Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 5, 2019

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/5/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 10-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

COL 1 – Kerfoot, MacKinnon, Rantanen: DET is bottom 3 in the league in goals allowed, shots allowed and high danger chances allowed over their last ten games. Virtually every Avalanche player is in play tonight but easily my favorite stack on the night is their top line. Over the last 5 games, MacKinnon and Rantanen have 34 shots on goal and nine points combined – Kerfoot is holding his own too. DET has no answer for these guys.

DAL 1 – Hintz, Seguin, Radulov: The Rangers defense is not much better than Detroit’s. This line has 41 shots on goal and 9 points over the last five games. Adding the salaries into the equation, they are about equal to COL 1. Radulov is also cash viable.

MTL 2 – Byron, Domi, Shaw: According to our MTL guru AnthonyP, the Canadiens have swapped Byron and Drouin. Domi and Shaw have been absolutely on fire lately scoring. The two of them have six goals over the last five games and the line has 5 goals over the last three. If they draw the start against LAK 1 they have the potential to be the highest scoring line on the slate.

Other expensive stacks

TB 2 – Johnson, Point, Kucherov – Too easy to write these guys up. WPG is a wreck defensively
PIT 1 – Guentzel, Crosby, McCann
BOS 1 – Heinen, Bergeron, Marchand – There are a lot of hot players in this game but both defenses have been terrific
CAR 2 – Teravainen, J. Staal, Ferland – There are a lot of hot players in this game but both defenses have been terrific
NSH 1 – Forsberg, Johansen, Arvidsson
CAR 1 – Williams, Aho, Niederreiter – There are a lot of hot players in this game but both defenses have been terrific

Filler Stacks

MIN 1 – Donato, E. Staal, Zucker
NSH 2 – Granlund, Turris, Smith
ARI 2 – Hinostroza, Richardson, Panik
ANA 2 – Silfverberg, Shore, Rakell
NYI 1 – Lee, Nelson, Bailey
OTT PP1 – Tkachuk, Ryan, White (Don’t leave Chabot out of this stack) – Deep GPP play, go less than 5%

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Klingberg: I think DAL is in a smash spot tonight and he runs the point on the PP. He’s averaging 17 FD points over his last 5 games.

Ekman-Larsson: Don’t look now, but Arizona is rolling and OEL is one of the main reasons for it, he’s averaging over 23 points a game. ANA is playing solid defense lately, but ARI has been finding a way to win.

Barrie: COL is ready to score 5 tonight. DET doesn’t do anything well and they are in full “Lose for Hughes” mode. Barrie leads the slate in shots on goal over the last three weeks. He offers a great floor and ceiling

Honorable Mentions: Hedman, DeAngelo, Josi, Yandle, Hamilton, Krug, Guhle, Manson, Chychrun

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Bishop: 1-2-0/1.68/0.953 There are a ton of good goalie options tonight. But I think the best cash goalie on the slate in Bishop. The Rangers have been scoring at a decent clip (10th in the league over the last ten games) but DAL plays terrific defense in terms of goal suppression, but they give up enough shots to give Bishop both a solid floor and ceiling. ALL FORMATS

Vasilevskiy: 8-0-0/1.46/0.950 He is as close to a lock for the win as there is on this slate. I’m going to have a hard time paying up for him with similar options on the slate for a lot cheaper. If you are making multiple teams, I would definitely get some Vasil exposure. ALL FORMATS

Schneider: 4-3-0/2.45/0.923 I will not have a lot of exposure to him, but I do want to take a couple of shots in GPP’s with him. CBJ is not scoring a lot lately, but they are taking a ton of shots and very few of those are high danger chances. NJ is bad, so don’t go overweight on him at all, but the high ceiling is very intriguing to me here. GPP only

Honorable Mentions: Greiss, Halak, McElhinney (both goalies in that CAR- BOS game have slate breaking ceilings), Kuemper, Varlamov

GOAL PREDICTION:
