Full Court Press:
Toronto Raptors @ Boston Celtics
Vegas Total: 216
Vegas Spread: Bos -2.5
How Boston is favored to start this game is beyond me, as they looked terrible against the Sixers, and while the Raptors took a major hit losing Kawhi they still looked really good against a solid Pelicans team. It was quite clear that the offense up north is going to flow through Pascal Siakam, as he was dominant on both ends before fouling out late. He’s still too cheap for the production and I think we’ll see him over 10K at some point this year. My other favorite play here is Fred VanVleet, as he put up a huge game and looked to be the 2nd option on offense. Toronto looks like it will be running a tight rotation and all of those guys are in play for GPPs. On the Celtics side, I really only have interest in Kemba as he should bounce back from a subpar performance against the Sixers. Jaylen Brown looked pretty bad after getting paid, and I won’t be playing him until he proves something, but if you want to go for deep GPP MME shots, he and Marcus Smart are in play. I’m fading the C’s bigs as they should have a tough matchup against Gasol and Siakam, Tatum is worth a shot in GPPs though.
5-star plays: Pascal Siakam, Fred VanVleet
4-star plays: Kemba Walker, Kyle Lowry, Jayson Tatum
Deeper Value: Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Norman Powell
GPP Sleeper: Terrence Davis, Norman Powell
Minnesota Timberwolves @ Charlotte Hornets
Vegas Total: 228.5
Vegas Spread: Min -5.0
The Hornets simply don’t have anyone that can matchup with KAT here, and he should dominate from start to finish, it’s just whether or not you want to pay up that much for him. The Hornets looked pretty good in their first game, and I was really impressed with P.J. Washington, and he’s going to be a cash game staple at his price with the kind of production we got as he played a ton of minutes. I expect Rozier to bounce back a little here as well, as he got outplayed by Devonte Graham, and I don’t expect that to continue, especially in this game. Covington is also in play for me here, as he played 33 minutes last game and he can do it on both sides of the court, as he almost double doubled in his first game, I expect him to be a bit more involved with the offense moving forward. Charlotte has some good value plays here as well, as Bacon is still way too cheap if he continues to start. Another sleeper here is Jake Layman, as he was the projected 5th start for the Wolves and got bumped due to the matchup, he’s definitely in play tonight if he starts with how cheap he is.
5-star plays: Karl-Anthony Towns
4-star plays: P.J. Washington, Terry Rozier, Robert Covington
Deeper Value: P.J. Washington, Dwayne Bacon, Jake Layman (if he starts)
GPP Sleeper: Devonte Graham, Malik Monk, Jake Layman (if he starts)
New York Knicks @ Brooklyn Nets
Vegas Total: 225.5
Vegas Spread: Bkn: -9.0
Aside from Kyrie’s obviously fake tribute to being home, (die hard C’s fan here) he dominated in that game as it appears that he’ll be the guy for them this year, although he is a bit scoring dependent for a PG, so keep in mind that if his shot isn’t falling he does have a low floor. The Knicks don’t have anyone that can matchup with him here, as they don’t even know who their starting PG is yet. LeVert looks like a solid option, but his floor is low as well, so I’ll be sticking him as a GPP only play. I love Mitchell Robinson in this matchup if he takes the floor (keep an eye on Breaking News), so keep an eye out there. We saw against the Wolves that bigs against the Nets is still going to be a thing this year, and he has 50 FP potential if he suits up, especially on FD where blocks are worth 3 FPs. R.J. Barrett is still underpriced for his role, as he played 37 minutes last game out, and the Knicks front office will be pushing Fizdale to play him. Marcus Morris also looked really solid last game, as he played 39 minutes and provides some nice value here as well. For the Nets, Taurean Prince slides into Carroll’s role from last year, as he played 41 minutes last game and he doesn’t need to score to get FPs, but a few more points would really boost his ceiling, he makes for a solid cheap cash play here. Joe Harris is a little scoring dependent for me, but if he’s going to play as many minutes as he did last game, he’s absolutely in play here as well. Just remember that Fizdale is extremely unpredictable with his rotations, so most of these Knicks plays will be strictly GPP plays.
5-star plays: Kyrie Irving
4-star plays: Caris LeVert, R.J. Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Julius Randle
Deeper Value: Ivan Rabb (if Robinson is out), Marcus Morris, Taurean Prince, Joe Harris
GPP Sleeper: Ivan Rabb (if Robinson is out), Taurean Prince, Allonzo Trier
Chicago Bulls @ Memphis Grizzlies
Vegas Total: 223.5
Vegas Spread: Mem: -1.0
This Bulls team is going to be better than people expected, and Markkanen and LaVine showed why the other night. Markkanen absolutely went off, and it looks like he and LaVine both made some jumps forward this year, as LaVine would’ve had a bigger game if he hadn’t gotten into foul trouble early. Markkanen has massive upside as he has been a beast on the boards since late last year. He should be a double double machine here. I love Coby White for your GPPs as well, as he’ll likely be their sixth man as Satoransky isn’t the answer at PG. He played 27 minutes last game and he can put up fantasy points in a hurry. He should easily pay off as a value play here. On the Memphis side of the ball, Morant looked pretty solid and will likely be a star in this league within the next few years. He’s moderately priced and should see close to 30 minutes. JJJ is a decent play as well, as JoVal will likely be on a minutes limit again for the next few games, he’s a solid play if he can stay out of foul trouble. Brandon Clarke makes for another great value play again, as he’ll take some of JoVal’s minutes and he’ll also get in if Jackson gets into foul trouble. He should see at least 20 minutes and is low priced on both sites.
5-star plays: Zack LaVine, Lauri Markkanen
4-star plays: Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr.,
Deeper Value: Brandon Clarke, Coby White, Jae Crowder
GPP Sleeper: Brandon Clarke, Coby White

Dallas Mavericks @ New Orleans Pelicans
Vegas Total: 228
Vegas Spread: NO -2.5
The Mavs looked really good with the addition of Porzingis, as they handled he Wizards last game out. Luka Doncic is going to be your premier play here again as he saw almost 35 minutes which was by far the most on the team. Him and Porzingis make for a great combination and this Dallas team will be one to watch. However, they dominate the usage and the the only guy I’ll look to aside from them is Kleber as he is cheap and starting. On the other side of the ball, the Pelicans are a tougher team to predict, as Gentry played 12 guys significant minutes. However, it was quite clear that with Zion out, Brandon Ingram and Jrue Holiday will be the cornerstone of that offense and everyone else will chip in. Jrue had a bad shooting night and I expect him to bounce back in this one and be more involved in the offense. The biggest surprise was Josh Hart playing 28 minutes and going off as he showed some rebounding upside as well. It appears he’ll be their sixth man to start the year and is worth some consideration in GPPs for sure. For GPP dart throws, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Nicolo Melli both saw some decent run, and Kenrich Williams aka Kenny Hustle, is in play as well as he doesn’t need to score to rack up fantasy points. Lots to like in this game fantasy wise.
5-star play: Luka Doncic, Brandon Ingram, Jrue Holiday
4-star play: Kristaps Porzingis
Deeper Value: Maxi Kleber, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Nicolo Melli, Josh Hart, Kenrich Williams
GPP Sleeper: Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Nicolo Melli, Josh Hart, Kenrich Williams

Washington Wizards @ Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas Total: 219
Vegas Spread: Okc -8.0
Gonna keep this one short and sweet, as there really isn’t much to like here in this game. The Thunder are favored at home, but they play a boring style of basketball as they continue to find a suitor for CP3 and I’m fading him until he finds a landing spot unless it’s a smash spot. For the Thunder, the only guys I have interest in are SGA, as he should have a breakout year and Steven Adams as he draws a nice matchup against Thomas Bryant. He should have his way down low with him and stifle him defensively as well. On the Wizards side, Bradley Beal jumps out as a great play, as he will dominate usage on this Wizards team, and he had a sub par game by his standards against the Mavs but I expect to see an uptick in his minutes here. The Wizards do provide some nice value though, as Rui Hachimura, Ish Smith, and Isaac Bonga all provide nice value in the starting lineup, although Ish didn’t look great in their first game. He was actually outplayed by Jordan McRae, and McRae is a nice GPP dart throw in this game as well as he can fill it up fast.
5-star play: Bradley Beal
4-star play: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Steven Adams
Deeper Value: Ish Smith, Isaac Bonga, Jordan McRae
GPP Sleeper: Ish Smith, Rui Hachimura, Isaac Bonga
UPDATE: Jordan McRae is out, with IT2 being a GTD, Ish Smith is firmly in play if he also sits as the Wizards will be extremely thin at guard.
Phoenix Suns @ Denver Nuggets
Vegas Total: 221
Vegas Spread: Den -11.0
This one could get ugly quick, as we got word tonight that DeAndre Ayton will be suspended for 25 games for testing positive for a banned diuretic. However, it is a boost to Devin Booker as the offense will now flow solely through him. The loss of Ayton is a boost to both Aron Baynes and Frank Kaminsky, and I’ll have some interest in whichever one of them starts. Kelly Oubre Jr. also makes for a solid play as he is blowout proof and will play regardless of whether or not they get blown out (Vegas believes they will). On the other side of the ball, your premier plays are going to be Nikola Jokic as he should be fresh as he only played 24 minutes last game due to foul trouble. Jamal Murray is another solid play here, as he played 34 minutes and it looks like they’ll be leaning on him a bit more this year after paying him. The only issue is whether or not you want to pay up for Jokic knowing that Denver is favored by 11 before the Ayton news broke. If you think it stays close, he’s a viable GPP play.
5-star play: Devin Booker, Nikola Jokic
4-star play: Jamal Murray, Kelly Oubre Jr.
Deeper Value: Aron Baynes, Frank Kaminsky
GPP Sleeper: Aron Baynes, Frank Kaminsky, Ricky Rubio
Portland Trail Blazers @ Sacramento Kings
Vegas Total: 225
Vegas Spread: Por -2.5
I’m surprised this line opened up as low as it did, as the Kings looked miserable against the lowly Suns, getting blown out by 29 in their opener. Fox is in play for GPPs, but he is risky as he showed last game by getting into foul trouble. The issue we have here is were unsure of how the Kings rotation will shake out, as they played 13 guys in that blowout. The only other guy I’d really touch on this side of the ball is Richaun Holmes with Bagley on the shelf for awhile. For the Blazers, Damian Lillard is always a GPP play as he has the ability to take over games and impose his will on opposing teams. Hassan Whiteside showed some signs as life as well, and he’s in play for GPPs as well as he played close to 30 minutes and had 16 points and 19 rebounds, although those minutes could start to dwindle with how poor he played on defense. I don’t have much interest in McCollum at his price point, but I do like Collins if he’ll start and play over 30 minutes again. Bazemore also looks like a deep GPP play here, as he played the sixth man role and saw 25 minutes off the bench.
5-star play: Damian Lillard
4-star play: De’Aaron Fox, Hassan Whiteside
Deeper Value: Zach Collins, Kent Bazemore, Richaun Holmes
GPP Sleeper: Zach Collins, Kent Bazemore, Richaun Holmes
Utah Jazz @ Los Angeles Lakers
Vegas Total: 219
Vegas Spread: Lal -3.0
This is a decent hammer game, as a lot of people will go out of their way to roster AD and LeBron in what is a really tough matchup. Utah is going to be really good this year and they play really solid defense, so I think that this game will be lower scoring than people think. Anthony Davis gets a really tough matchup against Rudy Gobert, but he’s always in play with the ceiling he has. LeBron is going to be the top play here for me, as he presents a matchup problem for the Jazz, especially if Rondo is out again and he is running the point. Danny Green showed out in his first game with the Lakers, and single handedly cost me a few thousand dollars on opening night, but he is in play tonight if he is going to have this type of role in this offense until Kuzma comes back. On the other side of the ball, the Jazz have a tough matchup as well, as the Lakers will be really solid on defense as well which makes me believe this will be a lower scoring game. Rudy Gobert should be very active on both sides of the ball, as he’ll have his hands full with AD, but he is pricey on both sites. Mike Conley and Donovan Mitchell are also both in play here, but I’m not going out of my way to play them especially given the tough matchup.
5-star play: LeBron James
4-star play: Anthony Davis, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Mike Conley
Deeper Value: Bojan Bogdanovic, Avery Bradley, Danny Green
GPP Sleeper: Danny Green
