⚾️ If you narrowed down your player pool to focus on our plays from the DFSArmy, your pitching lines were on 🔥 again this morning. Let’s keep it rolling! 👊
There is 🌧 rain 🌧 in the forecast! Rain and potential rainouts means that our edge just increased for the slate tomorrow. Why? Many people don’t follow the late weather cancellations/lineup substitutions like we do at the army. This happened last week and our members absolutely crushed the slate. Don’t miss out on the extra edge tomorrow by joining our community today. With KBO rain potential and Nascar revving up for its return, there is no better time than now! And by the way, a membership to the DFS Army covers you for ALL sports. Check out how our members did with UFC last night:
Pitchers and Picks for 5/15
Pitchers are sorted by DraftKings price. Each pitcher breakdown will include name, team, price (DK | FD respectively), matchup (opposing offense league rank), notes and format. We will keep things brief again today and focus only on my favorite high-upside plays for the slate. * indicates LHP.
Lee Jae-hak
Team: NC v SK
Price: $9,700 | $27
Matchup: BA (8th) | OPS (8th) | SO (7th) | BB (10th)
Notes: Lee got the win in his first start but did not have his best stuff – 5.1IP/6H/4ER/6K/2BB. We do have reason to believe his first start was more of an outlier. For starters, his 2019 season was excellent. Lee compiled 91 strikeouts in 121.1 innings and had an ERA of 3.75. Outside of a rough 2017, he’s had a very consistent 7+ seasons in the KBO. ZiPS projects him to finish in the top 15 for K/9 (7.3) in 2020 and faces one of the lowest ranked offenses in the league in just about every category. He is very expensive but solid.
Format: ALL
Dan Straily
Team: LOT v HAN
Price: $7,000 | $25
Matchup: BA (6th) | OPS (10th) | SO (6th) | BB (8th)
Notes: Straily was lights out in his second start last week – 7IP/3H/0ER/11K/0BB. He bounced around in the MLB until this season and more-than lived up to his ZiPS 2020 projection of finishing 8th in the league with a K/9 of 7.6. Giving up home runs has been a big weakness throughout his career but he gets to match up against a team with the lowest OPS (on base + slugging) of all 10 teams in the league. I still have my doubts about Dan Straily having sustained success in the KBO but his price (especially DK) and matchup are too good. Hanwha could be an intriguing contrarian stack if you are making a bunch of lineups. Straily will be very chalky, and although I have virtually no confidence in this Hanwha offense, Straily has been prone to blowups throughout his career.
Format: ALL
So Hyeong-jun
Team: KTW v SAM
Price: $6,000 | $21
Matchup: BA (10th) | OPS (9th) | SO (9th) | BB (2nd)
Notes: This play is more risky than the first two but hear me out. So made his first KBO appearance last week and pitched well enough to win the game – 5IP/5H/2ER/2K/1BB. He is a youngster (only 18) trying to prove himself and gets to face the worst offense in the league who are without their starting shortstop in Tyler Saladino (if he was the starter Lord have mercy on whoever had to back him up). At his price, So is one of the cheapest options on both sites. Keep in mind that his first start opponent was Doosan and their offense has been virtually unstoppable. I like him as a solid GPP option.
Format: GPP
Honorable Mentions
Jung Chan-heon ($6,200 | $20) – High strikeout upside (against a team that strikes out in bunches), Pitched well in his brief time last season, cheap and will be low owned. This is risky but I really do like how he matches up against KIW and they have not started well on offense this season (although they are very capable).
Han Hyun-hee ($7,400 | $25) – 2019 reliever turned starter. Projected by ZiPS to finish 13th overall in ERA (3.93) this season, flashed strikeout upside from the bullpen last year (7.6 K/9) and threw 100 pitches in a capable first start. He won’t save you salary like Jung or So but will be low-owned with solid upside potential.
