NFL DFS Preseason Week 2 Preview Winning Picks For Draftkings and Fanduel Fantasy Football

The best time in sports is here. Baseball is starting to wind down. From here, all that truly matters is the best, highest paying, most fish-loaded DFS sport in the industry…..NFL! Growing each and every season, contest are getting bigger and players are getting sharper (but there are still a ton of recreational fish). My name is Chris N and you can find me on twitter @cln2013_LIons, and I will have you covered for the entire preseason. What does that mean exactly? VIP members at DFS Army will be getting coaches notes for each and every slate, breakdowns for each game as well as something super spicy that will blow our members minds.

Preseason can be tough, but I will be here to guide our members each and every week for all the slates. First, I would like to say that a lot of DFS Army members had a lot of success in week 1 of the preseason. Thursday wasn’t the smashing success we thought we’d jump out to, but Friday and Saturday rebounded nicely for those that stuck it out.  If playing any DFS sport, you must commit.  You can’t have a bad week and say, “well that didnt work…I’m out.”  You will NEVER win any money that way.  DFS has its ups and downs, and you need to be able to ride them out to succeed long term.  (See screenshot below)

You are looking at one of our coach’s preseason NFL to date.  In the first photo, you see a heavy allocation to cash games to remove a lot of variance and safely battle players at a disadvantage.  You don’t need to play a lot of tournaments to scoop the dead money when the competition has a disadvantage to you.  Play safe, take the lower hanging fruit, and move on.  Be smart.

The next screenshot is his ROI for preseason NFL.  40% is a safe, smart grind…even with the “Thursday dip.”  The big score might come, and it might not.  But, by playing most of his money where the fish are swimming, the grind becomes nearly as safe as the EE bonds your grandma gave you for high school graduation.  Learn to exploit the fish smartly and improve your game!

Congratulations to each and every one of our members who had a great kickoff to the NFL season. The Saturday slate coaches notes had all of the optimal plays besides 1 player. They were also at the top of each position. So let us continue that fire onto week 2.

Where to Begin

Week 2 is going to be great, not only are we going to see the starters a bit more this week. We also have great sized slates for all of the contests Thursday-Sunday, with a showdown on Monday. The sizes are perfect, not only for MME (Mass Multi-Entry) but for play 1-10 lineups as well. We will begin to see a glimpse of coaching schemes this week as well as seeing more of the better players on the roster. Paying attention to camp notes is going to be very important, and will be something I talk about a bit later.

It is important to notice that the final practices before each team go out for their game is two days before game time. What this means for us is that we need to pay attention and see if we can find any bits of information on how the coaches plan on how long they are going to play each string of players. For example, some superstars like Aaron Rodgers may play 1-2 series at most, but then you could have guys like Tom Brady playing a whole half like he did last preseason week 2.

Guides To Success

We simply want to play the players who will be on the field for the longest amount of time. This will put you in the best position to succeed on this slate as well as any preseason slate. I will break this down extensively in coaches notes so that our members know exactly who to target and who to avoid each week.

Like always though, we want to make sure we are playing players who have the skill to perform. One other key thing to keep an eye on is training camp battles. These battles for potentially the last spot in that position is where a lot of money can be made. Coaches may tend to call more plays towards a certain situation because of this. This is to see if the players have what it takes to be on their 53 man roster. Teams will begin to implement their gameplan this week. This week, the overall play should be better from each team, not only will we see the starters play longer, but the young guys will have another game under their belt. This is going to be an important week for those 2nd and 3rd string players because it will help or hurt their cause of making the regular-season roster.

Finally, coaching tendencies. You can see below this paragraph, we have tracked the past several seasons to see how many players each team has used at each position. Along with how well they played, even including a color-coded system for members to easily identify where coaches have gone in the past. My favorite part about our research station is the 4-year rankings tab. This shows the combined average of how well teams have done in each part of the game, along with each position and how many players were used in those positions. This gives our members the massive edge that we have over the field when predicting usage and opportunity.

Thursday Week 2 Players To Keep In Mind

After you read these quick plays, learn the basics of what makes preseason different than regular season.  My NFL Preseason Primer covers the basics quickly!

Dwayne Haskins- Colt McCoy is unlikely to play again this week, and with Woodrum heading to the IR. The Redskins are left with Keenum and Haskins along with newly signed McClendon who should not play much if at all. So we can project to see Haskins out there for at least 1.5-half and possibly more.  Haskins had a lot of good moments last week completing 14 of 17 passes but also throwing 2 interceptions. He also added 17 yards rushing on 2 carries. With a game under his belt, we can expect him to play better this week and is worth a look on Thursday.

Brian Hill- Is making a case for the backup RB job. The starters should play for the Falcons this week, but it remains to be seen if Freeman suits up. Freeman generally does not play in the preseason, so that he can keep his body fresh. Which means Ito Smith who is losing track on the starting job, will most likely play with the 1st stringers for around 2-3 drives and possibly 1-2 more after that. Hill looked great last week and he should get another extended look this week, especially when there is no QB battle going on for the Falcons

Greg Dortch– Played well last week against the Giants. Well enough to move up to the 2nd unit this week in practice. This means he will likely play a lot more this week, including his regular return duties. He wasted no time when making the jump up to the 2nd string as he was already making a lot of great plays in practice this week. Dortch was a stud in college and is definitely someone to watch out for on Thursday.

Josh Perkins–  The starters should not play that long, if at all this week. With injuries to Goedert and Richard Rodgers, Perkins should play a lot in this game. He continues to flash in camp and will be a safety net for Kessler #RevengeGame and possibly Wentz (if he plays). He made a lot of great plays in practice this week and I am excited to see him come Thursday. TE is always hit or miss in the preseason, so any slight edge in this position is great to have.

More details, and more players will be featured in our coaching notes for each slate this weekend.  But, of course, we keep those plays locked up for our VIPs!  To become a VIP, we have a few options.  Simply start the process by visiting the link below…
