Full Court Press:

Atlanta Hawks @ Miami Heat

Vegas Total: 223.5

Vegas Spread: Mia -8.0

This is likely going to be your highest implied total of the night, as both of these teams play at a relatively fast pace, and the Hawks will also look to speed this game up. Trae Young has been lights out so far this year, as he has a 38% usage rate and has scored almost 60 FPs in 2 of the first 3 games. He struggled a bit last night, which was to be expected against Simmons’ length but we get a nice bounce back spot for him here against the Heat. I have some interest in John Collins as well, as he is the clear cut #2 option on offense for this Hawks team, I just wonder if he will be on a minutes limit on the 2nd half of a B2B as the Hawks tend to be careful with him. That is definitely something to monitor today. For value, DeAndre Hunter is starting to settle in as he showed a little bit of upside last night scoring just over 25 FPs. DeAndre Bembry is another guy in play on a short slate, as he runs the point for their second unit and even gets some time with the starters as well. Bruno Fernando is a deep GPP sleeper threat that is a FPPM monster, and if Collins is on a minutes limit or Len gets into foul trouble against Bam he can really pay off big time. On the other side of the ball, Jimmy Butler returns to the Heat and really throws a wrench into some of the value we were getting. This takes Justise Winslow out of play for me here, as he is now priced up across the industry and will see a significant usage drop with Butler back. Kendrick Nunn is also out of play for me as he likely falls out of the starting 5 and his price is too high for me even though he should see some solid usage with the second unit. The guy I really do have interest in here is Bam Adebayo, as the addition of Butler doesn’t effect him as much as it does the guards here. He’ll still see his minutes and he’s averaging over a FPPM and he has some upside here going up against the less than stellar defense of Alex Len. He’s a bit underpriced here, especially on DraftKings.

5-star plays: Trae Young, Bam Adebayo

4-star plays: Jimmy Butler, John Collins

Deeper Value: DeAndre Hunter, DeAndre Bembry

GPP Sleeper: DeAndre Hunter, Bruno Fernando

Dallas Mavericks @ Denver Nuggets

Vegas Total: TBD

Vegas Spread: TBD

Luka Doncic is going to be my favorite play here, as he’s topped 50 FPs in each of the first 3 games this season, with two of those being over 60 FPs. Him and Kristaps Porzingis both see a ton of usage in this offense, and Porzingis saw the floor for 34 minutes last game and scored over 50 FPs. The Mavs do have a tight rotation as only 9 guys saw the floor in their last game so I expect both of these guys to play huge minutes again in what should be a tough, semi high scoring game. On the other side of the ball, the Nuggets are on the second half of a B2B and are going to need Nikola Jokic to step it up here, as he’s looked sluggish and passive so far this season. He has some upside in this matchup, but I just prefer Porzingis here as he has less competition for touches and comes at a nice discount. Jamal Murray makes for a solid play as well, especially as pivot off of Ja Morant who I expect to struggle against the Lakers. The Nuggets will need to lean on Murray in order to help keep this game competitive. There are also a few nice value plays here, as you can go back to Maxi Kleber if Dwight Powell sits again, although he went through a full practice yesterday. We also saw Delon Wright go nuclear the other day, which puts him firmly in play for GPPs, hell even Seth Curry saw some solid minutes off the bench and is near minimum. On the Nuggets side for value, you have Malik Beasley who has scored over 20 FPs in each of the last 2 games and is deadly from outside the arc. Gary Harris also was much more aggressive offensively last game, and he is a bit underpriced here as well.

5-star plays: Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis

4-star plays: Maxi Kleber (if Dwight Powell sits), Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic

Deeper Value: Jalen Brunson, Seth Curry, Malik Beasley, Garry Harris, Dwight Powell (if he plays)

GPP Sleeper: Seth Curry, Malik Beasley, Gary Harris, Delon Wright

Memphis Grizzlies @ Los Angeles Lakers

Vegas Total: 219.5

Vegas Spread: Lal: -12.0

The Grizzlies roll into L.A. as 12 point underdogs which isn’t a great start on an already small slate. We saw last game that Ja Morant is the real deal as he led the Grizzlies to an overtime win over the Nets but I expect him to have some difficulty in this game, as the Lakers are going to be one of the tougher defensive teams in the league this year. I expect him to see a good amount of Avery Bradley in this game who is a really tough defender. Still, he has that ability to go nuclear so he is in play for GPPs. While the Lakers are solid defensively, they’ve shown a weakness the past few games, and that is against Centers, as Cody Zeller decimated them just a few nights ago, as JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard aren’t exactly a defensive powerhouse. This puts Jonas Valanciunas in play for me, even on a minutes limit as he showed what he can do by scoring over 40 FPs last game against the Nets in only 20 minutes. Due to that minutes limit, Brandon Clarke is also absolutely in play here as his price hasn’t gone up too much, and he’ll see some solid minutes here either with JoVal on a minutes limit, or JJJ getting into foul trouble. Speaking of Jaren Jackson Jr. he is firmly in play here, as he flashed his upside in the first half of that game against the Nets, and then just disappeared. I think the Grizzlies will try to get him more shots in this game, just remember that he has a tough matchup against AD and he is prone to foul trouble so tread cautiously. Dillon Brooks is sadly even in play here, as he led all guards with 38 minutes played last game and his price is really low. On the other side of the ball, its your usual suspect here in Anthony Davis and LeBron James as you’ll want shares of both in GPPs as they can both take over a game. AD can break the slate at any time (either in a good way, or a heading to the locker room kind of way) so keep that in mind as well. For some value, Avery Bradley will likely see a few additional minutes here to try and keep Morant in check and Danny Green is in play and can be a nice bump in GPPs if his shot is falling. Dwight Howard also sees a ton of usage with the second unit, and is a double double machine, he’ll likely see the floor more than McGee here as well as he is the better defender of the two. Quinn Cook is also a deep GPP sleeper play if Rajon Rondo is out again as well as he is one of the leaders on their second unit.

5-star plays: Anthony Davis, LeBron James

4-star plays: Ja Morant, Brandon Clarke, Jonas Valanciunas, Jaren Jackson Jr.

Deeper Value: Avery Bradley, Danny Green, Dillon Brooks, Quinn Cook (if Rondo is out)

GPP Sleeper: Danny Green, Dwight Howard, Dillon Brooks, Quinn Cook (if Rondo is out)
