NBA Full Court Press for Sunday, March 3rd

Portland Trail Blazers 115.3 at Charlotte Hornets 112.8
Vegas – POR 2.5
Total – 228

This game starts at 1:00 pm est so it’s not on Fanduel or Draftkings as an early game slate so if you wanna play this game you’ll have to go after the Single Game (Fanduel)  and Showdown (Draftkings) slates. Lillard, McCollum, and Nurkic all scored 44 or more fantasy points in the 1st game this season vs the Hornets. The Blazers won that game by 31 but they are only 2.5 point favorites here today. Evan Turner is expected to return but I think Moe Harkless will still pick up plenty of minutes. In his last 5 games, he has been on fire averaging 32.5 FPs per game, so Turner’s return doesn’t worry me too much. The Hornets have a 109 defensive efficiency rating on the year so the Blazers are in a good spot here this afternoon.

On the Hornets side of the ball, they have several players that have been putting up solid fantasy points over their last 5 games. Kemba Walker 45 fp/gm, Nicolas Batum 35.3 fp/gm, Jeremy Lamb 32.3 fp/gm and Cody Zeller 33.8 fp/gm have all been playing well. The Blazers are tough defensively and only really struggle vs Small Forwards where they allow 8% more fantasy points than the league average. If I’m targeting Hornets I’m targeting Walker, Batum, Lamb and Zeller in that order.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Jusuf Nurkic, Kemba Walker, Jeremy Lamb, Nicolas Batum

💥💥 4 star play – Cody Zller, Moe Harkless

💥 Value -Miles Bridges

Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls
Vegas – TBD
Total – TBD

These two teams played Friday night and gave us an Instant Classic with Four Overtimes in Atlanta. The Bulls won the game 168-161 and if you didn’t have 4 or 5 guys from that game you likely missed the cash line Friday night. Today, I’m sure this game will have MASSIVE Ownership because of the recency bias and I’m not sure if I could blame anyone for going right back to the well here. Before we get started there are some key injuries on the Hawks side of things that we need to be aware of:

ATL John Collins – Doubtful
ATL Omari Spellman – OUT
ATL Taurean Prince – OUT

With Collins and Spellman out the Hawks will be thin up front. Alex Len and Dewayne Dedmon should play the bulk of the minutes here. Friday night Len played 35 minutes and scored 45.5 fantasy points while Dedmon played 33 minutes and scored 47.4 fantasy points. Neither has been priced up to account for that game just yet so they are both great plays here.

Trae Young is making a late push for Rookie of the Year as we push ever closer to the end of the Season. He won’t win the award as Luka Doncic pretty much has it all but locked up, but, Trae has been on fire for a few weeks now. He played 55 minutes on Friday night and scored 49 points, dished out 16 assists and grabbed 8 rebounds on his way to a slate high 79.6 fantasy points. Over his last 5 games, he has averaged 42 minutes and 52.8 fantasy points per game. He’s fully in play again here today in the exact same matchup.

With Taurean Prince out I’ll have some interest in DeAndre Bembry. He played 36 minutes last game and 34 minutes the game before that. In his 36 minutes Friday he scored 25.4 fantasy points and the game before he scored 42.8. He’s a very solid value play on this slate only priced at $4,700 on FanDuel.

On the Bulls side, our 3 main targets are going to be Zach Lavine, Lauri Markkanen and Otto Porter. All 3 eclipsed the 50 fantasy point mark in the 4 OT game on Friday and I’m expecting big games from all 3 of them again here today. The Hawks are one of the worst defensive teams in the league with a 111 defensive efficiency rating. Over the last 5 games, Lavine is averaging 48.5 FPPG, Markkanen 48 FPPG, and Porter 38 FPPG. They are elite plays on this slate in this matchup. Robin Lopez is also a solid play on the Bulls today. I’m not a fan of Kris Dunn as he hasn’t looked right since the All-Star Break, but he’s not a bad play today either.

💥💥💥 5 star play -Trae Young, DeWayne Dedmon, Zach Lavine, Lauri Markkanen, Otto Porter

💥💥 4 star play – Alex Len, Kris Dunn, Robin Lopez

💥 Value – Alex Len

Houston Rockets 112 at Boston Celtics 114.5
Vegas – BOS -2.5
Total – 226.5

HOU Iman Shumpert – Doubtful
HOU Gerald Green – Questionable

The spotlight game of the day is the Rockets visiting the Celtics. My Celtics have looked awful the past few games, but picked up a much needed win last game against the Wizards. Both of these teams want to win this game and I expect there to be a ton of scoring. Chris Paul stands out today, as he will be facing off against Kyrie Irving who doesn’t like to play defense. He’s a great pivot play off of a chalky Trae Young. As always, James Harden is always in play as he made me look foolish by putting up a 90FP performance when I said he didn’t have the ceiling with CP3 and Capela back. He will be guarded by Marcus Smart who is an excellent defender, so please keep that in mind. Clint Capela is also a solid cash game play, as the Celtics are soft down low and I’ve been rostering bigs against the C’s for years. Value wise, I like Gerald Green as a Drop Score Candidate on FanDuel if he plays, as he always has the ability to get hot.

On the Celtics side of the ball, Kyrie Irving is always in play as he has the ability to take over a game at anytime, and to keep this one close the Celtics are going to need him to score. However, I’m not as high on him as Chris Paul is still a really good defender, and Houston is actually ranked 1st aDvP against point guards which bumps him down a star for me. Marcus Smart will likely see over 30 minutes in this game chasing James Harden around, he’s definitely in play today at his price tag. Marcus Morris has been an outspoken leader of this team as well, and recently said he needs to step up his play so look for him to light a fire under this Celtics team, and I expect him to have a really good game. Tatum is also a fine cash game play as his peripheral stats give him a solid floor, but his ceiling is limited with Kyrie taking the majority of the usage.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Chris Paul, James Harden,

💥💥 4 star play – Clint Capela, Kyrie Irving, Marcus Smart, Marcus Morris, Jayson Tatum

💥 Value – Gerald Green (if he plays)

New York Knicks 110.3 at Los Angeles Clippers 120.3
Vegas – LAC -10.0
Total – 230.5

NYK DeAndre Jordan – Questionable

This should also be another high scoring game, and players from this game will likely have the lightest ownership as everyone will flock to the ATL/CHI game and HOU/BOS games and there are some really good pivot plays here as well.

There’s no way around it, the Knicks are a mess. Fizdale really rides the hot hand, which makes it difficult to predict their rotations. They also have 4 guys that play big minutes off the bench. Henry Ellenson seems to be Fiz’s favorite new toy, and makes for a solid value play and Drop Score Candidate on FanDuel as he’ll likely see 25+ minutes off the bench. I really like Mitchell Robinson today, as the trend lately is to target bigs against the Clippers. He should see 25+ minutes tonight and he has the ability to put up a 50 burger, especially against this Clippers interior. Dennis Smith Jr. is also a solid play today at PG if you’re looking to pivot off the chalkier options, I could see rostering either him or Emmanuel Mudiay. The rest of this team is too unpredictable for me.

Lou Williams burned me last time out, and I’ll be going right back for more punishment today as this is another great spot for him as the Knicks don’t play defense. Patrick Beverley should also see 30+ minutes tonight and is averaging 35 FPPM over his last 3. Landry Shamet has also found his way into the starting lineup and is settling into his role since being traded from Philly. He saw 33 minutes last game and at $4,100 on FD there’s not many guys on this slate priced that low with that type of opportunity. JaMychal Green is also in play today as a Drop Score Candidate on FanDuel, as he is making the most of his 20 minutes a game as he is averaging over 20 FPPG over his last 4. Danilo Gallinari also makes a solid pivot off of what will be the chalky Otto Porter Jr. as Danilo has the ability to fill it up when he gets hot. I also really like Montrezl Harrell in this game, as he hasn’t put up a 50 burger for us in awhile and he had a let down game against Sacramento, I expect him to bounce back tonight along with Lou. Hopefully we get a long night of watching those two pick and roll (it’s beautiful to watch).

💥💥💥 5 star play – Mitchell Robinson, Lou Williams, Montrezl Harrell

💥💥 4 star play – Dennis Smith Jr., Emmanuel Mudiay, Patrick Beverley, Danilo Gallinari

💥 Value – Henry Ellenson, JaMychal Green, Landry Shamet

Orlando Magic 110.3 at Cleveland Cavaliers 104.8
Vegas – ORL 5.5
Total – 215

ORL D.J. Augustin – Questionable

CLE Kevin Love – Will Play
CLE JR Smith – Out
CLE Tristan Thompson – Out
CLE Ante Zizic – Questionable
CLE John Henson – Out

On the Orlando side of the ball, D.J. Augustin went down with a sprained ankle last night and is questionable to play this evening. Orlando has a day off tomorrow so I would expect them to let him rest today, which likely thrusts Isaiah Briscoe into the starting lineup. If that is indeed the case then just lock Briscoe in as one of your Drop Score guys on FanDuel and move on. Nikola Vucevic also has a great matchup as the Cavs don’t have anyone that can guard him down low with Thompson out, he’s in a great spot tonight. I also like Aaron Gordon to bounce back tonight after a somewhat disappointing game against the Pacers last night. Jonathan Isaac makes a solid cash game play as he is been very consistently in that 25-35 FP range night in and night out. Now lets look at the Cavs.

EDIT: Word is spreading that Jerian Grant will likely start in Augustin’s place over Briscoe. I still like Briscoe tonight as he should still see additional minutes and not starting will make him a bit less chalky.

Last night against Detroit…….woof, they came out flat and just got absolutely pounded by the Pistons. The good news is that Kevin Love will play tonight so this game might actually stay somewhat competitive. Love makes a good cash game play tonight, but I think he’s priced right at value on both sites especially since he’s probably not going to play over 30 minutes the rest of the way as the Cavs are in full tank mode. Cedi Osman is still underpriced everywhere and should bounce back from a down game yesterday. Having Love back will open up some shots for him as the defense will be keying on K-Love. Collin Sexton’s minutes are also blowout proof as we saw yesterday, he played 35 minutes even in the blowout. He has some upside tonight against either a hobbled Augustin or his fellow rookie in Briscoe.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Isaiah Briscoe (if Augustin out), Nikola Vucevic

💥💥 4 star play – Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac, Kevin Love, Cedi Osman, Collin Sexton

💥 Value – Isaiah Briscoe

Toronto Raptors 112 at Detroit Pistons 107.5
Vegas – TOR 4.5
Total – 219.5

This should be a good game, as the Pistons are making a late season push and currently sit in the 7th seed which would pit them up against the Raptors in the first round. The Magic are also surging so the Pistons will want to win this game and avoid falling into the 8th seed and having to play Milwaukee. I’m not too high on Andre Drummond today, as the Raptors started Marc Gasol against the Blazers last game to stop Nurkic…and he did a great job. I expect them to start him again tonight which knocks Drummond’s ceiling down for me, but he’ll still get his boards. Kawhi will also likely slide over and take Blake Griffin so I’m not too high on him either, but both he and Drummond got to rest the 4th quarter last night so they’re both still in play, but they aren’t 5 star plays today. Luke Kennard makes a decent value play, as he should see close to 30 minutes off the bench again and can get hot. I’d also be okay playing Ish Smith tonight if you need a Drop Score Candidate at PG and could be a decent pivot from Briscoe.

On the Raptors side they’d like to beat the snot out of the Pistons to gain some confidence as the season is starting to wind down, and these two may very well meet in the first round. Kyle Lowry is in a great spot today as the Pistons aren’t great against guards and has scored over 45 FPs in two of his last 3 games. Kawhi is also a great play today as the Pistons don’t really have anyone that can stop him on the offensive end. He also looked great against the Blazers and was really looking to score. Marc Gasol might be my favorite Center play today if he starts (I expect he will). He’s only 6K on FanDuel and $5,600 on DraftKings. He has 50 FP potential in this one for sure. Pascal Siakam has been hot recently as well, he’s a 4 star play for me today, but would bump up to 5 stars if Kawhi sits for some reason. Danny Green is also an option at Drop Score on FanDuel and if he gets hot he can really pour it on.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Kyle Lowry, Kawhi Leonard, Marc Gasol (if he starts)

💥💥 4 star play – Andre Drummond, Blake Griffin, Pascal Siakam

💥 Value – Ish Smith, Luke Kennard, Danny Green

Minnesota Timberwolves 118.5 at Washington Wizards 120
Vegas – WAS -1.5

MIN Robert Covington – Out
MIN Luol Deng- Questionable

I’m going to be paying up for KAT tonight wherever I can tonight. The dude has been out of this world since returning from the All-Star break as that car accident seemed to invigorate him. The Wizards are bad against bigs as well and he put up over 60 FPs the last time these two teams played. Dario Saric also makes a great value play today, especially if he starts as the Wizards are dead last aDvP against PFs (Taj Gibson is playable as a Drop Score as well). Andrew Wiggins is also in play for me today, I’m not excited about it, but he’s always worth throwing in a couple GPP lineups as he has 50 FP potential and the Wizards aren’t great defensively. I like other PGs better tonight but I could see playing Teague as well to differentiate yourself from the field.

For the Wizards, there’s not really too much to get excited about outside of Bradley Beal. He should play close to, if not over 40 minutes and has been doing it all for this Wizards team. I think 40 FPs is his floor tonight. Trevor Ariza is never exciting to roster but he’s playing 35 minutes a game and is fairly priced across all sites. Jabari Parker is a GPP flier as well, but as we know is very boom or bust. Portis is a solid cash game play as well today, and he has upside, but he’s not on the level of KAT or Beal for me.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Karl-Anthony Towns, Bradley Beal

💥💥 4 star play – Andrew Wiggins, Jeff Teague, Trevor Ariza, Jabari Parker (GPP only), Bobby Portis

💥 Value – Dario Saric, Taj Gibson

Memphis Grizzlies at Oklahoma City Thunder
Vegas – TBD
Total – TBD

MEM Kyle Anderson – Out

OKC Paul George – Questionable

If Paul George sits again tonight, it’ll be hard not to roster Russell Westbrook, especially on FanDuel as he has the ability to break the slate (see James Harden the other night). He disappointed last night against the Spurs so I expect him to come out firing in this one. If George sits, Schroder is a great value play as well, sitting around 5K on both sites as he should see 30+ minutes if George sits. Jerami Grant has also been playing around 35 minutes a game and is a bit underpriced everywhere. I expect OKC to have Adams focus on stopping JoVal and Noah, so I don’t think he’ll be tasked to do much on the offensive end but he is a solid cash play.

For Memphis, Jonas Valanciunas will be matched up with Adams, who is a great defender and these two will be exchanging blows all night. He seems a bit overpriced everywhere considering the matchup so I likely won’t be rostering him tonight. Instead I’ll take some shares of Mike Conley for the win! Conley is one of the most underrated point guards in the league, and he loves these big games against other big name guards. He going to do his best to upstage Russell Westbrook in this one. Avery Bradley is another guy playing over 30 minutes for this Grizzlies team and is getting comfortable in his role since being traded. He’s a solid value play tonight. Joakim Noah is also in play tonight, but his price has come up across the industry as he is splitting minutes with JoVal, I’m not too high on him tonight for the same reasons I’m not on Valanciunas.  I have a bit of interest in Bruno Caboclo as a Drop Score guy on FanDuel as he’s only $3,800 and should see close to 30 minutes again, but he isn’t a great FPPM guy so I don’t expect him to put up 35 FPs like he did last game.

💥💥💥 5 star play – Russell Westbrook, Dennis Schroder (if George sits) Mike Conley

💥💥 4 star play – Jerami Grant, Steven Adams, Joakim Noah (cash)

💥 Value – Avery Bradley, Bruno Caboclo
