Dallas Mavericks @ Charlotte Hornets

Starting with the Mavericks, the big news here is that Kristaps Porzingis is likely to make his season debut. He will likely be on a minute restriction though, so I don’t think he’s worth his current price tag until we see consistent minutes from him. Luka Doncic had a “down” game if you can call 57 DraftKings points down. But they’re going to be without a couple of guys again here so he’ll be asked to pick up more of the workload. Willie Cauley-Stein has seen a bit of a role increase lately and has always been a pretty good per-minute producer, I like him at this price tag. Josh Richardson and Dorian Finney-Smith will be out here due to Covid protocols so that will open up some opportunity on the wing for guys like Tim Hardaway and Trey Burke. Burke dropped 40 DraftKings points in just 21 minutes of action last time out due to shooting 7-8 from three, I don’t expect that again but he’s a good low-end option. From the Hornets, Gordon Hayward had a nice bounce-back game last time out going for 43 DraftKings points. I like the matchup again here against the Mavericks. LaMelo Ball is putting on a show this season and it appears the Hornets got the real deal with this kid. His minutes are pretty secure now that he’s proven to be productive with them, I like him again here. Terry Rozier and Devonte’ Graham just aren’t guys I’ve been playing a whole lot this season. It’s a pretty loaded backcourt with these two guys and Ball, but you can get to them in GPPs. Lastly, the big men. Bismack Biyomobo is a fine option in his price range but PJ Washington has more upside in this matchup.
5-star play: Luka Doncic
4-star play: Tim Hardaway, Trey Burke, LaMelo Ball, Gordon Hayward
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Willie Cauley-Stein, Terry Rozier, Devonte’ Graham, Bismack Biyombo
Milwaukee Bucks @ Detroit Pistons
Vegas Total: 227
Vegas Spread: Mil -10.5
It feels like these two teams have played about eight times already this season, but we do have a bit of a sample to work with on them. We’ll start with the Bucks who come in as 10.5 point road favorites. Giannis Antetokounmpo returned last game to play 27 minutes in a blowout against the Magic. He’s averaging 32 minutes per game and 51.4 DraftKings points per game in two games against the Pistons this season, so he’s a guy you can go to here, just know the blowout risk. Khris Middleton has at least 40 DraftKings points in four straight games and has shown to be an elite mid-range scorer. Jrue Holiday’s usage has come down this season which was to be expected now that he’s on a team with Giannis and Middleton, but he’s still producing nicely. He had a down game last time out but is a guy that can get you there in a lot of ways so I don’t hate him for GPPs. Lastly Brook Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo make sense for GPPs, DiVincenzo looks like the real deal but has been volatile as well. Lopez’s minutes have somewhat solidified from earlier in the season and is priced nicely in a good matchp. You can make a case for Bobby Portis who is going to see backup center minutes along with a lot of usage in that second unit, he’s also blowout proof which helps in this matchup. He’s averaging 31 DraftKings points against the Pistons this season. From the Pistons, Jerami Grant is having a hell of a season and has really proved me wrong. He has at least 40 DraftKings points in four straight and averaging 45 DraftKings points per game against the Bucks this season. Blake Griffin is a guy I like more in pace up spots like this one, but he’s been too volatile this season for me to want to go too heavy on. Derrick Rose commands all the usage while he’s on the court and can put up fantasy production in a hurry, he’s a nice GPP option in that price range. Lastly, Mason Plumlee makes sense in his price range as well, he’s been a nice per minute producer in his career.
5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jerami Grant
4-star play: Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Blake Griffin, Mason Plumlee
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo, Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose
Brooklyn Nets @ New York Knicks
Vegas Total: 218.5
Vegas Spread: Bkn -4.5
Starting with the Nets, it sounds like Kyrie Irving will be out again here as he competes with James Harden for the league’s drama league of the year award. Kyrie being out means more minutes and opportunity for guys like Kevin Durant and Caris LeVert in particular. LeVert has a 33.9% usage rate and 1.36 fantasy points per minute with Irving and Dinwiddie off the court while Durant is at 36.7% and 1.61 fantasy points per minute. Jarrett Allen has been playing well but I think he’s priced right about where he should be not leaving much meat on the bone for upside at this price tag. Lastly, Joe Harris is a guy I don’t hate getting to as a “last guy in” type of player for your roster. From the Knicks, the price tag on Julius Randle has actually come down and it’s a spot I like quite a bit against a Nets team that is playing next to zero defense. He also continues to play huge minutes as Tom Thibodeau usually runs his players dry. I don’t love the price on RJ Barrett, but I do like the matchup for him. He’s going to continue to play around 40 minutes per game and it’s hard for me to ignore a guy that’s going to be out there that much. Alec Burks is out again here so Elfrid Payton is in play and has triple-double upside every time he steps on the court. There are a few pieces in this game that make my DraftKings Core 4 article, go check that out with the link below!
-> DRAFTKINGS CORE 4 <-
5-star play: Kevin Durant, Julius Randle
4-star play: Caris LeVert, Jarrett Allen, RJ Barrett, Elfrid Payton

Memphis Grizzlies @ Minnesota Timberwolves
Vegas Total: 219.5

Starting with the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas returned last game but wasn’t all that impressive, I do like the matchup here, however. Karl-Anthony Towns on defense never really worries me. We know the ceiling that Valanciunas can provide, he just hasn’t done it yet this season. Kyle Anderson is priced for the production he had earlier this season, he’s been consistently around 25 points before his 31 point outing last time out, so he’s not really in play for me right now. Dillon Brooks is a solid option as well with Ja Morant continued to be out, I like the matchup for him in this one but is a bit overpriced in my eyes. Brandon Clarke came down to Earth last game, I don’t hate the matchup but I think he’s priced too high for his median production. Tyus Jones and De’Anthony Melton are the point guards I want in this backcourt right now depending on what price range you fall into. Jones is your spend up option while Melton should get the minutes to provide you some value in that price range. From the Timberwolves, it sounds like Karl-Anthony Towns will play in this one. He’s been excellent this season and a matchup with the Grizzlies isn’t enough to keep me off him here. At under $10k I will surely have an interest in him. D’Angelo Russell has been hit or miss lately, but it’s a spot you can get to in tournaments. The same can be said for Malik Beasley but the minutes are there for him which is intriguing. Lastly, Ricky Rubio and Anthony Edwards are fine secondary GPP options as well.
5-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns
4-star play: Dillon Brooks, Tyus Jones, D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley
Deeper Value: De’Anthony Melton
GPP Sleeper: Brandon Clarke, Ricky Rubio, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell
Los Angeles Lakers @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: NA
Vegas Spread: NA
Starting with the Thunder, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a guy I’ve been getting to a lot lately. This isn’t really a bad matchup but also isn’t great. I would think one of LeBron or Davis sits on the second leg of a back-to-back against a bad team, so that should breakdown the paint a bit. Darius Bazley has seen his production a bit all over the place lately, I will like him much more if Davis ends up sitting. Outside of these two guys, it’s just George Hill and Al Horford that I’ll have a sprinkle of but that’s about it from the Thunder. From the Lakers, as I mentioned I do expect one, if not both, of LeBron James or Anthony Davis to sit here due to it being a pretty easy matchup and the second half of a back to back for this team. Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell would see a nice boost should they miss. I would like Schroder more if LeBron misses and I would like Harrell more if Davis misses, it’s just a situation we will have to monitor throughout the day. We also have a revenge game for Schroder, so that’s cool!
5-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James, Anthony Davis
4-star play: Darius Bazley, Al Horford, Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: George Hill, Al Horford, Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell

Atlanta Hawks @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total: 228
Vegas Spread: Pho -4.5
Starting with Atlanta, Trae Young has been all over the place in terms of performance. I don’t love the matchup with Chris Paul but this game should be fast enough where one on one defense shouldn’t keep you off him if you like him. Clint Capela is questionable for this one so we’ll have to keep an eye on that. If he plays I don’t mind him here, DeAndre Ayton’s defense isn’t something that really makes me nervous. John Collins is really volatile right now, he’s hard to trust in cash games but we know he has a massive ceiling which puts him firmly in play for GPPs. Bogdan Bogdanovic is going to miss some time here which will open up minutes for guys like Cam Reddish and Kevin Huerter. Lastly, De’Andre Hunter is underpriced for the production he is putting up, he’s not the safest play ever, but the game logs are really enticing at the very least. From the Suns, Devin Booker has back to back games of 40 DraftKings points, but we haven’t seen that ceiling that we expect out of him this season. I don’t really want to pay this price for him until we get that out of him. DeAndre Ayton has been pretty solid as of late and this is a price point I do like on him. It’s a pretty good matchup for him especially with Capela questionable for the Hawks. Chris Paul doesn’t have a bad price tag and is someone I think you can get to as a secondary option here. Lastly, Mikal Bridges is viable in all formats if you need a guy in that price range given how tough forward can be on a daily basis.
5-star play: Trae Young
4-star play: Clint Capela, John Collins, De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish, DeAndre Ayton, Chris Paul
Deeper Value: Cam Johnson
GPP Sleeper: John Collins, Cam Reddish, Mikal Bridges, DeAndre Ayton, Devin Booker
New Orleans Pelicans @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 221
Vegas Spread: Lac -6.0
Starting with the Pelicans, Brandon Ingram now has four straight games with at least 40 DraftKings points. This is a tough matchup with the Clippers having Paul George and Kawhi Leonard able to stick on him, so he’s a GPP only guy for me. I do like the price tag on Zion Williamson, you can attack the Clippers in the frontcourt, so I don’t hate going with him in this price range. Lonzo Ball hasn’t been very good as of late, but the minutes are still there for him if you want to shoot your shot on him in tournaments. Lastly, Eric Bledsoe is similar to Lonzo in that he’s a fine GPP option, but he’s going to volatile this season due to all the usage demanded in this offense by guys like Zion, Ingram, Hart, and Lonzo. From the Clippers, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are both coming off 50 burgers last time out. This is a good matchup for both of them, the Pelicans are still figuring things out defensively. Serge Ibaka is priced about right here and has been pretty volatile as of late, so he’s a tournament only guy as well. Nic Batum still continues to get minutes even with the return of Marcus Morris. That said, Morris is still on a minutes restriction so I expect those do come up. Lastly, if you want a GPP dart, Lou Williams is your guy, but he’s been so inconsistent this season it’s tough to get much more than like 10% of him.
5-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George
4-star play: Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, Eric Bledsoe, Serge Ibaka, Nic Batum
Deeper Value: Marcus Morris
GPP Sleeper: Lonzo Ball, Eric Bledsoe, Lou Williams, Serge Ibaka
Portland Trailblazers @ Sacramento Kings
Vegas Total: 235.5
Vegas Spread: Sac -5.5
Starting with the Blazers, CJ McCollum continues to be the better producer between him in Damian Lillard which has been pretty shocking to start the season. It hurts paying this price tag for him but at some point, we need to look at the production and suck it up and pay the price tag. Damian Lillard has been held under 40 fantasy points in two straight after his 60 point outburst a few games ago. He scored 33.5 DraftKings points in this spot a few days ago, I do like the spot however so you can go right back to him here. Jusuf Nurkic is questionable here after leaving early last game, if he’s forced to miss Enes Kanter would become an awesome play at his price point. Robert Covington and Derrick Jones Jr. are GPP guys who have been really volatile this season. Lastly, Carmelo Anthony has seen his minutes come down a bit but he’s still producing pretty good, I don’t HATE him for GPPs. From the Kings, this price tag on De’Aaron Fox is really nice. The matchup is great against one of the worst defenses in the league as well. The minutes restriction appears to be gone as he played 38 minutes last game, I love this spot for him. Harrison Barnes is coming off a big 45 point fantasy outing last time out, you can get back to him here as well. Buddy Hield is always in play for GPPs due to his ability to score from the field and is nice to see him getting good minutes this season. The trio of Richaun Holmes, Marvin Bagley, and Tyrese Haliburton is all viable for GPPs, they’ve been a bit volatile but have shown nice ceilings.
5-star play: Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, De’Aaron Fox
4-star play: Jusuf Nurkic, Robert Covington, Harrison Barnes, Buddy Hield
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Jones, Richaun Holmes, Marvin Bagley, Tyrese Haliburton, Buddy Hield
