Full Court Press:
Portland Trailblazers @ Washington Wizards
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread: Por -5.5
Starting with the Blazers, Damian Lillard has seen his price come up but has 50+ Draftkings points in three of his last four games and gets a matchup with a Wizards team that struggles to guard all positions. Talk about a price increase, who would’ve thought we’d see Hassan Whiteside at this price this season? He’s scored 40+ in eight of his last ten games and gets an elite matchup against an undersized Wizards team, the price is tough to play but he’s proven his ceiling this season. CJ McCollum has come down a bit after going bananas for a few games there, he makes sense as a nice secondary play. Lastly, I like Carmelo Anthony here in a game where he should be able to score at ease. From the Wizards, Bradley Beal is questionable but I’ll operate under the assumption that he’ll play. As long as he isn’t limited he’s a great play and will be in control of this offense with all their injuries. If he’s out we can go right back to Jordan McRae but he may be too expensive if Beal is in. Troy Brown is a bit too volatile for me to like in cash but makes for a nice GPP option. The same can be said for Isaiah Thomas, GPP only. Gary Payton’s minutes have come way down and is a fade until his minutes go back up.
5-star play: Damian Lillard, Hassan Whiteside, Bradley Beal
4-star play: CJ McCollum, Carmelo Anthony, Isaiah Thomas, Troy Brown
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Troy Brown, Isaiah Thomas
Miami Heat @ Orlando Magic
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Heat, Jimmy Butler has 40+ Draftkings points in three straight games but this game should be pretty slow, he’s more of a secondary play for me. Bam Adebayo has come down a bit ever since starting the world on fire last week, he’s right there with Butler as a secondary play with massive upside for GPPs. Goran Dragic is a little too volatile for me to like in cash games but makes sense for GPPs if you want to get a little exposure here. Lastly, Kendrick Nunn feels like a good value as well. From the Magic, Nikola Vucevic has 40+ Draftkings points in four straight games but gets a difficult matchup here, he’s more of a GPP play on this slate. With Jonathan Isaac out and Aaron Gordon questionable, there could be a lot of minutes open in this frontcourt for guys like Khem Birch and Mo Bamba, both make sense as value options. Evan Fournier always makes sense for cash games due to his consistency for me. Finally, DJ Augustin and Terrence Ross are good GPP plays to round out this team.
5-star play: None
4-star play: Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Nikola Vucevic
Deeper Value: Khem Birch, Mo Bamba
GPP Sleeper: Terrence Ross, DJ Augustin
Atlanta Hawks @ Boston Celtics
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread:
Starting with the Hawks, Trae Young will return here and shouldn’t be on a minute restriction. I’m willing to go right back to him here in GPPs, Kemba Walker isn’t exactly a lockdown defender. John Collins has proven massive upside already since returning from his suspension, I think he makes sense here again here as they will need his size down low with Jayson Tatum. Kevin Huerter’s price has come back down to a playable level as a secondary cash option. While Alex Len is an elite GPP option due to his upside, but way too volatile for cash games. From the Celtics, Kemba Walker will be a game-time decision here so we will need to keep an eye on him, but if he plays this is an elite matchup where he should be able to do whatever he wants. Jayson Tatum’s price has come up to a point where I don’t think I want to go there in cash, but he makes sense for Tiers and GPPs. Jaylen Brown should play here and much like the rest of this team is in a great spot, fire him up in all formats. Gordon Hayward has played 35 minutes in back to back games which is a good sign, he’s a solid option here as well. Enes Kanter is playing great basketball right now and doing it in short stints, if the Celtics eventually run him out for 25ish minutes he could absolutely destroy making him a GPP option.
5-star play: Trae Young, John Collins, Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown
4-star play: Jayson Tatum, Gordon Hayward, Kevin Huerter
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Alex Len
Philadelphia 76ers @ Houston Rockets
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread: Hou -4.5
Starting with the 76ers, Joel Embiid has been in elite form as of late and in a pace up spot against the Rockets, I tend to like him here. Ben Simmons continues to play massive minutes and makes sense as a cash game play here with a nice upside due to his ability to stuff the stat sheet. You kind of know what you’re going to get out of Tobias Harris, however, he’s been in relatively bad form, I don’t mind going back to him here hoping he’s at lower ownership than usual. Both Josh Richardson and Al Horford are nice secondary cash options in a nice spot against the Rockets. From Houston, James Harden feels too cheap here and has at least 50 Draftkings points in ten straight games, it’s tough to ignore that type of consistency when it comes with the upside that he has. Russell Westbrook has also been very consistent, he hasn’t flashed quite the same upside as Harden, but I still like him here. Clint Capela will have a battle down low with Joel Embiid, but Embiid’s defense doesn’t necessarily scare me, you can target Capela here in this spot. Finally, Danuel House and PJ Tucker make for solid value options.
5-star play: Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, James Harden, Russell Westbrook
4-star play: Clint Capela, Tobias Harris, Al Horford, Josh Richardson
Deeper Value: PJ Tucker, Danuel House
GPP Sleeper: Tobias Harris
New York Knicks @ Phoenix Suns
Vegas Total:
Vegas Spread: Pho -6.5
Starting with the Knicks, Julius Randle is in great form and is probably too cheap here. He has 45+ Draftkings points in four straight games and gets an elite matchup here. Elfrid Payton is questionable here, if he’s able to go it’s hard not to like this matchup for him, but the price is a bit high for me. Mitchell Robinson is a great play as well, he should be able to do what he wants down low here. Lastly, both Marcus Morris and RJ Barrett are elite GPP options in hopes that they get hot from the field. From the Suns, Devin Booker is in great form and has 44+ Draftkings points in four straight games, this is a great spot for him. DeAndre Ayton shouldn’t be on a minutes restriction here and gets a nice matchup against the Knicks, great play in all formats. Ricky Rubio is probable and has been a bit up and down as of late, I might hold him out for GPPs in this one until he proves some consistency going forward. Talk about great form, Kelly Oubre has 45+ Draftkings points in three straight games, if you think he can stay hot, keep riding him.
5-star play: Julius Randle, Devin Booker
4-star play: Elfrid Payton, Mitchell Robinson, Marcus Morris, RJ Barrett, DeAndre Ayton, Kelly Oubre, Ricky Rubio
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Elfrid Payton, RJ Barrett, Marcus Morris, Ricky Rubio
New Orleans Pelicans @ Los Angeles Lakers
Vegas Total: 223.5
Vegas Spread: Lal -10.5
Starting with the Pelicans, we get some revenge games here as Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, and Josh Hart return to the place that drafted them. Brandon Ingram has been the best option on this team this season, he scored 42 Draftkings points in this spot already this season and I like him again here. Jrue Holiday scored 60 in this spot which is more than enough to get himself attention from me, I like him a good amount here. Both Derrick Favors and Lonzo Ball are in great form here and make for great secondary options and elite GPP options in hopes they stay hot. JJ Redick is far too cheap here at $3.4k on Draftkings, if you need a value option he is one of my favorites on the slate. From the Lakers, we know it’s the LeBron James and Anthony Davis show. LeBron is in better form but AD has been pretty consistent, both are elite options here, but don’t play them in the same lineup. Outside of those two I really don’t have a lot of interest in this team, you can make a case for Kyle Kuzma if you like, but that’s about it.
5-star play: Brandon Ingram, LeBron James, Anthony Davis
4-star play: Derrick Favors, Lonzo Ball, Jrue Holiday, Kyle Kuzma, JJ Redick
Deeper Value: JJ Redick
GPP Sleeper: Kyle Kuzma, JJ Redick
