Full Court Press:

Dallas Mavericks @ Houston Rockets

Vegas Total: 235

Vegas Spread: Hou -9.5

The big news to kick off the slate is that Luke Doncic is out for the Mavs tonight which will open up a ton of minutes and usage in a great matchup against the Rockets. With Doncic off the court here is how the team shakes out in terms of usage and production:

  • JJ Barea – 28.9% usage rate; 1.37 fantasy points per minute
  • Kristaps Porzingis – 28.6% usage rate; 1.38 fantasy points per minute
  • Tim Hardaway – 25.2% usage rate; 0.83 fantasy points per minute
  • Jalen Brunson – 22.2% usage rate; 1.04 fantasy points per minute
  • Delon Wright – 17.9% usage rate; 1.10 fantasy points per minute

Tim Hardaway is also questionable here so if he ends up missing we can assume and upgrade for all the players above as well. Barea played 23 minutes on Tuesday night and makes a lot of sense as a value play here. Other than that, Porzingis will be one of the more popular plays on the slate but for good reason. Brunson, Wright, and Seth Curry will take over the guard minutes for Doncic.

From the Rockets, James Harden is really in pretty bad form considering where he was earlier this season. He scored 61.3 DraftKings points in this spot earlier this season, I don’t love him but I also won’t talk you off of playing him. Russell Westbrook is the guy in good form here, he has at least 60 DraftKings points in six of his last seven games. If you want to ride the hot hand I won’t talk you off of him either. Clint Capela dropped 58 DraftKings points on this team earlier this season and makes a lot of sense here as well. Lastly, Eric Gordon is too expensive now that Westbrook and Harden are both active.

5-star play: Kristaps Porzingis, Jalen Brunson, James Harden, Russell Westbrook

4-star play:  JJ Barea, Tim Hardaway, Delon Wright, Clint Capela

Deeper Value: JJ Barea, Jalen Brunson

GPP Sleeper: PJ Tucker, Danuel House

Toronto Raptors @ Detroit Pistons

Vegas Total: 223

Vegas Spread: Tor -4.5

Starting with the Raptors, Pascal Siakam has been a bit up and down since returning from injury, but in two matchups against the Pistons, this season is averaging 48.5 DraftKings points. They will need his size out there all game long, I like him here. Fred VanVleet continues to produce nice and playing all the minutes he can handle, I have no issues with him here either, the Pistons aren’t exactly lockdown on guard defense. Kyle Lowry is right there with VanVleet, he’s averaging 50.5 Draftkings points per game in two matchups with the Pistons this season, so there is obviously some sort of mismatch that he is attacking, he’s a nice play as well. Marc Gasol is currently questionable if he sits you can go right back to Serge Ibaka who would slide in and start at center. From the Pistons, Andre Drummond has eaten this team alive this year, averaging 53 DraftKings points per game in two matchups, if Gasol is out I love him even more. This is a great spot for him. Derrick Rose has become Mr.Consistency since getting more minutes from the coaching staff, I don’t love the matchup for him here but he’s a GPP play at the very least. Reggie Jackson has scored at least 30 DraftKings points in three of his four games since returning from injury. He’s still yet to hit that 30-minute mark, but I think it’s on the horizon and I love the price on him.

5-star play: Pascal Siakam, Andre Drummond

4-star play:  Kyle Lowry, Fred VanVleet, Serge Ibaka, Derrick Rose, Reggie Jackson

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Norman Powell

Chicago Bulls @ Brooklyn Nets

Vegas Total: 220.5

Vegas Spread: Bkn -5.5

Starting with the Bulls, Zach LaVine has cooled down a bit over his past few games but gets an incredible matchup here. He’s got a 16.2 And1 rating here and his price isn’t terrible, if you want to get there I won’t blame you he’s playing a ton of minutes. The rest of this team is really banged up and is loaded with questionable tags which makes it hard to breakdown in any productive matter. That said, we do know that Carter and Markkanen are still out meaning Thaddeus Young should see a good amount of big man run. We know that targeting big men against the Nets is and has been profitable all season long. Lastly, the price tag on Tomas Satoransky is nice as well, I don’t hate getting to him as a last guy in type of play. From the Nets, Kyrie Irving has been a bit of a letdown as of late, but in a great matchup against the Bulls, I like getting to him in GPPs at the very least. Jarrett Allen gets a matchup that he should be able to exploit as well, as mentioned the Bulls are very shorthanded and undersized in the frontcourt. I don’t love the price but he makes for a great GPP option. Lastly, Taurean Prince is pretty volatile but it’s hard to argue with his ceiling.

5-star play: Zach LaVine, Thaddeus Young, Kyrie Irving

4-star play: Jarrett Allen, Tomas Satoransky, Taurean Prince

Deeper Value: Luke Kornet

GPP Sleeper: Taurean Prince, Jarrett Allen, Luke Kornet

Memphis Grizzlies @ New Orleans Pelicans

Vegas Total: 241

Vegas Spread: NO -5.5

We have arrived, this game has a massive implied total and will be one of the fastest, if not the fastest, games on the slate. This is DFS gold. We will start with the Grizzlies, Ja Morant has scored at least 40 DraftKings points in two of his past three games and feels like he has taken a step to the next level over the past few weeks. He is too cheap here, plain and simple. Jaren Jackson is out due to a suspension that will open up minutes at the wing for this team. The Research Station likes Brandon Clarke to take over, as he is projected to play 31 minutes. If he plays that many minutes, in this spot, at this price tag, I will be all over him and you’ll want him in your lineup. Jonas Valanciunas can be volatile but he has an elite ceiling and against an undersized Pels frontcourt, I like him quite a bit but I do worry he gets ran off the court if both teams go small. Lastly, Dillion Brooks has been very consistent as of late and in this spot, I’m willing to go right back to him. From the Pels, Zion Williamson played 30 minutes last game and seems like his minute restriction may have been lifted. He’s got a 7% aDVP and an And1 rating of 10.0, I love the spot for him here. Zion entering the lineup has taken a toll on Brandon Ingram’s production and is probably overpriced right now. However, I’m willing to go back to him considering the great matchup. Jrue Holiday has quickly turned himself into the guy on this team with Zion returning, he’s coming off of a 57.5 DraftKings point outing last time out and makes sense here as well. Lonzo Ball is still seeing minutes into the 30s and makes for a fine GPP option in an incredibly fast game. Lastly, JJ Redick is a value guy that I like tonight, if this game goes small he will likely be out there to chuck some three’s, great GPP option.

5-star play: Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Zion Williamson

4-star play: Jonas Valanciunas, Dillion Brooks, Jrue Holiday, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, JJ Redick

Deeper Value: JJ Redick

GPP Sleeper: Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Jonas Valanciunas

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Phoenix Suns

Vegas Total: 223

Vegas Spread: Okc -0.5

Starting with the Thunder, the three guards are all priced right there with each other. They are all in play, but for different reasons. I would consider Chris Paul the safest for cash games while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is more of a hybrid play, as he has a decent floor and ceiling combination. Finally, Dennis Schroeder is the GPP option of the group due to his volatility but upside in a great matchup. Danilo Gallinari has been pretty consistent as of late as well, he has an And1 rating of 12.7 and makes sense here. Lastly, Steven Adam’s price has plummeted and gets a great matchup here, I like him as a value center options as his minutes are trending up. From the Suns, I expect a huge game from Devin Booker here. The All-Star teams were announced and two of the biggest snubs were Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. We saw Beal go nuts last night and I wouldn’t put it past Booker tonight, I love the spot for him as well, the only thing holding me back is that damn price tag. DeAndre Ayton has back to back games of 49 DraftKingspoints, Adams isn’t a great matchup for opposing bigs, but Ayton has proven that he can hold his own. The Thunder are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to defense against opposing forwards, so Kelly Oubre is mostly a fade for me. Lastly, Ricky Rubio scored 41.5 Draftkings points in this matchup earlier this season, he makes for a nice GPP option.

5-star play: Devin Booker

4-star play: Chris Paul, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Dennis Schroeder, Steven Adams, DeAndre Ayton, Ricky Rubio, Danilo Gallinari

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Steven Adams, Ricky Rubio, Danilo Gallinari, Dennis Schroeder

Denver Nuggets @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas Total: 224

Vegas Spread: Mil -9.5

Starting with the Nuggets, Nikola Jokic is in very good form and has scored 50+ DraftKings points in four of his last five games and really feels too cheap here in a pace up spot for the Nuggets. I absolutely love this spot for Jokic and his 14.6 And1 rating. Jerami Grant has come out of nowhere to score at least 33 Draftkings points in five of his last six games, it’s a tough matchup but again a GPP play at least. Will Barton has seen his production come down over the last week or so, however, the Bucks will give up big games to opposing shooting guards so I like him for GPPs. Lastly, they’re being very careful with Michael Porter Jr.’s minutes so I’ll leave him for tournaments as well, but he feels too cheap here. From the Bucks, Giannis Antetkounmpo is questionable here but with the Bucks favored by 9.5 it makes me think he’s in, so I will operate under that assumption. He’s very expensive in a tough matchup, but we know he’s matchup proof, he’s a great option in tiers and more of a GPP guy in classic. Khris Middleton is coming off a career game against the Wizards, but that was with Giannis out and his price is reflective of him still being out. I will likely fade Middleton here. Eric Bledsoe is also probably too expensive but I think you can make a case for him in GPPs as he still has a ceiling at that price tag. Lastly, I don’t hate Brook Lopez, they’ll need his size to handle Jokic and is worth a shot in case he gets hot.

5-star play: Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetkounmpo

4-star play: Michael Porter Jr, Will Barton, Eric Bledsoe, Brook Lopez, Jerami Grant

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Will Barton, Michael Porter, Eric Bledsoe, Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo

Portland Trailblazers @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 230

Vegas Spread: Lal -10.0

This game will be a tough one to watch as it is the first game back for LeBron and the Lakers since the passing of Kobe Bryant, it seems silly to talk about DFS in such an enormous game for the city of LA, but it should be celebrated as well. We will start with the Blazers, Damian Lillard is on another level right now, he has scored 70+ Draftkings points in four straight games, typing that just felt wrong, but it’s true. He’s hard to fade in this form, but there are other guys that I want to get in that price range on this slate and we will talk about one on the other side of the ball. This is a tough matchup for Hassan Whiteside but he is averaging 44 Draftkings points in two games in this matchup this season. Carmelo Anthony is currently away from the team for a personal reason which has not been disclosed. Keep an eye on his status as we get closer to lock. CJ McCollum is a guy I can never get right, I’ll label him a secondary play as Lillard has taken over the usage on this team. Lastly, Trevor Ariza has scored at least 33 DraftKings points in two of his last three games and is a nice GPP option. From the Lakers, all eyes will be on LeBron James tonight as he goes out there and pays tribute to his friend and competitor, Kobe Bryant. This is the type of narrative that I will buy into, not to mention that he is averaging 54 Draftkings points in two matchups with the Blazers this season. I’m expecting Anthony Davis to play second fiddle tonight, but is still worth a GPP look as a matchup with Whiteside is an elite one, Whiteside is a turnstile on defense. Those are really the only two guys I have interest in on this team, I suppose you can make a case for Dwight Howard in GPPs but that’s about it.

5-star play: Damian Lillard, LeBron James

4-star play: CJ McCollum, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside, Anthony Davis, Trevor Ariza

Deeper Value: None

GPP Sleeper: Anthony Davis, Carmelo Anthony, Hassan Whiteside
