Portland Trailblazers @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: Hou -4.0

For the Blazers, your obvious top option here is Damian Lillard, as he is going to see a ton of usage as long as McCollum continues to be out here, and Gary Trent Jr. being back also helps this team, he is a really nice value here today considering he played 41 minutes last game. Carmelo Anthony is in play once again here as well, as he is stepping up with McCollum going down, and FanDuel is refusing to raise his price. Enes Kanter also draws a favorable matchup here as the Rockets don’t defend bigs well, it’ll just be a matter of him being able to keep pace in this game. With Covington out again it’ll also open up more minutes for Derrick Jones Jr. although he is very volatile so he’s a GPP only play for me tonight.

For the Rockets, Christian Wood looks like he’ll be back tonight, which takes DeMarcus Cousins out of play at his current price.  John Wall and Victor Oladipo are both really good plays here as well, as this should be the highest total game of the night. I particularly like Wall here given the price and matchup, as he’ll want to prove himself against Dame. Eric Gordon is a a solid mid-range play here, especially if he comes off the bench. Wood being back definitely kills some of the value here, but overall I think you can target those 4 guys on the Rockets as they should all have the most usage, the other guys aren’t values anymore with Wood being back as is throws the rotation back to normal and they’re all priced up because of the last few games.

5-star play: Christian Wood, John Wall, Damian Lillard

4-star play: Enes Kanter, Carmelo Anthony, Victor Oladipo, Gary Trent Jr.

Deeper Value: Eric Gordon, Derrick Jones Jr.

GPP Sleeper: Gary Trent Jr.

Los Angeles Lakers @ Detroit Pistons

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

This should be the most boring game on this slate, as the Lakers have been blowing teams out like the Pistons this year, simply because the Pistons just aren’t very good. Your main two targets here will be LeBron James and Anthony Davis per usual, but I’m not going out of my way to play either of these guys given the matchup. If either of them miss for any reason, it’ll open up some value for guys like Dennis Schroder, Kyle Kuzma, and Montrezl Harrell, but overall this isn’t a game I’ll be targeting tonight.

For the Pistons, Jerami Grant has simply been doing it all for them, and he draws a tougher matchup here, but he’s shown that he’ll get his in this Pistons offense. Mason Plumlee has also stepped up for this Pistons team, but he’s priced up in a tougher matchup against AD tonight. Wayne Ellington presents a decent value here, especially if he can get hot from 3, and with it being a 2nd half of a B2B, I would expect the Pistons rest Derrick Rose, so that opens up for minutes and usage for Josh Jackson off the bench and his minutes are blowout proof. Delon Wright also draws the best matchup of any of these Pistons starters, but as I said again, this isn’t a game I’m going out of my way to target tonight.

5-star play: LeBron James

4-star play: Jerami Grant, Anthony Davis, Mason Plumlee

Deeper Value: Delon Wright, Wayne Ellington, Josh Jackson

GPP Sleeper: Josh Jackson

Los Angeles Clippers @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

For the Clippers, we’ve got some big news here, as both, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both out tonight due to COVID protocols, so this will open up a ton of value for this Clippers team. Ivica Zubac is in play for GPPs, as he’s been playing heavy minutes off the bench, but its hard to trust him as they tend to roll with the hot hand between him and Ibaka. Pat Beverley is also out here tonight due to his knee, so the Clippers will be very limited here. Nic Batum also disappointed last game out which should keep the public off of him, we can use that for leverage tonight. With both of Kawhi and PG13 being out tonight, it’ll open up a ton of value here for the Clippers, Reggie Jackson, Lou Williams, Terance Mann, and Luke Kennard should also see major usage boosts, but we’ll need a starting lineup before we figure out who the plays are. My favorite being Reggie and Terance Mann.

The Heat are on the 2nd half of a B2B, and the big news here will depend on if Tyler Herro and Goran Dragic play, they both missed last night. If he is out Kendrick Nunn becomes a great play who didn’t hit value last night simply due to the blowout, and with all the guys from the Clippers missing I don’t see this game blowing out. Bam Adebayo should have a field day here especially against the likes of Ibaka and Zubac. Duncan Robinson will also have to take a ton of shots here, and he even played 36 minutes in the blowout last night so those minutes are secure as long as Dragic and Herro are out. If one of those two guys are in, then they will both be phenomenal plays here against what is essentially this Clippers 2nd team.

5-star play: Reggie Jackson, Bam Adebayo

4-star play: Nic Batum, Kendrick Nunn (if no Dragic or Herro), Lou Williams, Duncan Robinson

Deeper Value: Terance Mann, Luke Kennard

GPP Sleeper: Terance Mann

Golden State Warriors @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: Phx -1.5

For the Warriors, Steph Curry had a down game last night, but simply because he didn’t need to go off against the Timberwolves as his teammates all chipped in. Kelly Oubre seems to have broken out of his shooting slump, and Draymond Green is a threat to triple-double anytime he’s on the floor, however he hasn’t had much usage so far this year but he should have success against this Suns team. James Wiseman has also been playing much better off the bench and sees a nice usage increase with that 2nd team. Andrew Wiggins is also in play here but the Warriors aren’t the team I’ll be looking to target in this hammer game.

Both these teams are on the 2nd half of a B2B, and the big news will hinge on the status of Devin Booker for this Suns team. As of now I’ll assume that he is out given he was out last night and the Suns won’t want to mess with a hammy. Chris Paul becomes an elite play as his usage will go through the roof as we saw last night taking 21 shots. DeAndre Ayton should bounce back here as the Warriors get destroyed by bigs. Assuming Booker is out it’ll also open up things for both Jae Crowder and Cameron Johnson as well. Mikal Bridges should also see an increased role after he dudded last night.

5-star play: Steph Curry, Chris Paul

4-star play: DeAndre Ayton, Jae Crowder, Kelly Oubre, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins

Deeper Value: Jae Crowder, Cameron Johnson, James Wiseman

GPP Sleeper: DeAndre Ayton

NBA Lock of the Day:

Gary Trent Jr. (FD: $4,800 DK: $5,000)

The Blazers gets an elite matchup here tonight, as the Rockets simply do not play defense and love to push the pace, and a faster pace means more fantasy points! The Blazers will once again be without CJ McCollum, and with Trent returning to the starting lineup he played 41 minutes last game! He scored 28.2 FPs against an OKC team that is much better defensively and plays much slower than this Rockets team, so I expect we get a floor here of about 5x value with a ceiling of 40+ FPs. Trent should smash value just simply on the minutes he plays alone, never mind if he gets hot from the field.
