Full Court Press:
Brooklyn Nets @ Minnesota Timberwolves
Vegas Total: 220
Vegas Spread: Bkn -3.0
Starting with the Nets, Spencer Dinwiddie continues to play consistent basketball with a decent ceiling as well. This is a good matchup for him and the price tag has come down, I like him quite a bit. Jarrett Allen scored 30.8 Draftkings points in this matchup earlier this season. He’s a nice play especially if Towns misses. Taurean Prince has scored 29 Draftkings points in two of his last three games, he’s a bit volatile but I like him for GPPs. The same can be said for Joe Harris. From the Wolves, Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable here so that’s a big piece of news we will need to watch for. I’ll assume he’s in for the sake of this article, he’s too cheap if he does play, however, I do worry about a lingering issue. Andrew Wiggins continues to play great basketball and finally playing consistent enough to where you can play him in all formats, that said, he did miss shootaround this morning so we’ll have to keep an eye on that as well. Gorgui Dieng will fill in if KAT misses and makes for an elite play if so. Both Robert Covington and Jeff Teague are GPP guys for me on this big slate.
5-star play: Karl-Anthony Towns, Gorgui Dieng (if KAT misses), Andrew Wiggins, Spencer Dinwiddie
4-star play: Robert Covington, Jeff Teague, Taurean Prince, Jarrett Allen
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Robert Covington, Jeff Teague, Taurean Prince
Miami Heat @ Washinton Wizards
Vegas Total: 228.0
Vegas Spread: Mia -8.5
Starting with the Heat, we have two of the most underpriced guys on the slate here in Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler. Both are elite plays against the Wizards who struggle guarding everyone. Bam scored 52 Draftkings points in their first meeting while Jimmy Butler scored 68 Draftkings points, they will be popular but for good reason. Goran Dragic is a solid GPP play while Kendrick Nunn is more of a GPP flyer. Lastly, you can make a case for Tyler Herro as a secondary cash play as well. From the Wizards, Bradley Beal is questionable at the moment but we will operate under the assumption that he is active here. He will likely get Jimmy Butler defense, but the role he plays in this offense right now is enough to override that. Gary Payton has scored 30+ Draftkings points in each game he’s played this season, he should get good minutes again here with all the injuries on this team. Troy Brown is playing big minutes as well and is more of a cash game guy, he’s flashed a ceiling game but otherwise has been held under 30 Draftkings points in eight of his last ten games. Isaiah Thomas makes some sense for GPPs as well in hopes he gets hot from a scoring perspective. Lastly, I’ll hop back on the Jordan McRae train if Beal is out of limited.
5-star play: Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Bradley Beal
4-star play: Goran Dragic, Gary Payton, Troy Brown
Deeper Value: Jordan McRae
GPP Sleeper: Gary Payton, Isaiah Thomas
Atlanta Hawks @ Orlando Magic
Vegas Total: 209
Vegas Spread: Orl -10.0
Starting with the Hawks, John Collins has scored 50+ Draftkings points in two of his last three games since returning from suspension. He should continue to get a ton of good looks and usage with Trae Young still out. Kevin Huerter’s price has come a good amount and is at a point where I’ll wait for a better spot. The rest of this team is really just GPP plays for me in a massive pace down spot. From the Magic, Nikola Vucevic is priced where I want to play him, he’s scored 44+ Draftkings points in three of his last four games. Aaron Gordon is out here, with him off the court here is who benefits most…
- Nikola Vucevic – 26.5% usage rate; 1.36 fpm
- Jonathan Isaac – 19% usage rate; 1.05 fpm
- Evan Fournier – 29.6% usage rate; 1.06 fpm
These three guys are all in play for me considering their price tags and an elite pace up spot against the Hawks.
5-star play: Nikola Vucevic, John Collins
4-star play: Jonathan Isaac, Evan Fournier
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Markelle Fultz, Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish
Detroit Pistons @ Utah Jazz
Vegas Total: 217.5
Vegas Spread: Utah -10.0
Starting with the Pistons, Andre Drummond is probable here and feels very underpriced, however, Rudy Gobert is one of the premier interior defenders in the league. It’s a tough matchup but I like the price tag. Blake Griffin is doubtful here, so Drummond should see an increase in usage and rebound percentage at the very least. With Blake, Kennard, and Morris off the court this season, Derrick Rose has a 36.3% usage rate and 1.5 fantasy points per minute. It’s a tough matchup but it’s tough not to like. You can make a case for Bruce Brown as well. From the Jazz, Donovan Mitchell has 40+ Draftkings points in seven of his last eight games and is showing some consistency, I like him here. Rudy Gobert continues to play 37-38 minutes per game and has a fun matchup with Andre Drummond here, I would prefer Drummond but you can make a case for Gobert. Both Joe Ingles and Bojan Bogdanovic are playing well with Mike Conley off the court, they make for nice secondary options.
5-star play: Andre Drummond, Donovan Mitchell
4-star play: Derrick Rose, Rudy Gobert, Joe Ingles, Bojan Bogdanovic
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Bruce Brown
Milwaukee Bucks @ Chicago Bulls
Vegas Total: 219
Vegas Spread: Mil -6.5
Starting with the Bucks, the line on this game being just 6.5 for the Bucks screams that Giannis Antetokounmpo will sit again, but he’s listed as questionable so we’ll keep an eye on it. The Bucks are also expected to get Eric Bledsoe back here, I would expect him to be somewhat limited, however. If Giannis plays he’s an elite play plain and simple, if he’s out we can go ahead and go right back to the Khris Middleton and Ersan Ilyasova well. Brook Lopez makes sense here as well, he’s been playing great basketball. From the Bulls, Lauri Markkanen is currently questionable so we will have to keep an eye on him, he would be a deep GPP guy for me if he does play. Zach LaVine is averaging 36.6 Draftkings points per game against this team on the season, I don’t hate him as a secondary option as the Bucks will give up the three-ball. Wendell Carter hasn’t flashed any sort of upside that warrants this price tag so he’s a fade for me. Lastly, Tomas Satoransky has scored 35+ Draftkings points in five straight games.
5-star play: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton (If Giannis is out), Ersan Ilyasova (If Giannis is out)
4-star play: Zach LaVine, Tomas Satoransky, Lauri Markkanen, Brook Lopez
Deeper Value: None
GPP Sleeper: Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter
Phoenix Suns @ Portland Trailblazers
Vegas Total: 231
Vegas Spread: Por- 4.5
Starting with the Suns, seeing Devin Booker is in great form over his last few games, he did see a price bump for this one making him a secondary option for me but elite for GPPs. Ricky Rubio bounced back from his dud game pretty nicely last time out. I like him here in this matchup in the highest implied total on the slate. Kelly Oubre is a GPP play only as his play has seemed to take a dip as of late and has really shown his volatility, that said he did just drop a 50 burger. DeAndre Ayton is questionable again but this frontcourt is a bit of a mess right now, I might be most likely to go with Frank Kaminsky simply because he’s the cheapest of the three if he is out. From the Blazers, Damian Lillard has two straight 50+ Draftkings outings, I like him again here quite a bit. Hassan Whiteside bounced back nicely from a terrible game two games ago. He’s way too cheap here and gets an elite matchup. CJ McCollum is a fine secondary option but I’m not forcing him in. Lastly, Carmelo Anthony is a deeper GPP play.
5-star play: Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, Hassan Whiteside
4-star play: Ricky Rubio, Kelly Oubre, CJ McCollum
Deeper Value: Frank Kaminsky
GPP Sleeper: Frank Kaminsky, Kelly Oubre
