What’s up guys it is your boy @LowOwnedWR here to break down the chalkiest plays at each position and see if anybody is worth the ownership you are paying for. Chalk whether you play it or not always needs to be looked at as it is something that always dictates what the cash line will be and build types for your lineups. We will look at factors such as the matchup, volume, pivots, and salary to see if someone is worthy of a smash or pass. Let’s get into it.

QBs:
Patrick Mahomes ($8900): My beef with Mahomes this week is not that he is a bad play, but that building around him is difficult with his main weapons being over $8000 each. There is not a lot of stand out value on this slate that is easily going to allow you to get a Chiefs build with the main guys in it. On top of that Mahomes is almost $9000 himself and even in GPPs salary value matters and you are just getting none from this stack. PASS
Aaron Rodgers ($9100): My problem with Mahomes is also the exact problem I have with Rodgers, only his two main stacking weapons are nearly over $9000 each and he himself is $9000. This Lions defense just allowed 30 points to the lowly Bears and Rodgers gets to play in a dome, so between Rodgers and Mahomes I am leaning towards the Rodgers side. At least with Rodgers, you can just roll Adams and him as that is where a majority of his TDs go, and they can be the players you pay up for in that said LU and you can try and find value elsewhere. SMASH
Russell Wilson ($9000): Gordon Ramsey would have voted Chef Russ off of Hell’s Kitchen the last few weeks there is no doubt about that. I do think this is a great rebound spot for Russ but my only issue is once the Seahawks have a lead, Pete is going to slow the game down and try to run on the Jets stout run defense which means fewer attempts for Russ. You are just solely relying on every early Seattle TD to be a passing TD while rostering him as they are going to play slow in the second half. PASS
RBs:
Austin Ekeler ($7500): Atlanta is great against pass-catching RBs and the run in general, so this is already a tough spot for Ekeler. He is also priced just about accordingly to where he should be so the value is not really here either. Ekeler is going to have to earn every yard and with how pass-heavy LAC is I am not looking to roster chalk that is going to have to scratch and claw its way to get there. PASS
David Montgomery ($6600): I am once again here to ask for your support in not playing Monty. I know the Texans are about the only team worse than the Lions against the run but the Bears defense over the last month has not remotely been that dominant force that we are used to seeing, and Watson has been playing lights out so the Bears could take a 2 possession deficit early and completely abandon the rushing attack which does not bode well for Monty whatsoever. You can also play Swift or Mike Davis who are around the same price and much lower owned. PASS

Derrick Henry ($9600): Am I allowed to just write “yes”? The Titans offense has been stellar and after a god-awful defensive performance last week I expect them to right the ship a little bit which is great for the script for Derrick Henry. I get why he is not over $10000 as the receiving upside from him is just not there but in my opinion, he should be almost $11000 this week with how good of a spot this is for him. SMASH
WRs:
Davante Adams ($9600): He literally gets targets on 1st and goal from the one, no WR has nearly as good of a floor as Adams, and he gets to play in a dome this week. I do not mind him naked or with Rodgers as he can catch 2 TDs and that could be all Rodgers has to throw. SMASH
Robby Anderson ($6500): I get that the Broncos secondary is banged up and they are just genuinely not good, but with the likes of Tyler Boyd and Corey Davis who are both in better spots in my opinion at around the same price and way cost you way less ownership, Anderson is just not worth it to me here. PASS
Curtis Samuel ($5900): Teddy is pretty cheap this week and with his WRs being chalky I am unsure why he is so low-owned. Teddy and Samuel are a great cheap mini-stack that can allow you to pay up for the studs on the slate who do not make you sacrifice your floor in doing so. Playing Samuel with Teddy also helps you become a lot more unqiue. MINI STACK SMASH
TEs:
Travis Kelce ($8200): Can he get there? Yes. If he doesn’t is your LU 100% dead? Basically. I know that he is 3rd in the league in receiving yards but TE is without a doubt the best position to pay down at so it is just so hard for me to justify playing one who is over $8000. PASS
TJ Hockenson ($6000): Literally all of the chalk TE’s are playing teams who are good at shutting down TEs. While I do not hate Hockenson for a RB in GB stacks, I would rather just play the likes of Swift or Marvin Jones who are way less owned and both have better floors to me. PASS
Darren Waller ($7100): The Colts LB core is so good it is going to be very difficult for Waller to try and replicate a remotely similar performance to last week. I also hate playing TEs at this price as meantioned. Just play 5% Hunter Henry who is way too cheap and honestly has the best matchup for a TE on the slate. PASS
Defenses are not shown on here as the field is pretty sharp with defense ownership so trying to pick against them is just something I do not deem to be necessary. Remember everyone, if all the good plays just hit every week, we would all have money printing machines, but I do not know about you guys but I do not have a money machine and I see chalk bust on a slate to slate basis like clockwork. Do not feel like you have to play anybody because you don’t, football is a volatile game and projections are not far enough along yet to really nail that down.
