Milwaukee Bucks @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: 229
Vegas Spread: Mil -7.0
We kick this slate off with the Hornets, Gordon Hayward has been a little volatile as of late, but the minutes are what you’re going after here. He’s played at least 38 in four straight games and has shown a huge ceiling. It’s a pretty big pace up spot for the Hornets so I like getting right back to him. LaMelo Ball got 30 minutes out of nowhere last night and dropped 35.5 DraftKings points per minute. He’s going to be a nice per minute producer, but the minutes are what have been the issue. He’s in play for GPPs because we know what his ceiling is. Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham have been the more consistent players, due to their more secure minutes. That said, as you saw last night, you want to target guys who can shoot three’s against the Bucks because they’re just going to leave the guy wide open. Both Rozier and Graham fall into that category and make sense here. PJ Washington dropped 40 DraftKings points last night but this is a tough matchup against the Bucks who will have Giannis and Lopez roaming around the paint. Lastly, Cody Zeller is finally at a price where I don’t think we need to force him in any longer. He’s still probably a little too cheap but he’s not sub $4k so we can consider him a secondary option at center. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo played 39 minutes last night which has me a little worried that if this one gets out of hand he’ll be the first guy off the court. But, as we can see from last night, predicting blowouts is extremely hard, especially this season. He has at least 63 DraftKings points in two straight games and is an elite raw option here. Khris Middleton is a consistent producer but I just can’t pay this price for him, there are better plays in this price range in my opinion. Jrue Holiday had a nice bounce-back game last night against his old team, he’s going to fill up the stat sheet while he’s out there and this is a fair DraftKings price on him. Brook Lopez should be able to do whatever he wants here against a Hornets frontcourt that is pretty weak. The only issue with Lopez is he’s rarely in the post so that won’t much matter here, the guy that you’ll see in the post when he’s in there will be Bobby Portis. Lastly, Donte DiVincenzo and Bobby Portis continue to put up respectable numbers and are in play for tournaments at their respective price tags.
5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Gordon Hayward
4-star play: Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez
Deeper Value: Cody Zeller
GPP Sleeper: LaMelo Ball, PJ Washington, Donte DiVincenzo, Bobby Portis
Portland Trailblazers @ Chicago Bulls
Vegas Total: 232
Vegas Spread: Chi -2.5
Starting with the Blazers, Damian Lillard is going to continue to be a top option while McCollum and Nurkic are out. I would expect he’s able to do whatever he wants here against a pretty bad Bulls defense, he’s a really solid option. Enes Kanter is another guy I like here, with Wendell Carter out for the Bulls there isn’t much in terms of size to stop Kanter down low. Carmelo Anthony is going to play heavy minutes but he really needs to shoot well for you to feel good about playing him. He shot 20% last game and was still able to manage 23 DraftKings points but he’s looking at close to a 40 point night if he knocks down some shots. Gary Trent Jr. had a big game last time out but he’s even more scoring dependent than Melo is. Keep an eye on the status of Robert Covington, if he’s out again these wings will be in play, guys like Trent Jr., Rodney Hood, and Melo will see all the minutes they can handle. From the Bulls, I like Zach LaVine here, his price has come down from the mid $9k’s a little over a week ago and this Blazers defense is pretty terrible. Coby White has been really volatile this season, he’s a tournament only guy here for me just because he does have the ability to get hot from the floor. Lauri Markkanen hasn’t performed how I’ve expected with Carter Jr. out, I figured he’d slide over and play some center and put himself in line for some bigger games but he’s been pretty average. He’s a fine secondary option just due to the implied total and spread here. Lastly, Otto Porter and Thad Young both make sense as GPP options if you’re looking for more pieces on this team.
5-star play: Damian Lillard, Zach LaVine
4-star play: Enes Kanter, Carmelo Anthony, Coby White, Lauri Markkanen
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Gary Trent Jr., Coby White, Thad Young, Otto Porter Jr.
Sacramento Kings @ Miami Heat
Vegas Total: 225
Vegas Spread: Mia -5.5
Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox’s price tag has come down to a range that I’ll be much more willing to play him in. He’s had at least 40 DraftKings points in four of his last five games and makes sense as a nice GPP option at the very least. This is a tough spot for Richaun Holmes and Marvin Bagley who will have to deal with Bam Adebayo down low, but they’re still guys that I’m okay getting with due to their recent production if we ignore their games last night. Buddy Hield will always be in play for tournaments due to his ability to put up points in a hurry, and he’s getting big minutes this season which is nice to see. It wouldn’t surprise me if they shipped him at the deadline, but we’ll see on that! Harrison Barnes is in good form as of last, he has at least 37 DraftKings points in three straight and is a fine secondary option here. Tyrese Haliburton had a big game last night and has at least 36 DraftKings points in two of his last three. The minutes are what I’m looking at here and he has at least 30 in three straight games, he’s a solid option at a nice price point on DraftKings. Lastly, Hassan Whiteside got 20 minutes last game and gets a revenge game against the team that essentially gave up on him, I don’t hate a sneaky dart throw on him at near min salary for tournaments. From the Heat, they’ve been such a mess this season, it’s a team that you’re going to have to just jump in our VIP Coaching forums on for updates on who the targets are here. With Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and pretty much the whole bench questionable right now, it doesn’t make sense to even try and break them down, come join us in the chat for updates on them! I will say, whoever is in play for the Heat get a great matchup against one of the worst defensive efficiency teams in the league.
5-star play: Bam Adebayo
4-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Richaun Holmes, Marvin Bagley, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes
Deeper Value: Hassan Whiteside
GPP Sleeper: Buddy Hield, Hassan Whiteside
Houston Rockets @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total: 223
Vegas Spread: Hou -1.0
Starting with the Rockets, Christian Wood returned last game to play 32 minutes on his way to 41.5 DraftKings points. I think you can go right back to him here, Steven Adams plays pretty solid defense down low, but I like Wood’s upside, he’s shooting a ton this season. Victor Oladipo dropped 46.25 DraftKings points last time out even with Wall back, I don’t hate going right back to him here. Speaking of John Wall, he got his minutes back up to 30 last time out, I would assume he’s off whatever restriction he was on, he’s a nice play here at a pretty affordable price tag. DeMarcus Cousins is a straight fade with Wood now back, he played just 11 minutes last game and will likely be held under 20 here again, his price is through the roof for someone who will get under 20 minutes. Other than the main three guys, you can make a case for Eric Gordon, but with everyone healthy, I’d just rather not at this price tag. From the Pelicans, Lonzo Ball and Eric Bledsoe shot lights out last night, and I mean absolutely lights out. I’m not expecting them to do the same tonight, but they both have nice price tags. Ball in particular who is $5k on DraftKings, he played 35 minutes last night and is looking like one of the better values on the slate right now. The price on Zion Williamson is far too low as well, he should be able to do what he wants in this one, Christian Wood’s defense doesn’t scare me in the paint one bit. Brandon Ingram is the one guy who doesn’t seem underpriced, I don’t see myself getting too much of him here. Lastly, Steven Adams is underpriced as well if you need a mid-range center option.
5-star play: Christian Wood, Lonzo Ball, Zion Williamson
4-star play: Victor Oladipo, John Wall, Eric Bledsoe, Steven Adams
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Eric Gordon, Eric Bledsoe, Brandon Ingram
Los Angeles Lakers @ Boston Celtics
Vegas Total: 218.5
Vegas Spread: Lal -2.0
Starting with the Lake show, Anthony Davis and LeBron James come into this one listed as questionable as always, I’m just going to assume they play until they don’t. LeBron James has been the far better producer this season while Davis has struggled a bit. That said, you can beat the Celtics in the paint so I don’t mind taking a shot on both of these guys. If they both play I don’t have a lot of interest in the rest of this team. Montrezl Harrell had a chance to step up last game with Davis out and put up just 15 DraftKings points. I will have some Dennis Schroder interest though, he’s priced pretty low and will see minutes here so I like him for GPPs at the very least. Boston seems like they’re finally healthy again, Jayson Tatum will have his hands full with Davis in this one but he dropped 43.25 DraftKings points last time out, you can make a case for him here. I actually like the upside on Jaylen Brown more with Tatum in the rotation to draw the defense off him a bit. I don’t love the price tag, but it will keep his ownership down, he’s a tournament only guy for me. Kemba Walker had a down game last time out, but if people are going to be off him here I have no issue going right back to the well. Lastly, Marcus Smart is never really a guy I get to but you can make a case for him in GPPs if you want more action on this one. I have no interest in trying to guess who in the frontcourt will have the big game tonight, it’s a tough matchup regardless.
5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum
4-star play: Dennis Schroder, Kemba Walker, Marcus Smart
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Dennis Schroder, Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart

Memphis Grizzlies @ San Antonio Spurs
Vegas Total: NA
Vegas Spread: NA
Starting with the Grizzlies, the big news here is that Jonas Valanciunas will be out. We were ready to fire up Xavier Tillman last time this team was set to play but they got postponed, so let’s fire him up tonight! I would expect he sees the majority of the center minutes and DraftKings didn’t price him up at all. He’s played at least 28 minutes in back to back games and has at least 25 DraftKings points in both. He’s looking like one of the best value options on the slate right now. Ja Morant dropped 66 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, I like going right back to the well on him at a really cheap price tag. Then the trio of Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, and Kyle Anderson are all GPP plays for me, you can make a case for Clarke in cash however, he may see some center minutes in this one. From the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan dropped 47.75 DraftKings points last time out and has a nice price tag on him, I like going right back to the well here. Dejounte Murray continues to produce nicely, I still think he’s way too cheap here and a nice option in all formats as long as Derrick White is still out. Keldon Johnson has at least 34 DraftKings points in three of his last four and has seen his price drop below $6k on DraftKings, I like him as a tournament option. Lastly, LaMarcus Aldridge just never floats my boat, but the price tag is really low on him if you’re looking for someone in this range, you could do worse.
5-star play: Xavier Tillman, Ja Morant, DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray
4-star play: Dillon Brooks, Brandon Clarke, Kyle Anderson, Keldon Johnson, LaMarcus Aldridge
Deeper Value: Xavier Tillman
GPP Sleeper: Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson, Keldon Johnson,
Phoenix Suns @ Dallas Mavericks
Vegas Total: NA
Vegas Spread: NA
Starting with the Suns, Devin Booker will be sidelined again here so we can take him off the court in our research. DeAndre Ayton has been pretty underwhelming the past few games, this is a spot that he should be able to take advantage of. The Mavericks frontcourt is less than stellar on defense so he’s a nice center option. However, we all know who the stud is we want in this game… FRANK THE TANK! That’s right, Frank Kaminsky dropped 44.25 DraftKings points against the Warriors last time out, but I’m just yanking your chain. He’s really not in play here in anything other than a deep tournament. Chris Paul had a down game last time out as well going for just 25 DraftKings points, but you can go back to him here with Booker still out. It’s been these wings that have picked up Booker’s slack recently, Jae Crowder, Mikal Bridges, and Cameron Johnson are all in play at their respective price ranges. From Dallas, Luka Doncic has just 45 DraftKings points in two straight games, this is a sneaky tough Phoenix defense, but we know Doncic is matchup proof, he’s an elite raw option. Kristaps Porzingis has just been flat-out bad recently, he got in foul trouble last game which hurt him but his price is coming down so I think you can get here in tournaments in hopes that he gets hot from the field. Other than these two guys, there really isn’t a whole lot that I’m interested in from Dallas, they’re similar to the Lakers in that it’s basically just the main guys soaking up all the usage.
5-star play: DeAndre Ayton, Chris Paul, Luka Doncic
4-star play: Jae Crowder, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Kristaps Porzigins
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Cam Johnson, Tim Hardawy Jr.
Detroit Pistons @ Golden State Warriors
Vegas Total: NA
Vegas Spread: NA
We’ll round out the slate with the Pistons and Warriors! From the Pistons, Jerami Grant has actually come down to Earth a bit over has past few games. That said, I love the spot for him now that his price is back down to a reasonable number. He’s a very solid cash option if you’re looking for someone in the hammer game. I just can’t pay this price tag for Delon Wright while Wayne Ellington and Derrick Rose are both healthy, so he’s a no go for me. Blake Griffin is a guy that I can never get right, but his price is fair enough where you can go to him in GPPs. Mason Plumlee has at least 34 DraftKings points in two straight games and is a nice point per minute player. The only issue with him is he tends to take himself out of games with foul trouble, however, I don’t see that being an issue against this frontcourt. Lastly, I touched on Wayne Ellington and Derrick Rose, they’re both fine GPP options in this one. From the Warriors, Steph Curry has had two down games in a row but is always a guy that I’m going to have tournament exposure to due to his upside. Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre are both kind of meh for me, they’re both in pretty bad form but can be played in GPPs if you’re looking for some exposure. Draymond Green is a fine option as well, he’s not a big usage guy but will rack up the peripheral stats. Lastly, if James Wiseman starts you can get to him, but I don’t want anything to do with him coming off the bench.
5-star play: Steph Curry
4-star play: Jerami Grant, Mason Plumlee, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre, Draymond Green
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Delon Wright, Kelly Oubre, Andrew Wiggins
NBA Lock of the Day: Xavier Tillman (DK – $3.5k; FD – $4.6k)
We just touched on this game but I’ll expand a bit more on Tillman in particular! Jonas Valanciunas is going to miss this game again for the Grizzlies. With Valanciunas out last game, Tillman started and saw 29 minutes against the Suns after seeing 28 minutes against the Sixers the game before. He put up at least 25 DraftKings points in each of those games. He gets a great matchup against the Spurs who really don’t worry me with frontcourt defense. Another thing to love with Tillman is he’s PF and C eligible on DraftKings so you have some flexibility on roster construction with him. The Research Station below loves him as well, he’s projected for 25.6 DraftKings points which would put him at 7.3x his price tag over there, he’ll be the first guy in my lineups! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
