Full Court Press:
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Orlando Magic
Vegas Total: 236
Vegas Spread: Orl -7.5
Starting with the Wolves, D’Angelo Russell is in pretty good form as of late and will have a big usage rate going forward while Karl-Anthony Towns is sidelined. He has at least 50 fantasy points in two of his last four and scored 53.5 fantasy points against Orlando earlier this season, it’s not the greatest matchup in terms of pace, but it still has a huge 236 total. Malik Beasley continues to play well in big minutes, but the price is getting to the point where he’s more of a secondary play. Naz Reid will likely continue to start for this team with Towns out, although not exactly producing great. I actually prefer James Johnson over Reid as he’s the better producer on a per-minute basis, although he will likely continue to come off the bench. From the Magic, this is a spot where I will like Nikola Vucevic. I’m going to keep targeting big men against this Wolves team as they really have zero size upfront. He has at least 52 fantasy points in two of his last four games. Aaron Gordon is playing great basketball as well and has scored at least 53 fantasy points in three of his last four games, a great option in a great matchup. Markelle Fultz is priced right about where he should be, I don’t see myself getting a whole lot of him on a big 10 game slate. Lastly, Evan Fournier makes for a nice secondary option and is in better form as of late.
5-star play: D’Angelo Russell, Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon
4-star play: Malik Beasley, James Johnson, Evan Fournier
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Naz Reid, James Johnson, Markelle Fultz
Charlotte Hornets @ Toronto Raptors
Vegas Total: 215
Vegas Spread: Tor -13.5
Starting with the Hornets, Devonte’ Graham is in pretty bad form and doesn’t get a very good matchup here, he won’t make a whole lot of my lineups. Terry Rozier finally had a bounce-back game last time out, but again this is not a game that I will not have a lot of exposure to, he’s a deep GPP play at best. Malik Monk has been suspended indefinitely so those minutes will likely be picked up mostly by Cody Martin, who is a decent value option, although a terrible matchup. Lastly, Miles Bridges makes for a decent secondary option as he has been one of the more consistent pieces on this team since before the all-star break. From the Raptors, they will be pretty quick to get through just like the Hornets, I really don’t like a whole lot from this game. Pascal Siakam is priced right where he should be, he scored 43 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, he’s a decent secondary option. Kyle Lowry is playing all the minutes he can handle right now and scored 37 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, that said, I really don’t like the price tag on him. Fred VanVleet is coming off back-to-back floor games, I want to see it again before I go back to him in a fairly neutral matchup. He did score 38 fantasy points in this spot earlier this season. Lastly, keep an eye on Serge Ibaka here, he’s currently questionable and would open up some frontcourt minutes with Marc Gasol already out.
5-star play: None
4-star play: Pascal Siakam, Kyle Lowry, Miles Bridges, Devonte’ Graham
Deeper Value: Cody Martin
GPP Sleeper: Terry Rozier, Cody Martin, Serge Ibaka, Fred VanVleet
Brooklyn Nets @ Atlanta Hawks
Vegas Total: 233.5
Vegas Spread: Bkn -2.0
Starting with the Nets, Kyrie is out for the season meaning Caris LeVert and Spencer Dinwiddie will run the show, both in the backcourt and in this offense. Dinwiddie is averaging 39.8 DraftKings points in three games against the Hawks this season. He’s a very solid play here as he has a 31.8% usage rate and 1.22 fantasy points per minute with Kyrie out this season. LeVert has actually passed Dinwiddie in terms of pricing and it seems like he may be the more productive option going forward as he is coming off a 60 point fantasy game last time out. He has a 31% usage rate and 1.14 fantasy points per minute, that said, I prefer Dinwiddie for cash and LeVert for GPP due to volatility, but both are great options in a fast-paced game. That pretty much concludes my interest in this team outside of GPP darts on Joe Harris and Taurean Prince. From the Hawks, Trae Young is currently questionable and is big news that we will have to keep an eye out for on. He’s averaging 63.9 DraftKings points per game against the Nets in two matchups this year, this is a great matchup for him and an elite option if he ends up giving it a go. John Collins has flashed his huge ceiling as of late, and attacking big men against the Nets is something I will continue to do, I would expect his rebound equity to stay increased while Clint Capela is still sidelined. Kevin Huerter is playing all the minutes he can handle right now and makes for a great play in all formats although his price is starting to get up there.
5-star play: Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Trae Young
4-star play: John Collins, Kevin Huerter
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Taurean Prince, Joe Harris
Dallas Mavericks @ Miami Heat
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Mavericks, Luka Doncic is questionable here and another huge name that we will need to keep an eye on going into lock. He has at least 60 fantasy points in three of his last four games, but that said, Jimmy Butler plays elite defense and will do what he can to contain Doncic. He’s more of a secondary play at this price tag, an elite GPP option gives his ceiling, however. I’m really not big on the rest of this team unless Doncic sits, Porzingis sees his usage go way down with Doncic on the court, although he has scored 56+ DraftKings points in three of his last four games and scored 51 in this spot earlier this season. Tim Hardaway is more of a GPP option due to his volatility and since most of the backcourt usage will funnel to Doncic. From the Heat, Bam Adebayo is a great option against a pretty week frontcourt. He scored 58.8 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and has flashed huge upsides as of late. Jimmy Butler has been very solid as of late but price about where he should be, he scored 44 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and is more of a secondary play. Guys like Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn, and Jae Crowder are secondary GPP plays with both Butler and Adebayo active.
5-star play: Bam Adebayo, Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis (If Luka is out)
4-star play: Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn, Kristaps Porzingis (if Luka is in), Jimmy Butler
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Goran Dragic, Kendrick Nunn, Tim Hardaway Jr., Jae Crowder, Maxi Kleber
Oklahoma City Thunder @ Milwaukee Bucks
Vegas Total: 229
Vegas Spread: Mil -10.0
Starting with the Thunder, Chris Paul doesn’t get the greatest matchup here as Eric Bledsoe is one of the better on-ball guard defenders in basketball. I also don’t love the price on Paul, I don’t see myself getting a ton of him on a big slate. Shai-Gilgeous Alexander is in pretty good form and scored 43.5 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, I love his upside in a huge pace up spot for the Thunder. Dennis Schroeder is another guy that I love targeting in pace up spots, he scored 45.5 DraftKings points in 29 minutes in this spot earlier this season. You kind of know what you’re going to get out of Danilo Gallinari on a nightly basis, that said, I don’t like the matchup with Giannis, he’s mostly a fade for me. Lastly, Steven Adams makes sense as a cash game big man, he has at least 40 DraftKings points in three of his last four games. From the Bucks, it seems like they are getting Giannis Antetokounmpo more in playoff mode as of late. He has played at least 30 minutes in eight of his last ten games, most of which are blowouts. If he’s going to get that kind of run on a nightly basis, he becomes an elite play every night. Look for his minutes to be more steady going forward until we get to those last few weeks before the playoffs begin. Khris Middleton is such an underrated piece of this team, he is so consistent from a real basketball perspective but just seems to be priced right where he should be. He makes sense as a secondary GPP option. Eric Bledsoe scored 44.3 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, I don’t hate chasing that game in GPPs. Lastly, Brook Lopez is a GPP option at center as always, although I don’t love playing big men against Steven Adams.
5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander
4-star play: Dennis Schroeder, Steven Adams, Khris Middleton, Eric Bledsoe
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Brook Lopez, Chris Paul
Cleveland Cavaliers @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Cavaliers, Andre Drummond has been ruled out for this game so we can go back to the Cavs like we were before the Drummond trade. Kevin Love’s minutes have been all over the place as well, maybe we chalk this up to a new coach, but has at least 33 minutes in two straight. This is a spot I love for Kevin Love, a huge pace up spot and a team I think he should be able to score on with ease. I love him for GPPs. Collin Sexton scored 40.8 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, a fast-paced game for a point guard is DFS gold, I like him here as well. Tristan Thompson will likely get the start with Drummond out, he has been in good form as of late and makes sense as a secondary option. Lastly, Larry Nance has at least 32 DraftKings points in two straight games, he makes sense in GPPs as well. From the Pelicans, Jrue Holiday scored 57.5 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, I don’t love the price tag on him but I think you can make a case for him in all formats. Zion Williamson has at least 40 fantasy points in four of his last five games and has bee incredibly consistent as of late. I like him more for cash games as we really haven’t seen a huge ceiling out of him. Brandon Ingram is coming off a 50 burger his last time out, it’s hard to pinpoint who is going to have the dud on this team on a nightly basis because there is so much usage to go around on this team that one of these guys is going to struggle compared to their price tag and that guy could be Ingram. He has seen his usage dip with Zion in the lineup a good deal. Lastly, Lonzo Ball has been pretty average lately, he’s probably not a guy I will get a ton of on a ten-game slate.
5-star play: Kevin Love
4-star play: Collin Sexton, Tristan Thompson, Zion Williamson, Jrue Holiday, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Larry Nance, Lonzo Ball
Sacramento Kings @ Memphis Grizzlies
Vegas Total: 229
Vegas Spread: Mem -4.0
Starting with the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas makes sense as a secondary option here, he is averaging 30.1 DraftKings points in two games against the Kings this season. That said, he has proven a massive upside and is an elite GPP play if he gets cooking. Both Jaren Jackson and Brandon Clarke will be out again for this matchup. We saw Kyle Anderson get the start last game with these guys off the court and actually played pretty well in limited minutes. That said, I wouldn’t expect that to be the norm, he only saw 18 minutes and I won’t be playing Anderson if he’s got minutes issues. Ja Morant is in pretty bad form and has scored no more than 21 fantasy points in three of his last four games, that said, this is a nice bounce-back opportunity for him. From the Kings, it sounds like De’Aaron Fox will return here after missing last night’s game. This is a nice pace up spot for the Kings and he is averaging 44.6 DraftKings points per game in three games against the Grizzlies this season. Buddy Hield is probably too cheap here as he has at least 30 DraftKings points in three of his last five games and in a pace up spot he’s hard to ignore. Harry Giles continues to play well and has at least 30 DraftKings points in three straight games. I don’t trust Luke Walton with his minutes, but I’ll keep riding the hot hand in GPPs. Lastly, both Nemanja Bjelica and Harrison Barnes make sense as secondary options.
5-star play: None
4-star play: Ja Morant, Jonas Valanciunas, De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harry Giles
Deeper Value: De’Anthony Melton
GPP Sleeper: Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks, Nemanja Bjelica, Bogdan Bogdanovic
Washington Wizards @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: 230
Vegas Spread: Utah -10.5
Starting with the Wizards, this is a pretty tough spot for Bradley Beal as the Jazz are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA. That said, he’s in pretty great form and has at least 50 DraftKings points in three straight and at least 60 in two of those games. Rui Hachimura has back to back 22 point fantasy outings and you would just like to see more out of him. In a tough matchup, he’s mostly a fade for me. Davis Bertans is a fine GPP option if you think he can get hot from outside. Lastly, Ish Smith makes sense as a secondary option as well and has scored at least 27 fantasy points in two of his last three games but may finally be losing minutes to Shabazz Napier who is in great form. From the Jazz, Rudy Gobert is not in good form right now but should be able to bounce back here pretty nicely as the Jazz have struggled with opposing big men this season. Donovan Mitchell has scored at least 50 DraftKings points in back to back games, I don’t mind riding the hot hand here and going right back to him in a great matchup with the Wizards. Bojan Bogdanovic is not in good form at all as of late and I would like guys who are strictly scoring dependent to be in better rhythm than he is. Lastly, Mike Conley bounced back nicely last game and in a great matchup, I think you can go right back to him here after he was supposedly pulled from the starting lineup and then reinserted right back into it all before lock last time out.
5-star play: Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert
4-star play: Bradley Beal, Davis Bertans, Mike Conley
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Shabazz Napier, Davis Bertans, Ish Smith, Bojan Bogdanovic
Detroit Pistons @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Suns, DeAndre Ayton went out and dominated the Clippers last time out and gets a similarly great matchup here, he’s a great center option. Devin Booker struggled last game but that was to be expected against a tough Clippers team, he’s not in the best form but he’s always an elite GPP option due to his upside. Kelly Oubre is out for this game and possibly the season meaning more minutes for guys like Mikal Bridges, Dario Saric, and Cam Johnson, none of them are really outstanding plays here. they are more value punt options than anything else, I would expect this to be more of a usage spread than a big opportunity opened up for a bench guy. Lastly, Ricky Rubio has scored at least 45 DraftKings points in three straight games and finally feels like he’s back into form, I like going right back to him here. From the Pistons, Christian Wood is going to continue to play big minutes and put up great fantasy games. He feels too cheap here and a great cash game option. Derrick Rose is really the only other guy I have interest in on this team. He will demand a lot of usage when he’s in but I just think his minutes are too volatile for cash games.
5-star play: DeAndre Ayton
4-star play: Devin Booker, Ricky Rubio, Christian Wood, Derrick Rose
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Bruce Brown, Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Dario Saric
Denver Nuggets @ Los Angeles Clippers
Vegas Total: 219
Vegas Spread: Lac -5.5
This will likely be a better basketball game than a fantasy game to target but we will start with the Nuggets. I love targeting big men against this Clippers team which makes Nikola Jokic a great play. He scored 51.8 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, he’s tough not to like here. Jamal Murray draws a very tough matchup but has been very consistent as of late, he’s more of a GPP option for me. Lastly, both Paul Millsap and Will Barton have below-average matchups and are GPP options as well. From the Clippers, at the moment it looks like both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are going to play. When they both play I really don’t have a whole lot of interest in either of them since they cut into each other’s usage, but they are both very solid secondary options in a great matchup. The other thing that happens when they’re both active is I basically fully fade both Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell as they just don’t see the usage or shots to pay off their price tags. b
5-star play: Nikola Jokic
4-star play: Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Jamal Murray
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Paul Millsap, Will Barton, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrel, Ivica Zubac
