Welcome to the Core 4! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article throughout the day as news breaks. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!
Purpose of the Core 4: These four players are guys that I want to lock into my cash game lineups and if doing multi-entry, using the Domination Station lock them in or set high exposure percentages to them. These are players that I see as underpriced, in great matchups, in play because of injuries, increased usage, etc. I also need to mention that these plays are normally geared toward Draftkings pricing and scoring, I’m not a huge fan of NBA for Fanduel, so if you see my list has three small forwards or two centers, etc. it’s because of the multi-position eligibility on Draftkings. With that said, let’s jump right into it!

Joel Embiid (C) – $9,100
Joel Embiid and the Sixers will travel to Milwaukee to take on the Bucks in a game that has a 227 implied total. I love the price tag and upside with Embiid in this matchup, he is a guy that normally does what he wants and takes it upon himself to prove his worth to the Eastern Conference against the Bucks. He scored 55.8 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season and is averaging 72.25 DraftKings points per game in four games against the Bucks since 2018-2019. Below are his statistics in those four games;

33.8 points per game
14.5 rebounds per game
7.0 assists per game
3.6 blocks + steals per game
This matchup is just one that he excels in and I will be all over him at a very cheap price tag.
LaMarcus Aldridge (PF/C) – $6,500
The Spurs will travel to Portland to take on the Blazers in a game that features a slate high 232 implied total. I’ve been streaming centers against Hassan Whiteside as of late and let me tell you… IT IS WORKING. Below are the past 10 games that Hassan has allowed to opposing centers.
- Nikola Jokic – 69.75 DraftKings points – 7x
- Rudy Gobert – 30.25 DraftKings points – 3.6x
- Anthony Davis – 78.25 DraftKings points – 8.2x
- Clint Capela – 10.75 DraftKings points (only played 17 minutes)
- Domantas Sabonis – 66 DraftKings points – 7.6x
- Kristaps Porzingis – 34.75 DraftKings points – 4.3x
- Eric Pascall – 44.75 DraftKings points – 8.4x
- Nerlens Noel – 32.25 DraftKings points – 6.45x
- Clint Capela – 43.5 DraftKings points – 5.4x
- PJ Washington – 48.75 DraftKings points – 9.8x
So if we exclude the Capela game where he played just 17 minutes, opposing big men are averaging 6.8x their price tags over the past nine games against Whiteside. If that wasn’t enough, Aldridge is averaging 47.3 DraftKings points per game in two games against the Blazers this season, I love the price on him.

Coby White (PG/SG) – $3,800
The Bulls will host the Pelicans in a game that has a 231.5 implied game total. This is a pretty solid pace up spot for the Bulls at +4.2 and a game that I will try to get at least a few pieces from. Coby White, being one of those guys. With Kris Dunn off the cour this season he has a usage rate of 23.5% and has 0.77 fantasy points per minute. His minutes will be solidified here as well as the Bulls are really banged up. This is a spot where White can put up points in a hurry and his salary allows us to jam in the rest of this core which is a fairly expensive one, but the spots are too good to pass up. Give me some Coby White at what should be low ownership with very nice upside on a short slate.
Anthony Davis (PF/C) – $9,700
We round out the Core 4 with a stud of his own in Anthony Davis. You might be thinking this is a bit of an expensive core, well it is, but I actually think all the guys in this core are too cheap and if you plug them in it leaves you with a very manageable $5225 per player to round out the rest of your roster. The reasoning on Davis is really pretty simple tonight, the Rockets have close to nobody as big as him. They traded Clint Capela on Tuesday night and although I expect them to go get a guy before the deadline, he won’t be active for this game. This means Davis will have to deal with PJ Tucker at center for most of the game who is a good five inches shorter with a much shorter wingspan. Davis could be looking at a Barbara Walters (20/20) game here and much more. This is a pace up game for them and Davis just feels too cheap and is a guy I want to get a lot of to round out my core for tonight’s slate.
*** I want to make a quick caveat, the Core 4 is a first look core, things tend to change throughout the day in the NBA (especially on deadline day, so keep an eye out for a possible update if someone gets traded that frees up some value). I will update the core if I am able or if need be. At the very least I will make it known in the slack chat! ***
