Clipping Coupons for DFS NFL Week 1
Which DFS NFL site has the best deals? Is my QB better on Draftkings or Fanduel? The NFL season is here! And, it’s the best time of the year to win money! Daily fantasy sports are flooding with recreational players betting their hearts, not their heads. Somebody can win a million dollars each week on DraftKings and FanDuel, but smart money is thrown at contests of all shapes and sizes.
However, if a player is a good play on one site, it doesn’t necessarily mean they are a good play on the other site. Salaries are everything in DFS and in this article I am going to point out the best deals on each week on each site and help you clip some coupons if you are looking to bargain shop around the NFL DFS industry. Here are some of the best deals this week at each offensive position…
Quarterbacks
Teddy Bridgewater on FanDuel $6,800
On DraftKings, Bridgewater only has 12 QBs priced above him in week 1 making him a mid-tier QB on that site. FanDuel on the other hand has 18 other QBs priced above Bridgewater. Last year, Bridgewater started 5 games with the Saints and he averaged 17.12 FD points in those games. Now, he has the best RB in fantasy football behind him on the Panthers as well as three explosive WRs in DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel to throw to. The Panthers had a rotation of QBs and they put up decent numbers in this offense. If Bridgewater is going to be good this year you want to be on him before the field and FanDuel is the best place to get him this week. We also have Bridgewater as the 6th highest Fpts/$ play at QB on our Domination Station Optimizer over at DFS ARMY.

Jimmy Garoppolo on DraftKings $5,800.
This week FanDuel has Jimmy G priced as the 10th highest QB on the slate. On DraftKings, Jimmy G is priced as the 17th QB on the slate. He is coming off losing the Super Bowl, so I am sure him and the team are hungry to get a win to start the year and people probably have recency bias because of how little he threw in the playoffs last year. Not only is Jimmy G a decent coupon to cut this week but we also have him as the 2nd highest Fpts/$ play on the slate for DraftKings on our Domination Station Optimizer along with a perfect 100 DFS Army Grade.

Running Backs
Jonathan Taylor on FanDuel $5,400
There are only 15 other RBs priced higher than Taylor on DraftKings but on FanDuel we are 24 priced the same or above Taylor so that is a pretty nice coupon to cut that could really work out for us. This is a FD play I will be high on this week because I like the unknowns in week 1. The Colts have Mack and Taylor likely to split the load, but this should be one of the best O-line’s in the league and if they both got 15 or more carries it wouldn’t surprise me at all. We also have Taylor as a nice play on the DS this week with him coming in as the 4th highest Fpts/$ on the FD slate.
Mark Ingram on DraftKings $5,500
This one makes sense because typically Ingram is a better FanDuel play due to the full 1-pt PPR over on DK. Ingram does get some catches though, so he isn’t a complete dud in the passing game where he caught 27 of his 31 targets last year and 5 of those were for TDs. Plus, this Ravens team is favored by 8-points at home this week so that leads to a nice run script for Ingram in the 4th quarter. He is always a guy who could get multiple TDs and we are getting a nice discount on him on DraftKings where he is almost half the price of McCaffrey, so I don’t mind clicking his name over there at lower ownership.

Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen on FanDuel $6,800
Thielen (see pic below) is the clear lead guy in the passing game for the Vikings now with Diggs off the team and I would expect him to have a big target share every week. On DraftKings, there are only 6 NFL WRs priced above Thielen making him one of the top tier guys. That makes me not want exposure to him on that site because I would rather pay $100 more for Hopkins or even less for a number of different guys. If I get exposure to Thielen this week I am just going to clip the coupon and head over to FanDuel where he is the 14th highest priced WR. Not only is the price nice, but DFS ARMY also has him as the 2nd highest Fpts/$ play over on FanDuel this week behind the top priced guy in Thomas by 0.01 point.

Kenny Golladay on DraftKings $6,200
This is basically the opposite of Thielen where Golladay is the 7th highest priced WR on FanDuel this week button DraftKings he is priced as the 14th highest (per our revamped 2020 NFL Research Station). We also have him as a good play on the Domination Station over at DFS ARMY with him being the 5th highest Fpts/$ on the slate. Golladay is a big talented WR and I personally think he will have a great career. He is a guy I want stock in but if I am going to get exposure to him in my lineups for week 1, it will be on DraftKings.
Tight Ends
Jack Doyle on DraftKings $3,600
TE this week is pretty even across the two sites, so I didn’t notice any real steals on FanDuel this week, but we do have a core play for me on DraftKings. This is a bit risky with Doyle coming off a neck injury and not knowing how much work he will get. But, he is super cheap at $3,600 and Trey Burton is out leaving Doyle as the clear main guy at TE for the Colts. FanDuel has Doyle priced as the 10th highest TE on the slate and I think that makes sense. DraftKings has 19 other TEs priced the same or above Doyle this week and that includes backups. He is my favorite punt play on the entire slate at this price and who knows, maybe he will be Rivers favorite target and we never see this DFS NFL price on him again.
