Miami Heat @ Philadelphia 76ers
Vegas Total: 223
Vegas Spread: Phi -10.5
Starting with the Heat, they’re going to be down some bodies again in this one. Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic, and Avery Bradley will all be out here so we can go right back to this team that crushed last time out. Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Kelly Olynyk, Precious Achiuwa, and Andre Iguodala all outperformed their salary last time out. They did get some price increases but with their performances last time out I don’t think the price increase was enough, so you can go right back to them here. From the Sixers, Joel Embiid went banana’s last time out dropping 80 fantasy points, you can go right back to him here against a weakened frontcourt with how many guys are out for Miami. Ben Simmons is probable here as well, I don’t love the price on him but he has triple-double upside every time he steps on the court. It does sound like Tobias Harris will return here so the Sixers are getting a bit healthier, he’s a good option as well, although I don’t exactly love the price tag. Seth Curry will continue to be out, but with that said, I’m not chasing the Danny Green game from last time out, that was a complete outlier I’ll let other people chase that game.
5-star play: Joel Embiid, Tyler Herro, Kelly Olynyk, Precious Achiuwa
4-star play: Duncan Robinson, Andre Iguodala, Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris
Deeper Value: Miami!
GPP Sleeper: Danny Green
Charlotte Hornets @ Toronto Raptors
Vegas Total: 220
Vegas Spread: Tor -8.5
Starting with the Hornets, Gordon Hayward is probable here and has been a bit volatile as of late, I don’t hate getting to him as a secondary option on a smaller slate though. LaMelo Ball had a down game last time out but if he’s going to be lower owned due to that I’m willing to go right back to him, he’s shown to be the real deal. Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham just aren’t guys I’ve been playing a whole lot this season. It’s a pretty loaded backcourt with these two guys and Ball, but you can get to them in GPPs. Lastly, the big men. Bismack Biyomobo is a fine option in his price range but PJ Washington has more upside in this matchup. From the Raptors, Pascal Siakam has turned up the heat, he has at least 50 DraftKings points in three of his last four games and is a guy I’ll look to get to here. The Hornets have been dreadful against opposing big men. This will put Chris Boucher in play as well who has really taken over that center position. Fred VanVleet and Kyle Lowry have been priced pretty similarly this season but VanVleet has shown the higher ceiling and the more consistent production. Even after coming off a down game last time out, he’s in play for me again here.
5-star play: Pascal Siakam
4-star play: Gordon Hayward, LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, Fred VanVleet, Kyle Lowry, Chris Boucher
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, PJ Washington, Bismach Biyombo, OG Anunoby
Houston Rockets @ San Antonio Spurs
Vegas Total: 218
Vegas Spread: Sas -7.0
We’ll start with the Rockets who will be playing their first game after trading James Harden. Not only will they be without Harden but I would expect they don’t see newly acquired Victor Oladipo either along with John Wall being out and Eric Gordon being questionable. This is a spot where I’ll probably just lock in Christian Wood honestly, he’s going to get all the looks he can handle in this one with all these guys out. Guys like David Nwaba, Sterling Brown, and Ben McLemore will see increased opportunity here as well. Keep an eye out for a starting lineup here as some value will likely open up. From the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan sounds like he’ll return here after missing a few games. He’s now PF eligible on DraftKings which is interesting, but I think you can go back to him here. Dejounte Murray has seen a big price jump, I don’t love the idea of playing him at this price tag but he’s shown a good enough ceiling for GPPs. DeRozan being back hurts Lonnie Walker’s increased production so I’ll be less on him than I have been. Lastly, Keldon Johnson and LaMarcus Aldridge have great matchups here against a weak defensive team so they make for solid options as well.
5-star play: Christian Wood
4-star play: Eric Gordon, David Nwaba, DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, LaMarcus Aldridge
Deeper Value: David Nwaba, Sterling Brown
GPP Sleeper: Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, LaMarcus Aldridge, David Nwaba, Sterling Brown
Golden State Warriors @ Denver Nuggets
Vegas Total: 225.5
Vegas Spread: Den -4.5
Starting with the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic seems like an obvious option here. The Warriors will have all sorts of issues holding him down in the paint. He’s priced up but it’s hard to ignore Jokic in this one after coming off a 60 point fantasy performance last time out. Jamal Murray’s production has been hard to look at over the past few games, this is a really nice bounce-back spot for him against a Warriors team that seems uninterested in playing any sort of defense. Will Barton will continue to be a guy I have an interest in as long as Michael Porter is out as well as Gary Harris. Lastly, Monte Morris and Paul Millsap both make sense for GPPs here. From the Warriors, I don’t love the matchup but any time Steph Curry is under $10k I’m going to have an interest, the guy can pick up points in a hurry. He’s had two down games in a row so the blowup game is coming and I want to be on the right side of it when it does. Andrew Wiggins is price right about where he should be, he’s a fine GPP option. Draymond Green has back to back 30 point fantasy outings and is priced nicely. He’s not a big usage guy but will get you there in a lot of ways so I don’t hate him in this one. Lastly, Kelly Oubre and James Wiseman are fine GPP plays to round out the slate.
5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Steph Curry
4-star play: Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Will Barton, Monte Morris, Paul Millsap, Kelly Oubre, James Wiseman

Indiana Pacers @ Portland Trailblazers
Vegas Total: 229
Vegas Spread: Por -2.5
Starting with the Pacers, Domantas Sabonis continues to play well, I don’t see a reason not to play him here. The Blazers defense has been really bad all around, but particularly against big men. Myles Turner is in a similar spot, but we kind of know what we’re getting with him, if he gets hot from three he’ll have a solid night. We saw this last time out where he went for 55 DraftKings points. I don’t mind going right back to him in this one. Malcolm Brogdon finally came down a bit last game but with Oladipo now traded and Caris LeVert likely unavailable, I like going right back to Brogdon here with what should be an increased opportunity. TJ Warren will be out for a while, opening up usage for these other starters, here’s how they play out with him and Oladipo off the court this season:
- Domantas Sabonis – 29.5% usage rate; 1.4 fpm
- Malcolm Brogdon – 28.3% usage rate; 1.2 fpm
- Myles Turner – 17.4% usage rate; 1.34 fpm
- Justin Holiday – 15.5% usage rate; 0.87 fpm
All these guys are great options here, I don’t think there’s a bench guy that will come and start for him that would jump off the page to me. It will be a combination of Justin Holiday and Aaron Holiday. I much prefer Justin Holiday. From the Blazers, Damian Lillard had a massive game last night but this is a tougher matchup. That said, his price did come down and we know the minutes are there so he’s firmly in play. CJ McCollum has three straight 50 point fantasy nights and is just going to be a guy that’s going to be in play. I would’ve never imagined playing him at this price with a healthy Lillard but he’s producing. The DraftKings price on Jusuf Nurkic is absurd and is just plain wrong, he’s coming off a nice game last night and is an elite option here. Lastly, Robert Covington and Carmelo Anthony are fine to fill in GPP options.
5-star play: Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic
4-star play: Myles Turner, Justin Holiday, CJ McCollum
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Robert Covington, Carmelo Anthony, Gary Trent
NBA Lock of the Day: Christian Wood (DK – $7,700; FD – $8,100)
How much Wood can Wood chuck if Harden isn’t there to chuck? Lol, going back to Christian Wood in this spot tonight! With James Harden now traded, John Wall out, and Eric Gordon questionable. Wood should be able to run this offense and shoot as many times as he wants to tonight. The Research Station below has him projected for 45.06 DraftKings points which would put him at 5.85x his DraftKings price tag, I love getting to the Woodshop here! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 5x tonight I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
