honest, they don’t really need him here to be eight guys on the Thunder, non of which named Gilgeous-Alexander. LeBron James has a 34% usage rate and close to 1.5 fantasy points per minute on the season with Davis out and dropped 74 DraftKings points last game giving him three straight games with at least 60 DraftKings points.  Then you can make a case for Montrezl Harrell, Kyle Kuzma and Dennis Schroder for GPPs if you want more exposure to the Lakers in a nice matchup.

5-star play: LeBron James

4-star play: Al Horford, Kyle Kuzma, Dennis Schroder, Darius Bazley, Hamidou Diallo, Lu Dort

Deeper Value: Isaiah Roby

GPP Sleeper: Darius Bazley, Montrezl Harrell, Kenrich Williams, Isaiah Roby

Milwaukee Bucks @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: NA

Vegas Spread: NA

Starting with the Bucks, Jrue Holiday was a surprise scratch last game and will be out the rest of the road trip due to safety precautions. Here is what the Bucks look like on the season with him off the court:

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo – 32.1 % usage rate; 1.65 fpm
  • Khris Middleton – 25.5% usage rate; 1.53 fpm
  • Bryn Forbes – 20.7% usage rate; 0.73 fpm
  • Donte DiVincenzo – 19.4% usage rate; 1.00 fpm

Bryn Forbes saw the start for him last game, I would assume we get the same starting lineup here, you can make a case for Forbes at his price tag, he actually has 23+ fantasy points in three of his last four games, he’s just extremely scoring dependent and has shot at least 50% in those games, so I would assume that comes down with time. It’s worth noting that Giannis had nearly 2 fantasy points per minute with Bledsoe off the court last year so we may see him take some additional usage here as well. Khris Middleton looked great last game going for 63 DraftKings points, I don’t know that I would expect that again, but over 1.5 fantasy points per minute with Jrue off the court this season. From the Suns, Chris Paul missed the last game and is questionable again here. If he’s out we can go right back to Devin Booker who dropped 54 DraftKings points last game and matches up really well with a Bucks team giving up three-pointers like they’re going out of style. His assist rate sees a nice uptick as well with Paul off the court as you might imagine. DeAndre Ayton looked good last game as well, I have no issue going back to him here we know he comes with a nice ceiling. Mikal Bridges has at least 34 DraftKings points in two straight games and is a guy I like if Jae Crowder and Dario Saric are going to continue to be out. Frank Kaminsky has been a beneficiary of them being out as well. He played 29 minutes last game on his way to 25 DraftKings points.

5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Devin Booker

4-star play: Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, DeAndre Ayton, Mikal Bridges

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Bobby Portis, Donte DiVincenzo, Frank Kaminsky

NBA Lock of the Day: Malcolm Brogdon (DK – $7.4k; FD – $7.2k)

As I mentioned with the game breakdown, I’m simply going to be attacking teams that are playing the Nets going forward until they can figure out some way to play NBA defense. They gave up 122 points to the last place Pistons yesterday and were torn up by guys like Jerami Grant and Delon Wright. Malcolm Brogdon should be able to do the same here at a really nice price. He’s averaging about 40 DraftKings points per game on the season, if he scored 40 here it would put him at nearly 5.5x his DraftKings price tag, so even if just lives up to his season average we’re looking good. I don’t see the Nets being able to guard him and the price tag makes it even better. The thing I love with Brogdon is you’re not sacrificing a floor to get a huge ceiling, he’s a very consistent player and someone I’m going to get a ton of tonight. When the NBA Research Station – DFS Army comes out in the morning I would expect him to be one of the better point per dollar options in his price range. Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
