Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

The Domination Station has Russell Westbrook projected for the most points in this tier, and it’s hard to argue with that projection. Westbrook is averaging 61.6 Draftkings points per game against the Lakers in two games this season, it would be pretty hard for me to talk you off of him. The same can be said for teammate Paul George, as he is averaging 54.1 Draftkings points per game against the Lakers this season. My favorite play from this tier is probably James Harden, he is averaging 65 Draftkings points per game in three games against the Kings this season. Nikola Jokic has struggled a bit against the Warriors this season, averaging less than 40 Draftkings points per game in three games. I wouldn’t do a full fade of Jokic, but I’m certainly lower on him than the other guys in this tier.
Madness’s Tier One Rankings:
- James Harden
- Russell Westbrook
- Paul George
- Nikola Jokic
Tier Two:

The Domination Station is pretty tight on all these guys, with Steph Curry edging out the rest as the best-projected play. Projecting which of the duo from the Warriors will have the best game is pretty difficult to do on a nightly basis. I would set similar exposures to them, as they both could end up having nice games here. My favorite play in this tier would be Trae Young, as you probably know, I love targeting point guards against the Spurs. Not only that, but Young has gone for at least 48 fantasy points in four straight games. LaMarcus Aldridge will be able to do whatever he wants against Alex Len and company tonight, I don’t have any issue with using him in this tier. If I had to rank them I would go, Trae Young, Aldridge, Curry, then Durant last.
Madness’s Tier Two Rankings:
- Trae Young
- LaMarcus Aldridge
- Steph Curry
- Kevin Durant

Tier Three:

DeMar DeRozan is projected the best here, by a slight margin over Clint Capela. Of the two, I would actually prefer Capela. Capela should be able to do whatever he wants down low, as the Kings rank 20th in defense against opposing centers. He is also averaging 52 Draftkings points against the Kings in two matchups this season. De’Aaron Fox is the one guy I probably won’t have exposure to here, I don’t like targeting point guards against Chris Paul defense. Speaking of Chris Paul, he is averaging 41.8 Draftkings points per game against the Kings this season, which puts him into play here as well. Lastly, DeMarcus Cousins is in play as well, as the Nuggets rank 22nd in defense against opposing centers.
Madness’s Tier Three Rankings:
- Clint Capela
- DeMar DeRozan
- Chris Paul
- DeMarcus Cousins
- De’Aaron Fox
Tier Four:

Again, we have another pretty tight tier here. I’ll start with Klay Thompson who is one of the safer options here, he is averaging 43.3 Draftkings points per game against the Nuggets this season. Thompson is near the top of this tier for me. Buddy Hield has 50 point fantasy upside on any given night, given the matchup with the Rockets I love him as a GPP play and is also playable in cash games. Paul Millsap draws the best matchup in this tier, as the Warriors rank 28th in defense against opposing power forwards. Rajon Rondo is a GPP only play for me, he’s had back to back 50 point fantasy games, but that could all come crashing down right as people jump back on him. Marvin Bagley is a lower option for me, he’ll have a tough matchup with Clint Capela and has been a little sporadic as of late. Finally, JaVale McGee continues to play well but runs into one of the toughest matchups for a center in the league. Steven Adams is a beast on defense, so I’ll reserve my McGee shares for GPPs.
Madness’s Tier Four Rankings:
- Klay Thompson
- Buddy Hield
- Paul Millsap
- JaVale McGee
- Rajon Rondo
- Marvin Bagley
Tier Five:

The Domination Station likes Steven Adams the most here, and it’s hard to argue with that. The Lakers rank 24th in defense against opposing centers this season. Alex Len may see a minutes bump with John Collins ruled out tonight, he is a very solid option here. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope draws a good matchup, as the Thunder rank 24th in defense against opposing shooting guards. I would reserve him for GPP, as he is very shooting dependent. Bogdan Bogdanovic should be able to get up a good amount of shots tonight in what should be a high scoring game with the Rockets. Draymond Green has scored over 30 fantasy points in four straight games, and always has triple-double upside. Rudy Gay, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Dennis Schroder are all fine GPP options.
Madness’s Tier Five Rankings:
- Steven Adams
- Bogdan Bogdanovic
- Alex Len
- Draymond Green
- Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
- Rudy Gay
- Willie Cauley-Stein
- Dennis Schroder
Tier Six:

Derrick White grades out the best here and is my favorite play from this tier. The Domination Station and I have been aligning pretty similarly today, which is always a plus! The Hawks rank dead last in defense against point guards, White should be able to take advantage of that. Will Barton has averaged 24 Draftkings points per game against the Warriors this season, you can make a case for him in GPP. Alex Caruso is coming off a huge game in their last outing, I don’t expect him to shoot that well again, however. I don’t see any reason to go with Bryn Forbes here, the upside just isn’t there with him. The same can be said with Nemanja Bjelica now that Marvin Bagley is back. Mason Plumlee, Jerami Grant, and Harrison Barnes are all GPP plays here, but for me, this tier is pretty cut and dry with Derrick White.
Madness’s Tier Six Rankings:
- Derrick White
- Will Barton
- Harrison Barnes
- Mason Plumlee
- Jerami Grant
- Alex Caruso
- Bryn Forbes
- Nemanja Bjelica
