Mutt18’s Strategy for Winning NBA Tiers Lineups for Draftkings - Mar. 27th, 2019

Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Steve aka @Mutt_18 on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

I’ll just get it out of the way and say that I love Dame tonight, he’s going to get all of the usage tonight. Nurkic is out for the year after that nasty leg injury, and McCollum is out at least another 4 games. He should put up 30 shots tonight and gets a soft injury filled Chicago backcourt. He’s going to feast tonight. I also like him above Westy and George because you have the two of them competing for FPs and they’re on the same team. If I had to choose one over the other, I’d go with Paul George because of the revenge factor and he gets a slightly better matchup as no one on Indiana can hang with him. But I’ll be playing Dame in most of my lineups tonight.

The NBA Research Station is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily. The info in the NBA ReSearch Station includes today’s 📊 DFS Army Projection, Adjusted DVP matchups and much more. This tool will cut your daily research time in half. If you’re familiar with CeeGee and Ben you already know the time they’ve put into the “Sheets” and are extremely happy to provide them as apart of your DFS Army VIP Membership this year.

Tier Two:

Here it gets a bit muddier, as we once again have two players from the same team in the same Tier, vying against each other for FPs. Add in the matchup and they face off against a Grizzlies team that really slows down the pace of a game, and if Conley is out again, likely won’t be too competitive. This actually helps as we can almost cross both of them out. However, if Conley sits, I would consider Steph to as a lower owned pivot as he should abuse whoever they have left to guard him. Moving on, my favorite play of this Tier is Bradley Beal. He is still Mr. Do It All for the Wizards and gets a cake matchup against one of the worst defenses in the league in the Phoenix Suns. No one on the Suns can guard him, and Booker is a really bad defender as he only focuses on offense. Beal is a tougher defender, which sours me a bit on Booker, along with the fact that Booker has Ayton, who has the best matchup on the team. Booker is also very scoring dependent whereas Beal will get rebounds, assists, and steals to help boost his FPs. And with how lax the Suns are with the basketball he should grab a few steals tonight.

Tier Three:

Ahh what a time in the year! Being held hostage by the one and only Mike Conley as a huge factor that could completely change the landscape of the slate. And as I’m typing this he’s just been confirmed in so load him up! He gets a cake matchup against Steph, and if the Grizz are going to keep this competitive, they’re going to lean on him for scoring and you know he wants to break that record. My next favorite play is Donovan Mitchell, as he gets a great matchup against the Lakers, but I have some worries about it being competitive with LeBron out. Rudy Gobert also gets a great matchup, as the Lakers struggle to rebound and he’ll face off against the white hot Javale McGee who isn’t a great defender. If you’re looking to go different then I would go with Klay Thompson as he has the highest ceiling in this Tier, but given the matchup I’m a bit hesistant.

Tier Four:

This Tier is definitely tough, as we have a lot of great options here that have fantastic matchups so I’ll go through them. Ayton gets a phenomenal matchup as Washington can’t rebound and is ranked 24th over the last 2 weeks against Centers. He averages over a FPPM and should see over 30 minutes tonight. Bobby Portis is also in a great spot as PHX is basically in the same boat against bigs as Washington and are actually a bit worse. However he is a bit volatile, but given the matchup, he’s definitely worth a shot here tonight. Kuzma also has a solid matchup but I’m concerned about blowout risk here, but with no LeBron he sees a nice usage rate boost. Parker is also in play as well, but I’m a bit bullish on him coming off the bench as it limits his ceiling, I’d prefer a guy playing starting minutes in Tiers. And now everyone’s new favorite, JaVale McGee. I think his hot streak ends tonight as he faces off against Rudy Gobert, aka the Stifle Tower, who will be all over him tonight. Gobert is one of the best defensive players in the league, and I usually avoid guys when they are matched up against him. If you want to play him, I get it as he is on a hot streak, but it is more likely than not that he duds tonight.

Tier Five:

Tiers 5 and 6 are where it gets difficult, and this is where I usually turn to the DS projections for help, as they are usually pretty accurate. Here, it has the top option as Myles Turner, which is who I was leaning towards in the first place. He gets a tougher matchup against Adams, but I think this is a very competitive game, not only getting him a few more minutes and he’ll have plenty of block opportunities. Thomas Bryant should also bounce back in this one as Ariza only lasted 7 minutes last night. He should see close to 30 minutes again tonight against Ayton and those two should be slugging it out down low. Third in the projections is Tomas Satoransky, who will not be highly owned and also has a great matchup. One guy I also think is always undervalued is Bojan Bogdanovic, as he can get hot and get you 40-50 FPs, but he has a tougher matchup tonight against Paul George, so I’ll likely be staying away there. None of these other guys really excite me, especially Rondo as he doesn’t play as well without LeBron.

Tier Six:

I’ll start off this Tier by saying that my favorite play here is going to be Darren Collison, as he gets a great matchup in a competitive game, and gets to face off against Russell Westbrook’s non-chalant “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” style of defense. My second favorite play here is Steven Adams, as he’ll be battling it out all night with Turner and I think there are plenty of FPs to go around in this game. I’m not high on Schroder and Wright, as Schroder comes off the bench, and Conley is playing tonight which hurts Wright’s value. Thad Young is always an uninspiring play, and if you want to play an Indiana PF, I’d prefer Sabonis. Jerami Grant is not a good play tonight, as Indiana is very tough on PFs. I could see getting behind Favors tonight, as the Lakers are soft down low and he’ll likely be low owned. Rubio has a great matchup tonight as well, but I think a lot of people will be on him and I’d prefer to play Collison at lower ownership.
