Oklahoma City Thunder @ Denver Nuggets
Vegas Total: 221
Vegas Spread: Den -9.5
We’ll start this short slate with the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s price has come wayyyyyyy up to near $9k. He’s coming off a 58 DraftKings point outing but has shown to be pretty volatile on the season. That said, the Nuggets haven’t been the defensive team that we’ve come to expect. He’s in play for GPPs due to the size of the slate. Al Horford is out again here for Oklahoma City meaning we can target guys like Darius Bazley and Isaiah Roby yet again. Bazley hasn’t done anything all that impressive since his 43 point outing against New Orleans about two weeks ago but is in play here. Roby has shown to be a nice point per minute player and is one of my favorite value options on the slate, I would expect him to continue to start here. From the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic has at least 64 DraftKings points in three straight games and should be able to do whatever he pleases in this one. He’s the top raw option on this slate. Jamal Murray has bounced back and now has at least 40 DraftKings points in back to back games, the Thunder play little to no defense so he’s in play again. Will Barton is a guy you can get to in GPPs, he’ll continue to see good minutes until Michael Porter Jr. returns from his Covid absence. Lastly, the group of JaMychal Green, Paul Millsap, and Gary Harris are fine filler options on this two-game slate, they’ve each shown nice outputs recently.
5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Isaiah Roby
4-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Darius Bazley, Will Barton
Deeper Value: Isaiah Roby
GPP Sleeper: George Hill, JaMychal Green, Paul Millsap, Gary Harris
New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: 218
Vegas Spread: Uta -5.5
Starting with the Jazz, the price tags on Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert just don’t intrigue me. They’re fine options, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not something I’m seeking out. We kind of know what we’re getting with them and on a two-game slate, they’re playable. Mike Conley seems to have gotten back on track lately and in a good matchup, I like him as a secondary option. Jordan Clarkson is on a tear right now and scoring in bunches off the bench, his price is getting up there though. Probably more of a GPP guy at this price tag. Lastly, you can make a case for Bojan Bogdanovic in tournaments, but know what you’re getting yourself into, he needs to shoot well in order to get you there. Joe Ingles being out helps secure those minutes, however, for both him and Clarkson. From the Pelicans, Lonzo Ball is questionable here and for Brandon Ingram’s sake, man do I hope he returns. Nickeil Alexander-Walker has been starting in Ball’s place and soaking up so much usage in that first team that Ingram is suffering. If Ball returns I like Ingram, if Alexander-Walker starts again, I’ll be far off of Ingram at this price tag in this matchup. Zion Williamson has at least 40 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. It’s a tough matchup against Rudy Gobert and company, but Zion’s athleticism allows him to dodge some of that. Eric Bledsoe looked good last game, I don’t hate this price for him, he’s going to be volatile this season, we’ve seen that already, so not someone I want to go too heavy on in cash games. I touched on Alexander-Walker in terms of Ingram, but if Ball is out and he starts again you can go back to the well on him, he’s going to shoot while he’s in there and handle the ball a lot.
5-star play: None
4-star play: Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, Mike Conley, Brandon Ingram (if Alexander-Walker isn’t starting), Zion Williamson, Eric Bledsoe, Nickeil Alexander-Walker (if starting), Steven Adams
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Donovan Mitchell, Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic, Josh Hart, JJ Redick, Eric Bledsoe
