Clipping Coupons for NFL Week 8
Another week is in the books and now we start this puzzle all over again for week 8. This is the best time of the year for me and there is a ton of money to be won in Daily Fantasy Football every single week. Somebody can win a million dollars each week on DraftKings and FanDuel and there are tons of other contests that can fit your personal DFS goals. However, if a player is a good play on one site, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are a good play on the other site. Salaries are everything in DFS and in this article I am going to point out the best deals each week on each site and help you clip some coupons if you are looking to bargain shop around the DFS industry. Here are some of the best deals this week at each offensive position:
Quarterbacks
Ben Roethlisberger on FanDuel $7,100. DraftKings has the NFL’s only undefeated QB priced as the 8th highest QB this week. FanDuel has him down as the 16th highest priced QB on the main slate. Big Ben hasn’t had a blow-up game yet this year and this is a tough matchup against the Ravens, but even with this discount he will still be low owned, and this could be a sneaky game to stack. Aside from the game where they blew the Browns out, Big Ben has scored 15 or more points in every game this year and he has 3 solid WR’s to throw to along with Conner who has 20 targets on the season.
Derek Carr on DraftKings $5,500. Carr is one of my top QBs on DraftKings this week. This game has a 53-point total, and the Raiders are underdogs. I want a QB who is in a shootout and throwing until the last play of the game and this could be that spot. We also have a lot of stacking options with Carr so even if he is the chalk at the position this week there are still ways that we can make our lineups contrarian with different game stacks. Carr is averaging a solid 21.1 DK points on the season and at this price, he is hard to ignore. FanDuel only has 10 QBs priced higher than Carr this week but on DraftKings, he is the 4th cheapest starter on the slate. That seems like a misprice to me and we currently have him as the 2nd highest Fpts/$ play on the slate over on the DFS ARMY Domination Station Optimizer.

Running Backs
Carlos Hyde on FanDuel $5,000. Revenge game! This will all come down to injury news though. Chris Carson and Carlos Hyde are both questionable so the only way this play will work is if Carson is out and Hyde is in. They also have Travis Homer injured as well so the only other RB available is Deejay Dallas. If all three guys are out and he is going to lead the show, then Dallas because a good value play himself. Hyde made my list though because this is a revenge game against the team that drafted him in the 2nd round, and we are getting a discount on him over at FanDuel compared to DraftKings. DK has Hyde priced as the 19th highest RB on the slate which sounds about right if he does end up getting the start. FD has him priced all the way down to 39 and that is too cheap for the role he could have in this offense. When Carson went out last week Hyde stepped up with 15 carries for 68 yards and a TD, and he also had 4 targets. If he is the guy this week then I want to clip this coupon over on FanDuel.

Le’Veon Bell on DraftKings $4,600. Revenge game! The Chiefs are 19.5 home favorites in this game, so it is the perfect script for Bell to get some extra revenge work against the team that released him weeks ago. Bell had 3 teams on his list of potential landing spots, and they were all the next three games against the Jets. This is a GPP only play but at this price, I am willing to take some chances on Bell and he could be getting the majority of touches in the second half when this game could be put away already. FanDuel has Bell priced as their 16th highest RB this week where DraftKings has 28 other RBs priced the same or higher than him. This is shaping up to be a cheap RB revenge week for me in GPPs and I hope Bell does get in the endzone against his former team.
Wide Receivers
Allen Robinson II on FanDuel $6,800. This is too cheap for Robinson. DraftKings has Robinson priced as the 6th highest WR on the slate and that is where he should be priced, in my opinion. FanDuel has him down at 13 this week though and this is a solid spot against the Saints. He did enter the concussion protocol though, so we have to keep an eye on the news, but if he plays, he is a solid option on FanDuel. Before last week he had at least 9 targets in every game this season and he is the clear best WR in this offense and getting by far the most opportunity as you can see from our Research Lab in the picture below. This is the lowest game total on the slate so I don’t think people will go here either, but Robinson might be the only Bear I have any interest in, and if I do click on his name I will just take the discount over on FanDuel.

Mike Williams on DraftKings $4,400. Williams is coming off a bad game where his QB scored over 41 DK points, and I am hoping people overlook him. He only had 1.4 DK points last week on 3 targets and he has had two other bust weeks on the season with 3.4 and 2.7 DK points. He is a boom/bust play, but we are getting a nice discount over on DraftKings this week plus we have some home/road splits really working in his favor. All 3 of his bust games this season have been in home games and he is averaging 2.5-points at home. However, on the road, Williams is averaging 20.9-points. That is a small sample size but at this price, it helps my interest and I think he is a solid leverage play away from the possible Allen chalk. FanDuel has Williams priced as the 22nd highest WR this week. DraftKings has 37 other guys priced the same or above him. I do want some Williams exposure this week over on DK with that discount but GPP only.
Tight Ends
Mike Gesicki on FanDuel $5,500. Gesicki put up a dud in his last game and now he has a new QB coming in. Maybe those two things keep his ownership down this week and with Tagovailoa coming in, maybe he relies on his TE’s a bit more. The possible low ownership, plus the discount on FanDuel are putting him in play for me this week. Gesicki is still priced up as the 6th highest TE over on DraftKings but on FanDuel we are getting him as the 12th highest priced guy, and I don’t mind clipping that coupon with a guy like him. This has been a high scoring offense and if that keeps up with Tagovailoa in there then I want exposure to this team each week. FanDuel is the site I would be clicking Gesicki though because I don’t want to pay up with that much risk so I would just be taking the discount on a guy like him.
Jonnu Smith on DraftKings $4,100. Smith at $4.1k seems too cheap for his talent. He is coming off his only two down weeks of the season so I thought he would be priced down, but he is $1,100 cheaper than he was in weeks 5 and 6. In his first 4 games, before he was injured, he averaged 18.425 DK points and had 5 touchdowns. FanDuel has him priced correctly as the 5th highest TE on the slate but we are getting a nice discount over on DraftKings with him priced all the way down as the 13th highest. That is a coupon I will be clipping this week and we have him as the 3rd highest Fpts/$ TE on the main slate over at DFS ARMY.
