Los Angeles Lakers @ Milwaukee Bucks
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Lal -1.5
We kick this short slate off with a great game between what could be an NBA Finals preview, signed, the hopeful Bucks fan… anyway, we’ll get started with the Lakers here. LeBron James is listed as questionable while Anthony Davis is probable. With this being a national TV game I would expect them both to play here, and the Vegas spread supports that. The prices on these guys are really nice especially in a game that should stay competitive where both guys see their full run. Davis averaged 54.13 DraftKings points per game against the Bucks last season and is a guy I like getting to at this price tag. Meanwhile, LeBron James averaged 60 DraftKings points per game in those two games. He’s the type of guy that will see Giannis on the other side and want to show up for this game, both these guys are elite options at really cheap price points. Dennis Schroeder is a fine option, he’s priced right about where he should be, he’s a solid play on a short slate. Montrezl Harrell hasn’t been a guy I’ve gotten to that much this season, but you can make a case for him here, this is the type of game environment where he could do well. However, when you’re playing the Bucks you really want to target guys who can shoot the three, and that really isn’t Harrell’s game. Lastly, Kyle Kuzma is a fine option, but I’m expecting this to be the LeBron and Davis show in this one. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to play heavier minutes this season in close games. He made it a point of emphasis this offseason with coach Bud and it’s showing. He played 40 minutes last time out against the Nets on his way to 65 DraftKings points. You can go right back to him here in a game that should be competitive. Khris Middleton’s price has come down to a really nice level, I like him a lot here especially for cash games, he’s really consistent. The same can be said for Jrue Holiday, he’s getting minutes in the upper 30’s and is a guy I like getting to. Man do I have a soft spot for Bobby Portis, especially at THIS price tag. He’s been up near $6k on DraftKings lately, and now we get him near $4k? Yes, please. His minutes have come down as of late, but he’s the sixth man on this team that they look to for bench production, I love him in this spot. Lastly, Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo are playing nice minutes and producing well in them, both are nice options in all formats.
5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton
4-star play: Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, Brook Lopez, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis
Deeper Value: Bobby Portis
GPP Sleeper: Brook Lopez, Montrezl Harrell, Donte DiVincenzo
New York Knicks @ Golden State Warriors
Vegas Total: 215.5
Vegas Spread: Gsw -4.5
Starting with the Knicks, Julius Randle’s price has come down to below $9k but does have a tougher matchup in having to deal with Draymond on the other end. That being said, Randle does enough stuff outside of the paint where I’m not going to worry about the matchup all that much, he’s a nice option here. RJ Barrett has back to back games with at least 40 DraftKings points, you can go right back to him here, he’s a guy that should continue to see heavy minutes. Mitchell Robinson has seen his minutes come up but really hasn’t been all that impressive in them. This is a nice spot for him however against a pretty weak frontcourt. Lastly, Elfrid Payton is more of a GPP guy now that Alec Burks is back, both guys are in play for tournaments on a three-game slate tonight. From the Warriors, Steph Curry bounced back last night to drop a 50 burger, I like going right back to him here against a Knicks defense that won’t be able to guard him. Andrew Wiggins has been fairly consistent as of late, I don’t hate playing him in tournaments, but he’s never really a guy I get to in cash games. The same can be said for Kelly Oubre, although it looks like he may have started to find himself this season, he has at least 30 DraftKings points in two straight games. We kind of know what we’re getting ourselves into with Draymond Green. He’s not a big usage guy and he’s not going to score a bunch of real-life points, but he racks up all the peripherals, he’s in play here. Lastly, James Wiseman is a nice tournament play and bounced back last time out.
5-star play: Julius Randle, Steph Curry
4-star play: RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre, Draymond Green
Deeper Value: James Wiseman
GPP Sleeper: Mitchell Robinson, Elfrid Payton, Alec Burks, Andrew Wiggins
New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: 217.5
Vegas Spread: Uta -6.5
We just saw this game last time out for these two teams, so we have something to work off of here. Starting with the Jazz, the price tags on Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are better this time around. They’re both solid options given the size of the slate and both performed well in this matchup last time out. Mike Conley was the one who had the down game, I’m okay getting back to him here if people are going to see that game and be off of him. Jordan Clarkson is on a tear right now and scoring in bunches off the bench, his price is getting up there though. Probably more of a GPP guy at this price tag. Lastly, you can make a case for Bojan Bogdanovic in tournaments, but know what you’re getting yourself into, he needs to shoot well in order to get you there. Joe Ingles being out helps secure those minutes, however, for both him and Clarkson. From the Pelicans, Lonzo Ball returned last game and played 23 minutes, I would expect those minutes to come up here and maybe get near 30. His price has come down and is firmly in play for me here. Nickeil Alexander-Walker saw 31 minutes last game even with Bledsoe and Ball back, as mentioned I think Ball’s minutes will come up but maybe he’s made himself a role in this rotation and guys like Redick and Hart will see fewer minutes. Zion Williamson has at least 40 DraftKings points in four of his last five games. It’s a tough matchup against Rudy Gobert and company, but Zion’s athleticism allows him to dodge some of that and his price has come down. Eric Bledsoe saw his minutes come down a bit last game, but this is what he’s going to be this season. In some games, he’ll look great and get good run, and in some games he’ll run himself off the court, he’s a fine tournament option.
5-star play: Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Zion Williamson
4-star play: Mike Conley, Brandon Ingram, Eric Bledsoe, Nickeil Alexander-Walker (if starting), Steven Adams
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic, Josh Hart, JJ Redick, Eric Bledsoe
