Full Court Press:
Dallas Mavericks @ Indiana Pacers
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread: Ind -4.0
The big news to kick off the slate is that Luke Doncic is out for the Mavs tonight which will open up a ton of minutes and usage. With Doncic off the court here is how the team shakes out in terms of usage and production:
- JJ Barea – 28.4% usage rate; 1.38 fantasy points per minute
- Kristaps Porzingis – 29.2% usage rate; 1.39 fantasy points per minute
- Tim Hardaway – 24.7% usage rate; 0.81 fantasy points per minute
- Jalen Brunson – 22.7% usage rate; 1.06 fantasy points per minute
- Delon Wright – 17.9% usage rate; 1.07 fantasy points per minute
Barea has been starting and playing about 22 minutes over the past two games but performing very well in those minutes. Porzingis is the other big benefactor, he’s probably too cheap with Doncic still out. Brunson, Wright, and Seth Curry will all see a boost as well until Doncic returns.
From the Pacers, Domantas Sabonis is extremely expensive, I really do not like the price tag on him. Malcolm Brogdon makes some sense here and has at least 33 DraftKings points in two straight games. Victor Oladipo has played 21 and 22 minutes in his two games since returning from injury. He hasn’t done a whole lot with those minutes, so I’ll wait until he really starts to take a bigger role in this offense. TJ Warren is out for this game which should solidify Jeremy Lamb’s minutes, it also gives Myles Turner a 6% usage bump which feels odd, but the sample size is there if you want to go with him at a cheap price tag.
5-star play: Kristaps Porzingis
4-star play: JJ Barea, Tim Hardaway, Delon Wright, Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, Myles Turner
Deeper Value: JJ Barea
GPP Sleeper: Domantas Sabonis, Jalen Brunson, Myles Turner, Jeremy Lamb
Golden State Warriors @ Washington Wizards
Vegas Total: 235
Vegas Spread: Was -5.0
Starting with the Warriors, I love this spot for D’Angelo Russell. He is currently questionable with a quad bruise but the Wizards are giving up points in bunches, he is one of my favorite GPP options on this slate. Draymond Green is a triple-double option every time he takes the court and has at least 46 DraftKings points in two of his last three games, I like him here as well. Damion Lee is a touch too expensive for me, but the matchup is there if you want to take a GPP shot. Marquese Chriss has taken a lot of those center minutes now that Cauley-Stein is off the team, he’s actually played well and has at least 20 fantasy points in six straight games. Alec Burks isn’t giving enough minutes for me to love either but he’s been pretty consistent. Lastly, Glenn Robinson has scored 30+ DraftKings points in three of his last four games and getting pretty solid minutes since Cauley-Stein being traded. From the Wizards, Bradley Beal is in amazing form and is playing huge minutes. He has at least 50 DraftKings points in six straight games, it would be tough to ignore him on this slate. Thomas Bryant has at least 33 DraftKings points in three straight games and should be able to handle this Warriors frontcourt, he’s a nice play. Davis Bertans has been pretty streaky as of late, he’s a GPP only guy simply because he needs to shoot well to really get there. Both Mo Wagner and Rui Hachimura aren’t on the injury report which will cut down on minutes for guys like Troy Brown and Ian Mahinmi, we will need to see how limited they are here, so fades for now. Lastly, Ish Smith is a fine last option for GPPs if you land on him.
5-star play: D’Angelo Russell, Bradley Beal
4-star play: Draymond Green, Damion Lee, Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson, Marquese Chriss, Thomas Bryant
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Ish Smith, Alec Burks
Orlando Magic @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: 205.0
Vegas Spread: Orl -4.5
This is one of my least favorite games on the slate, it will be very slow and likely one of the lower totals on the slate. That said, we will kick things off with the Magic. Nikola Vucevic scored 46 DraftKings points in this matchup earlier this season and should be able to handle this weak frontcourt again here. Evan Fournier is questionable here so keep an eye on his status coming into the game if he misses it will boost the value of Terrence Ross a good amount. Really the only other player I have interest in here is Aaron Gordon who has at least 33 DraftKings points in two of his last three games. From the Hornets, Devonte’ Graham really isn’t in great form and gets a pretty bad matchup, he’s mostly a fade for me. Terry Rozier is in slightly better form but still not someone I’m seeking out on this slate. Miles Bridges has back to back 40 point fantasy games, if you want to ride the hot streak here I won’t talk you off of him. Lastly, Cody Zeller is coming off his best game of the season going fro 48 DraftKings points, if you think he can build on that I don’t hate it here.
5-star play: Nikola Vucevic
4-star play: Terrence Ross, Aaron Gordon, Terry Rozier, Miles Bridges
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Terrence Ross, Devonte’ Graham, Cody Zeller
New York Knicks @ Cleveland Cavaliers
Vegas Total: 217
Vegas Spread: Cle -1.5
Starting with the Knicks, Julius Randle is questionable here but I will operate under the assumption that he is good to go. I really don’t love the price on him but he’s scored at least 42 DraftKings points in four of his last five games and gets a nice matchup against the Cavs. Marcus Morris is playing huge minutes and worth a look in GPP in case he gets hot from the field. Elfrid Payton continues to play well with RJ Barrett off the court, I like him a decent amount in this game. Lastly, Mitchell Robinson is a little too volatile for cash games but he has a very nice ceiling for GPPs. From the Cavs, Kevin Love has 39 fantasy points in his past two games, he should be able to do what he wants against the Knicks frontcourt. Collin Sexton has blossomed into a very consistent DFS producer and is averaging 31 fantasy points per game against the Cavs in three games this season. I don’t love the price on Darius Garland and he is pretty up and down. Larry Nance makes sense as the last guy in type of guy, but not someone that I’m prioritizing by any means. Lastly, Tristan Thompson has been a bit all over the place lately, but I guess I won’t blame you if you want to go with him here, the rebounds are there he just needs some points to get that double-double bonus on DraftKings.
5-star play: Elfrid Payton
4-star play: Julius Randle, Kevin Love, Marcus Morris, Collin Sexton
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Darius Garland, Tristan Thompson, Larry Nance
Philadelphia 76ers @ Miami Heat
Vegas Total: 213
Vegas Spread: Mia -3.0
Starting with the 76ers, Joel Embiid has crushed the Heat this season, averaging 53.9 DraftKings points per game in three games this season, I love him in this spot. Ben Simmons has been pretty solid as of late, that said I don’t necessarily love the spot as I would expect him to get Jimmy Butler on defense. Tobias Harris has been pretty up and down lately, I don’t love him but you could definitely do worse in this range. Al Horford is right there with Harris, not someone that I love but a guy that I won’t hate if I get some exposure to. Lastly, Shake Milton is getting great minutes with Josh Richardson still out, I don’t love the price tag on him, but it’s tough to argue with his production. From the Heat, Bam Adebayo has struggled in this spot this season averaging just 29.6 fantasy points per game, he’s a GPP guy at best with a decent ceiling. Jimmy Butler feels too expensive here, but does get a revenge game against his old squad, he’s a secondary GPP option. That about concludes my interest in this team outside of deep GPP guys like Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro, and Kendrick Nunn.
5-star play: Joel Embiid
4-star play: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Al Horford, Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Shake Milton, Goran Dragic, Tyler Herro, Kendrick Nunn
Phoenix Suns @ Brooklyn Nets
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Suns, Devin Booker continues to play well and has scored at least 48 fantasy points in four of his last five games and gets a great matchup here, he scored 44 fantasy points on the Nets earlier this season. Big men against the Nets right? DeAndre Ayton has at least 45 fantasy points in three of his last four games and the spot is ideal, love him here. Kelly Oubre makes a lot of sense as a GPP option as he can get hot in any game and is playing a ton of minutes right now. Lastly, Ricky Rubio missed yesterday’s game, so keep an eye on him here he’s not in the best form overall. From the Nets, Kyrie Irving is out here meaning a bunch of usage and shots have opened up for this team. Here’s how the Nets backcourt shakes out with Kyrie off the court this season;
- Spencer Dinwiddie – 33.1 % usage rate; 1.24 fantasy points per minute
- Caris LeVert – 30.6% usage rate; 1.01 fantasy points per minute
Both of these guys make for pretty nice options in a great matchup against the Suns. That said, I much prefer Dinwiddie as LeVert hast not played very well over his past week or so. Jarrett Allen is pretty volatile but he makes sense as a GPP option. You can say the same thing about Taurean Prince as well.
5-star play: Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, Spencer Dinwiddie
4-star play: Kelly Oubre, Jarrett Allen, Taurean Prince
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Caris LeVert, Taurean Prince, Jarrett Allen
Boston Celtics @ Atlanta Hawks
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Celtics, Kemba Walker is out here and Marcus Smart is questionable. I’ll proceed under the assumption that Smart is in, here is how the rest of the team grades out with Kemba off the court this season;
- Jayson Tatum – 32.8% usage rate, 1.26 fantasy points per minute
- Marcus Smart – 21.1% usage rate; 1.07 fantasy points per minute
- Jaylen Brown – 26.% usage rate; 1.04 fantasy points per minute
- Gordon Hayward – 22.1% usage rate; 0.98 fantasy points per minute
All four of these guys are in play given the awesome matchup with the Hawks who don’t play a lot of defense, with my favorites being Tatum and Brown. From the Hawks, Trae Young is questionable here but I’ll assume he is in. He’s proven that he is matchup proof and in should be in play against anyone, he makes for a nice GPP play. John Collins has 40+ fantasy points in three straight games, not my favorite spot for him but it’s tough to just ignore him. Lastly, Kevin Huerter is playing all the minutes he can handle right now, he’s a secondary option.
5-star play: Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Trae Young
4-star play: Marcus Smart, Gordon Hayward, John Collins, Kevin Huerter
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Enes Kanter, John Collins
Detroit Pistons @ Memphis Grizzlies
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Pistons, Andre Drummond has seen his production come down a tiny bit over the past few games but still put up 52.75 fantasy points last game. I like this spot as usual for Drummond. Derrick Rose is questionable here, if he plays I love the spot as the Grizzlies are one of the faster teams in the league which fits Rose’s play style. Reggie Jackson will fill in the starting lineup if rose needs to miss again, his minutes limit is gone and has played well since returning from injury, I like him here as well. From the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has scored at least 40 DraftKings points in two of his past four games and feels like he has taken a step to the next level over the past few weeks. He is too cheap here, plain and simple. Jaren Jackson will return here and as usual, is a GPP option due to his volatility. I love targeting Jonas Valanciunas in spots like this where the Grizzlies will need him to play big minutes in order to hang with Drummond, I love his upside in this spot. Lastly, Dillion Brooks has been very consistent as of late and in this spot, I’m willing to go right back to him. With Clarke and Jaren Jackson back I worry about the available minutes but it’s worth noting that Josh Jackson played 29 minutes last game.
5-star play: Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunass, Andre Drummond
4-star play: Dillion Brooks, Jaren Jackson, Reggie Jackson, Derrick Rose
Deeper Value: Josh Jackson
GPP Sleeper: Jaren Jackson, Dillion Brooks, Josh Jackson
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Sacramento Kings
Vegas Total: 228
Vegas Spread: Sac -2.0
Starting with the Kings, De’Aaron Fox has seen his production come down a bit over his past few games. That said, this is an elite matchup for him against a Wolves team that plays little defense. Marvin Bagley and Richaun Holmes are out again here which opens the door for Nemanja Bjelica to have a good amount of opportunity here. Also, keep an eye out for their starting lineup, if Dewayne Dedmond is in it, I like him as a mid-range option. Buddy Hield is playing great basketball as of late and this is the game environment I like targeting him in, fast-paced and little defense. Lastly, Bogdan Bogdanovic still feels like he’s priced too high for his production right now. From the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns has 50+ Draftkings points in five of his last six games, the only one he didn’t was against the Kings on the 27th. That said, I have no worry about going right back to him here and should have no issue doing what he wants against this banged up frontcourt, he’s an elite option. Andrew Wiggins is very similar to Buddy Hield on the other side of the ball but with a little more consistency. He scored 42 Draftkings points in this matchup earlier this year. Shabazz Napier is coming off a career game in which he dropped a triple-double on the Thunder, I like going right back to him even at an elevated cost. Lastly, Robert Covington is a fine player as a last piece guy, but nobody that I’m forcing in on this slate.
5-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Karl-Anthony Towns, Nemanja Bjelica
4-star play: Buddy Hield, Andrew Wiggins, Robert Covington, Shabazz Napier, Robert Covington
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Dewayne Dedmond, Bogdan Bogdanovic
San Antonio Spurs @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 227.5
Vegas Spread: Lac -10.0
Starting with the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan continues to play good basketball and has scored at least 50 fantasy points in two of his last three games. I don’t love the matchup as the Clippers are elite against wing guys, but I won’t talk you out of playing him if you want to. The one position the Clippers struggle with is the center position, I like LaMarcus Aldridge to take control here. Jakob Poeltl saw his minutes go back down last game with LMA back in the lineup but he still put up 32 fantasy points, I won’t rule him out as a deep GPP option. Lastly, Dejounte Murray has 32 fantasy points in back to back games and is a GPP option in a tough matchup against Patrick Beverley. From the Clippers, Paul George played 25 minutes last game and is getting his minutes back slowly, in a good matchup here I don’t hate going to him in hopes he gets near 30 minutes. Kawhi Leonard saw his production come back down now with George playing a bigger role in this offense, he’s still an elite option against his old squad here. Both Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams are GPP guys here now that George is getting more minutes, they feel a little too expensive.
5-star play: Kawhi Leonard
4-star play: Paul George, DeMar DeRozan, LaMarcus Aldridge
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Dejounte Murray, Paul George, Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams
