Welcome to another year of the DFS Army NBA Full Court Press! Members had a ton of success using the Full Court Press along with various articles and tools that DFS Army provides last season, so we are glad to be back with another year of the all-inclusive article. You have to start your research somewhere, and oftentimes going game by game and breaking down every matchup and its key players is the first step in our process. My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the advice in the article. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

I do want to give a quick shoutout to VIP Member “Klorjuste” who took home a nice $200k last night!! A pretty solid way to head into the New Year, congrats!

Boston Celtics @ Detroit Pistons

Vegas Total: 213.5

Vegas Spread: Bos -9.0

I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year! We’ll kick things off with the Boston Celtics who come in as nine-point favorites against the Pistons. Jayson Tatum had a dud of a game last time out in just 23 minutes, that said, this is a nice bounce-back spot against a bad defense. Jaylen Brown is coming off his biggest game of the season where he went for 57.75 DraftKings points in just 29 minutes of work. He shot a lights out 71% from the field including seven three-pointers. I wouldn’t’ expect that kind of shooting performance again but he has shown a nice ceiling this season and is in play again even with a pretty big price increase. Marcus Smart has been really consistent lately, going for at least 31 DraftKings points in three of his last four games, I don’t mind going to him as a secondary play here. It sounds like Tristan Thompson will be back for this game so we can disregard guys like Robert Williams and Daniel Theis given the size of the slate and the unknown amount of minutes they’ll split up. From the Pistons, Blake Griffin will be out for this game which should open up minutes and usage for my man Josh Jackson. I love playing this guy, he’s not afraid to go out there and demand all the usage. He’s scored at least 32 DraftKings points in games where he’s played more than 20 minutes this season. Even in a tough matchup tonight I like him. Jerami Grant has proved me wrong this season, he’s playing massive minutes and playing well in them. He’s now the highest price Piston, as he should be. I would expect him to see another 35+ minutes here. Mason Plumlee had a dud last game but you can target big men against this weak Celtics frontcourt, so if the field will be lower on him I’ll be overweight. Lastly, Derrick Rose is a usage monster, I wish he saw minutes in the 30’s more consistently but he’s in play for GPPs.

5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jerami Grant, Josh Jackson

4-star play: Mason Plumlee, Marcus Smart, Derrick Rose

Deeper Value: Sekou Doumbouya

GPP Sleeper: Sekou Doumbouya, Derrick Rose

Memphis Grizzlies @ Charlotte Hornets

Vegas Total: 220

Vegas Spread: Cha -3.5

We’ll start with the Grizzlies, who lost their star player in Ja Morant last time out and will be looking to fill in for him as best they can. I would expect Tyus Jones to be the biggest benefactor although he saw just 23 minutes in a blowout loss to the Celtics last game. This game should be more competitive, I like going back to the well here. Jonas Valanciunas seems to be getting more consistent minutes this year and is generally a point per minute monster. There isn’t anyone in this Hornets frontcourt that will be able to slow him down, he’s an elite play at an escalated price which I think keeps ownership down on him. Dillon Brooks looks great right now, he has at least 29 DraftKings points in three of his first four games this year and with Ja off the court his usage and shot quantity will go up, he’s a great play in a nice matchup. Kyle Anderson continues to play well, but you won’t catch me paying $6k for him on a 10 game slate, ever, I refuse. From the Hornets, Gordon Hayward came back down to Earth a bit last game, but this is a nice spot for the Hornets in a pace up matchup. I like the price tag a good amount on him. Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham continue to look like similar plays in my eyes, I don’t love them but don’t hate them, you can do worse in this price range. PJ Washington got into foul trouble last game which kept me from winning a ton of money and him to just 18 minutes. It’s a tougher matchup this time out but if he can stay out of foul trouble he’s shown he can produce fantasy numbers. LaMelo Ball looked legit last time out going for 44.5 DraftKings points. Keep an eye on his minutes, that was the first game he saw more than 20 minutes, so I don’t want to chase here but if he starts seeing those minutes go up he’ll be a guy to monitor. Lastly, Bismack Biyombo should continue to see 30 minutes here, it’s a tough matchup, but a low-end center option at worst.

5-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Gordon Hayward

4-star play: Dillon Brooks, Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, Bismack Biyyombo

Deeper Value: Desmond Bane

GPP Sleeper: Kyle Anderson, PJ Washington

Miami Heat @ Dallas Mavericks

Vegas Total: 225.5

Vegas Spread: Mia -1.0

Starting with the Heat, it sounds like Jimmy Butler is going to be back for this one, so the price increase on guys like Tyler Herro and Goran Dragic are much less appealing considering the usage that is going to come back into this lineup. Bam Adebayo is coming off a big game last time out but he has a much higher fantasy point per minute production with Butler off the court and saw a price increase as well. I like him considering the matchup, but would stick with GPP only. The price on Butler is fair, but keep an eye out for any sort of minute restriction on him. That pretty much rounds out my interest in this team, they’re just too priced up right now. I guess you can always make a case for Duncan Robinson in tournaments just in case he gets hot, he has a nice price tag but that’s about it. From the Mavericks, Luka Doncic didn’t look so hot in their last game when he was chalk, now he has to deal with this tough Heat defense. He’s matchup proof and did see a price reduction, so if people will be off him I won’t shy away from jumping right back on him. Josh Richardson and Tim Hardaway Jr. are fine GPP options but not guys I’ll probably get much of at all. Lastly, Maxi Kleber is questionable here, if he misses it could vault Dwight Powell into additional minutes, and would be a guy I like at just $4k.

5-star play: Luka Doncic

4-star play: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo

Deeper Value: Dwight Powell, James Johnson

GPP Sleeper: Duncan Robinson, Josh Richardson, Tim Hardaway

Atlanta Hawks @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 244.5

Vegas Spread: Bkn -6.0

This game has a massive game total and is one you’ll want to get some exposure to on this slate. We just saw this game the other night and the game ended with a total of 286… there’s going to be some big DFS production in this one. From the Hawks, it sounds like Clint Capela will be good to go here while Danilo Gallinari is out. Capela gets a nice matchup against a Nets frontcourt that I’m going to continue to target with big men, but I don’t think the minutes will be there just yet for him, he hasn’t seen over 20 minutes yet this season as they continue to bring him back slowly. John Collins had a big 48 point DraftKings night last time out, as long as he gets 30 minutes he should be productive and with Gallinari out I think that helps his chances. I really like that DraftKings price tag on him. Trae Young should be able to do whatever he wants here and has at least 50 fantasy points in three of his first four games. He is now over $10k which I don’t love, but when you’re in a game that’s going to be this fast paced, I like him regardless. Lastly, Bogdan Bogdanovic looks great and is a guy I’ll have some interest in, he’s a secondary option in all formats. Lastly, Cam Reddish did well in that last game and with Gallinari out, I like his price tag for tournaments. From the Nets, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving are both in play yet again. Kevin Durant is still underpriced, he showed off what upside he can provide last game going for 63 fantasy points, I’ll go right back to him here, and I’ll get a lot of him as it stands right now. Outside of them there really isn’t anyone else I love here, I guess you can make a case for DeAndre Jordan and Caris LeVert, maybe Joe Harris, in tournaments due to the total, but nobody I want to go too heavy on.

5-star play: Trae Young, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, John Collins

4-star play: Bogdan Bogdanovic, Joe Harris

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Bogdan Bogdanovic, DeAndre Jordan, Caris LeVert, Joe Harris, Cam Reddish

Chicago Bulls @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 234

Vegas Spread: Mil -14.0

Starting with the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo bounced back last time out with 68.75 DraftKings points. The thing with Giannis is always going to come down to minutes, he came into this year saying he wanted more minutes, as he should, and it looks like Budenholzer is going to honor that as long as it’s a competitive game. The Bucks have played essentially two competitive games and he saw at least 36 minutes in both of them. So, going forward if I anticipate the game to be close, I’m going to fire up as much Giannis as possible, but in a game like tonight with a 14 point spread, he’s a fade. It’s going to be that easy for me from here on out. Khris Middleton has started the season on fire, and he honestly looks like one of the better scorers in the league outside of the paint. I like him in GPPs, it’s tough for him just because of the usage that Giannis demands. Jrue Holiday’s price went down and is around a 25% usage rate on the season, I don’t mind him in all formats, he can stuff the stat sheet. He’s looked great over his past couple of games. Lastly Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo make sense for GPPs, DiVincenzo looks like the real deal but has been volatile as well. You can make a case for Bobby Portis who gets a revenge game against his old squad and has looked good this season. From the Bulls, Lauri Markkanen and Tomas Satoransky are out tonight due to Covid protocols. We saw Otto Porter start for Markkanen yesterday and put up a big game going for 57 DraftKings points. He’s a guy that I’m going to get to when he’s guaranteed minutes like he should be tonight. Both Zach LaVine and Coby White looked good in that game as well, this is another game that should be pretty fantasy-friendly so I don’t mind going right back to them. Lastly, Wendell Carter is a guy I can never get right but he’s in play for GPPs.

5-star play: Otto Porter Jr.

4-star play: Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Zach LaVine, Coby White

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Donte DiVincenzo, Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Giannis Antetkokounmpo, Wendell Carter Jr.

Washington Wizards @ Minnesota Timberwolves

Vegas Total: 233.5

Vegas Spread: Min -1.0

Starting with the Wizards, it sounds like Russell Westbrook will be out for this one which opens up a ton of usage in this offense. We aren’t getting any kind of discount on Bradley Beal with that said. However, he has looked great this year and in a game where he should see 35ish minutes in a good matchup against the Wolves, count me in. Thomas Bryant looked good last time out but the rebounds haven’t been there this season, this can partially be attributed to Westbrook, so with him out I don’t hate going to Bryant in GPPs. Rui Hachimura looked pretty good in 25 minutes in his season debut last time out, I don’t think you need to go here on a big slate, but he’s a GPP dart if you’re looking for one. Lastly, I’ll wait for Davis Bertans to see consistent minutes before I feel great playing him. From the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns will continue to be out here. Naz Reid only saw 20 minutes last game with KAT out, but he would be my favorite replacement option. D’Angelo Russell’s price seems really nice here in a great matchup. With Towns off the court, last season Russell saw a 29.7% usage rate and just about a fantasy point per minute. I really don’t love anyone else on this team, you can make a case in GPPs for guys like Malik Beasley, Ricky Rubio, and Anthony Edwards but that’s about it.

5-star play: Bradley Beal

4-star play: D’Angelo Russell, Naz Reid

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Thomas Bryant, Malik Beasley

Los Angeles Lakers @ San Antonio Spurs

Vegas Total: 229.5

Vegas Spread: Lal -6.5

We just saw this game a few days ago so we have a bit of data to work with. I’ll start with the Lakers because we really need some news on them before we begin to analyze them. Anthony Davis sounds like he’ll be good to go here but LeBron James comes in as questionable. This will likely be the case for the Lakers for most of the season. I’ll operate as if they’re both in for now. However, keep an eye on the news from the Lakers and jump in our VIP coaching forums for updates and breakdowns on who they impact most. They’re both elite plays should they end up playing. The only other guy I would have interest in is Dennis Schroder, as I’m going to continue to target point guards against the Spurs all season. From the Spurs, I absolutely love DeMar DeRozan’s price did go up but I don’t think it went up enough, he has at least 41 DraftKings points in three of his first four games. Dejounte Murray continues to play well but it sounds like Derrick White will be back for this game, so will have to monitor how that impacts Murray’s minutes. I’m hoping Murray’s minutes stay the same while impacting Lonnie Walker but it’s a situation to monitor. LaMarcus Aldridge is questionable for this one after missing the last game, Jakob Poeltl would get the start if he’s forced to miss, but I won’t have much interest there.

5-star play: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, DeMar DeRozan

4-star play: Dennis Schroder

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, Lonnie Walker

Phoenix Suns @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: 222.5

Vegas Spread: Den -3.5

Starting with the Suns, Devin Booker has seen his price come way down, as it should, he’s been held under 40 DraftKings points in every game this season. I think you can get to him here at $8k, more of a GPP guy, but he’s playable at this price. This is a tough matchup for DeAndre Ayton against Jokic and he hasn’t looked great this year, he’s a fade for me right now. Honestly, outside of Booker for GPPs, there isn’t much on this team I like. They’re still figuring things out with Paul at point guard who has been up and down in his own right as well. The guy I would have the most interest in for cash games is Mikal Bridges, but even that is a reach. From the Nuggets, Michael Porter Jr. will be out for this game while Jamal Murray is questionable. This is a team that we just need to get some news on before we go much deeper. Porter being out will open up usage for the rest of this offense particularly guys like Will Barton, Paul Millsap, and Gary Harris. Nikola Jokic would run the offense as usual but even more so if Murray needs to miss. He’s been playing massive minutes and has at least 60 DraftKings points in three of his first four games.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic

4-star play: Devin Booker, Jamal Murray

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Devin Booker, Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton, Will Barton

Los Angeles Clippers @ Utah Jazz

Vegas Total: 221.5

Vegas Spread: Lac -3.5

Starting with the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard looked pretty good coming back from his mouth injury last time out. That said, this is a much better defense than the Blazers. The price is nice on him though so you can get here without much hesitation. Paul George had a nice game last time out but in a tough matchup and priced up it’s hard for me to trust him. Serge Ibaka has at least 30 DraftKings points in two straight but the minutes aren’t there, he hasn’t seen 25 minutes yet this season. Lou Williams has looked good in back to back games now but he’s in a similar boat as Ibaka where the minutes just aren’t there to a point where I wouldn’t feel great about playing him. Nic Batum should continue to start with Marcus Morris out, he’s looked pretty good and can be played as a low-end guy in this price range. From the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert are pretty similar options, however, I like the matchup much more for Rudy Gobert. Mike Conley came back down to Earth last night but still looked good going for 33 DraftKings points, he’s a nice secondary option. Bojan Bogdanovic just cannot find his shot this season, he went 0-5 last night… I don’t hate getting a sprinkle in GPP, he should be low owned and can get hot real quick. Lastly, Jordan Clarkson and Royce O’Neale both make sense as GPP options and I like O’Neale as a value play due to the minutes he’s getting.

5-star play: Kawhi Leonard

4-star play: Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley

Deeper Value: Royce O’Neale

GPP Sleeper: Nic Batum, Serge Ibaka, Lou Williams, Bojan Bogdanovic

Portland Trailblazers @ Golden State Warriors

Vegas Total: 235

Vegas Spread: Por -3.5

Starting with the Blazers, CJ McCollum has at least 50 DraftKings points in two of his last three games but came down to Earth last game, he’s not a guy I generally get to especially at this price tag. Damian Lillard is a guy I like here, this game has a big implied total and shouldn’t have much defense. A Lillard/Curry shoutout would be a fun GPP stack for a late-night hammer.  Jusuf Nurkic had a down game last time out but should be able to do whatever he wants in this one, he’s more of a GPP guy. Carmelo Anthony looked pretty good in his first game back and saw 25 minutes, he’s underpriced here and makes sense as a value option while guys like Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr. are GPP guys. From the Warriors, Steph Curry has looked great this season and would be my preferred point guard in this game but as I mentioned if you want to pair these two in GPPs and hope it turns into a shootout, I like it. Andrew Wiggins has looked great over the last two games, I don’t hate riding the hot streak here in a great matchup. Draymond Green is expected back here, I would think he’s on some sort of minutes limit so keep an eye on that, for now, he’s a fade for me until we know he’ll get his full minutes. James Wiseman has had back to back stinkers and has been in foul trouble, a matchup with Nurkic isn’t going to be friendly, he’s more of a fade as well.

5-star play: Damian Lillard, Steph Curry

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Carmelo Anthony, Andrew Wiggins

Deeper Value: Derrick Jones Jr., Carmelo Anthony

GPP Sleeper: CJ McCollum, Kelly Oubre, Jusuf Nurkic

NBA Lock of the Day: Bradley Beal (DK – $9.4k; FD – $9.5k)

As I mentioned above, Russell Westbrook will be out for tonight’s game and will open up all the usage in this offense. It’s a small sample size but this season with Westbrook off the court Beal has a 36.7% usage rate and 1.31 fantasy points per minute. In a great matchup against the Timberwolves, it’s hard for me to get away from Beal here. The Domination Station has him projected for 56.23 fantasy points tonight which would put him at nearly 6x his DraftKings price tag. The price, matchup, and open opportunity here is huge for Beal, and is a guy I’m going to get a ton of tonight! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
