Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In DFS we define the Free Square as a player to build your lineups around. Generally, this player represents the closest we can find to a sure thing for the slate.
This column is all about trying to identify the free square for a particular slate. Often times, this will be a low-cost player who is thrust into a starting role and sure to make or exceed value. The type of player that allows us to load up the rest of our lineup with high salary studs. Occasionally it will be a high priced stud in a great spot. Each slate we will take a look at three or four players which represent great value on the day’s slate of games and choose the one which best represents the top value and floor play to earn the title of the slates Free Square
My NBA Free Squares for Today 🇺🇸 November 13th 🇺🇸
Today we get a medium-sized 8 game Tuesday slate to breakdown. Currently, the highest implied team totals belong to the Blazers (113.5), the Kings (111.5) and the Lakers (112). While the three lowest totals belong to the Pacers (107.75), the Thunder (104.75) and the Bulls (109.5).

🇺🇸 Kyle Kuzma $4,100 / $5,000
With Anthony Davis listed as Doubtful tonight, we should expect Kyle Kuzma to get a lot more usage in this game. His minutes limit was recently lifted so he should be back to 100% in this game tonight against the Warriors. The Lakers have a 115 implied team total tonight, which is 4th highest on the slate and they really shouldn’t have too much trouble dealing with the Warriors in this one as they are 9.5 point home favorites. Kuzma is criminally priced on DK at only $4,100 and honestly, his $5,000 FD price is way too cheap as well. He’ll be a 7-8k player soon so take advantage of this cheap price tag while you can.
NOTE – Avery Bradley gets a bump he as well with Davis out of the lineup
NOTE 2 – With Davis out, you can look at Dwight Howard and Javale McGee as possible value plays. I would think they will see some extra run with Davis off the floor.
🇺🇸 Raptors
The Champs will be without Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka, and OG Anunoby tonight against the Blazers. This will force most of their secondary players into starting roles or at least much larger roles than usual tonight. Fred VanVleet will likely start at point guard, and he’s been rock solid this year. His price is up there at $7.1k on DK and $7.5k so he’s not really a value play, but, he’s been playing 35+ minutes in his last 5 games. With Lowry out that should continue tonight.
Pascal Siakam will get a boost as well with Ibaka out of the lineup. Siakam has started the year off hot and he’s playing 37 minutes or more in his last 4 games. He is not cheap, priced at $8.7k on DK and $9.7k on FD but his numbers have been rock solid all year long. His last 4 fantasy point outputs look like this 41 – 52.25 – 64.50 – 50.75. Not too bad
Chris Boucher and Ronde Hollis Jefferson are where we want to go to get some value tonight. With Ibaka and Anunoby out of the lineup these two should be able to step right into their roles. Boucher has played 22 and 24 minutes in his last 2 games and scored 27.5 and 29.5 fantasy points in those games. RHJ just played 28 minutes last game and scored 28.25 fantasy points. RHJ is in play on both sites, at only 4.5k on DK and 4.2k on FD. Boucher is 4.3k on DK but he is a little pricey on FD at 6.5k.

🇺🇸 Sixers
Joel Embid is listed as questionable tonight. If he sits out this game, the rest of the team is going to get a large usage increase tonight. Ben Simmons is who I am targeting first and on Draftkings his $6,800 price tag is criminally low tonight. He’s more appropriately priced on Fanduel at $8,400 but even that still feels too cheap in a game without Embid on the floor. Al Horford is also very cheap on DK tonight, only $5.9k and he will see an increase in usage with Embid off the floor. If you’re looking for value, you can try and squeeze some out of Mike Scott, Furkan Korkmaz or Kyle O’Quinn, but none of them feel very safe to me even with Embid out.
Jaren Jackson $4,800 / $7,000
I’m not sure what’s going on at Draftkings but there are some really awful pricing errors today. Jaren Jackson is only $4,800 despite playing 30 minutes in three straight games and having 2 great games in a row with 44 and 32 fantasy points. The matchup vs the Hornets should not scare you here and he should be a staple of your cash games tonight.
