Welcome back to the first Full Court Press Article of the season (or preseason, I should say). We’ve got a three-game slate on tap and the goal of these preseason breakdowns is going to simply be running through what we kind of already know going into the games. Preseason is always a different animal but with the right information and tools, there’s quite an edge, as you can see from the success members have already had this preseason below. The Domination Station along with our VIP chat is going to be your best friends when it comes to essential news needed for these preseason slates.

Charlotte Hornets @ Orlando Magic

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

We’ll tip things off with the Hornets who will be without Gordon Hayward again after he fractured his finger earlier this week. This game turned into a bit of a shootout earlier in the week, going for a total of 238 points. Cody Zeller was the only Hornets starter not to see at least 24 minutes while PJ Washington, Devonte’ Graham, and Terry Rozier all had 28 minutes. LaMelo Ball performed really well off the bench in his 26 minutes of playing time. Those are the four guys I would target here, but a case can be made for Miles Bridges as a secondary option as well. Meanwhile, Orlando is one of the better targets on the slate. Evan Fournier, Nikola Vucevic, and Markelle Fultz all saw at least 30 minutes last time out and I would expect the same here making them great options. Aaron Gordon makes sense as a GPP option while Dwayne Bacon is your value option due to the minutes he should see.

5-star play: Nikola Vucevic, Evan Fournier, Markelle Fultz

4-star play: Devonte’ Graham, PJ Washington, Terry Rozier

Deeper Value: Dwayne Bacon

GPP Sleeper: Aaron Gordon

Detroit Pistons @ Washington Wizards

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

We’ll start with Pistons here, they’re really not a fun team to roster right now. They’re going 15 players deep and Blake Griffin led all players with just 26 minutes last time out. I guess you can make a case for Derrick Rose who played 24 minutes off the bench, but really nobody played all that well with their minutes outside of him for DFS purposes. I will say, Josh Jackson looked really good off the bench, he played 24 minutes but he shot lights out, going 7-11 and 3-4 from three, so I’m not sure you can expect that again. It sounds like Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal, and Davis Bertans are closer to probable for this game than anything. This will be their first game this preseason so I wouldn’t expect a ton of minutes out of them, but you can make a case for Westbrook and Beal due to their ability to put up points in a hurry. My favorite player on the Wizards is probably Thomas Bryant who saw 29 minutes last time out and should see another little bump here. He’s a legit double-double threat every time he’s out there.

5-star play: Thomas Bryant

4-star play: Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Blake Griffin, Russell Westbrook, Bradley Beal

Atlanta Hawks @ Memphis Grizzlies

Vegas Total:

Vegas Spread:

Starting with the Hawks, Clint Capela and Cam Reddish are both probable here, so I would expect them to play here. This will probably be my favorite game on the slate, however. Both these teams are playing their starters pretty good minutes and are fast-paced teams. All of the starters on the Hawks saw at least 25 minutes and all played pretty well. Rajon Rondo is expected to miss this one, so there are another 20 ish minutes that can be distributed out. All these starters are in play for me. The Grizzlies starters aren’t seeing quite as many minutes but I do expect them to get a little bump here. Dillon Brooks, Ja Morant, and Jonas Valanciunas all had monster games last time out and are solid plays yet again here. As I mentioned, this will likely be the game I’m overweight on.

5-star play: Trae Young, Clint Capela, John Collins, Ja Morant, Jonas Calanciunas

4-star play: Dillon Brooks, Bogdan Bogdanovic

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: De’Andre Hunter, Cam Reddish, Kevin Huerter

NBA Lock of the Day: Clint Capela (DK – $5.7k; FD – $2.0k)

As I mentioned above, I want to be overweight on this Memphis/Atlanta game. Clint Capela is expected to play today and saw 25 minutes last time out. I would expect him to be around 30 minutes tonight and is a walking double-double, so he’s cash safe and has the upside in GPP’s as well. The Domination Station loves him as well with a projection in the 30’s for tonight, at his price that’s a damn good value, go get yourself some Clint Capela! Tweet me (@MadnessDFS) your lock predictions and if your player gets over 6.5x I’ll give you a shoutout on Twitter, let’s have some fun with this!
