Welcome to the Core 4! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article throughout the day as news breaks. But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!
Purpose of the Core 4: These four players are guys that I want to lock into my cash game lineups and if doing multi-entry, using the Domination Station lock them in or set high exposure percentages to them. These are players that I see as underpriced, in great matchups, in play because of injuries, increased usage, etc. I also need to mention that these plays are normally geared toward Draftkings pricing and scoring, I’m not a huge fan of NBA for Fanduel, so if you see my list has three small forwards or two centers, etc. it’s because of the multi-position eligibility on Draftkings. With that said, let’s jump right into it!
Before I get started, make sure to check out the latest new DFS website. SuperDraft is an innovative new DFS site that does not have salaries but instead uses a multiplier system and better yet, THEY HAVE LATE SWAP! Check out more on how it works below!

Andre Drummond (C) – $8,300
Andre Drummond and the Pistons will travel to Milwaukee to match up with the Milwaukee Bucks. The first thing that jumped out about Drummond was the price tag for me. He has 1.44 fantasy points per minute on the season, which if we give him 34 minutes (what he’s averaging on the season) puts him at 49 Draftkings points which would blow this price tag out of the water. The other thing is the matchup, the Bucks haven’t necessarily been dominating opposing centers. In fact if we look at the Research Station, they rank 20th in defense against them on the season. I’ll be all over the big man tonight.
Fred VanVleet (PG/SG) – $7,300
VanVleet and the Raptors will travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks tonight in a game that has a 224.5 implied total, which is currently a slate high. Targeting high total games is something that we want to focus on for DFS for obvious reasons so why don’t we dig in a little deeper to Fred VanVleet here. The big thing for me is the usage rate with Serge Ibaka and Kyle Lowry off the court, this season he is at 25.2% with 1.18 fantasy points per minute. That 1.18 number is a solid score for an average starter, but VanVleet is playing 37.4 minutes per game, which would put him at 44 Draftkings points here if we just run the averages. Then we take into account that the Hawks are 23rd in the league in defense against opposing point guards, I love me some FVV tonight.

RJ Barrett (PG/SG) – $5,700
I already hate myself for putting a Knicks player in the Core, but I just can’t shake the feeling I have on Barrett tonight. He will match up with the Spurs in a game with a 220 implied total and only a 2.5 point spread, so this one should be pretty competitive. Barrett has been a bit of a rollercoaster ride all season but has scored at least 27 Draftkings points in three straight games. Not only this but the Spurs are dreadful against opposing guards ranking 20th in defense against them on the season. Barrett has a 24.2% usage rate on the season and dropped 33 Draftkings points on the Spurs earlier this year. I think this price is just a tad too cheap here, I like Barrett quite a bit on this slate.
Anthony Davis (PF/C) – $10,000
I’m normally not a big fan of putting an obvious superstar in the Core, but I do like this spot quite a bit and it doesn’t hurt our salary all that much. If you start your lineup with these four guys it gives you $4675 per player to finish out the rest of the lineup and with the value, we already have with the Magic guys and some more to likely come, I’m going for it! The first thing with AD is the price tag is just far too cheap. This guy now has back to back 60+ Draftkings outings and has already dropped 73.5 Draftkings points on the Grizzlies earlier this season. At $10k he needs just 50 Draftkings points to get you to that 5x value that we want to at least try and get to with these studs. Using the Research Station we can also see that this is also a pretty noticeable pace up spot for the Lakers, as the Grizzlies are surprisingly playing at a pretty fast pace this season. Lastly, the Grizzlies rank dead last in defense against opposing PF/C on the season according to the Research Station. This spot is simply too good for me to pass up, so I’m going to run with it and hope for the best on the second leg of a back to back. Good luck everyone!
