Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings March 3, 2019 EARLY SLATE

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 3/3/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 20% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 3-game EARLY slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

FLA 1 – Huberdeau, Barkov, Hoffman: OTT gives up the most goals on the slate. Florida’s 4th line did the damage last night, I expect the big guns to do the scoring today. The combo of Huberdeau and Barkov have six goals in the last ten games and now they have Hoffman added to the mix.

VAN 1 – Spooner, Horvat, Leivo: I think this is a sneaky smash spot for VAN. The top 3 lines are all in play but this group has the best floor/ceiling combo and should match up with VGK 1.

COL 1 – Kerfoot, MacKinnon, Rantanen: All three guys are a point per game over the last 5 and Nate is averaging almost 5 shots a game.

Other stacks

VAN 2
COL 2
FLA 2
VAN 3
VGK 2

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Yandle: Florida should be the highest scoring team on the slate and Yands runs the point on the powerplay. I will be heavily exposed to him

Barrie: He’s not going to sneak up on anyone being the point man on the second highest scoring teams on the slate over the last ten days.

Edler: Heeeee’s baaaack!! He did Alex Edler things in his first game back from injury with 5 blocks. VGK shoots a ton so he has a great floor again this afternoon

Honorable Mentions: Ekblad, Chabot, Schmidt, Theodore, Guhle, Graves

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**

Markstrom: 3-3-2/2.21/0.933 On a three game slate you need to get off the chalk to do any damage in GPP’s. I think this is a good spot for Markstrom, even though he is a big underdog on the road. He has put up solid numbers lately and Vegas shoots a lot. They are #1 in shots on goal over their last ten. I think Markstrom has the highest ceiling on this slate.

Varlamov: 5-3-3/2.55/0.927 Another road goalie! Anaheim can’t score at all. They are worst in the league in scoring over their last ten and COL is #2 in GA. This is major shut out potential. COL doesn’t allow a lot of shots, so that could keep him from reaching his ceiling in this game, but it will not keep me off of him.

Luongo/Fleury: I combine these two because I believe they will be the chalkiest of the six goalies on this slate and neither have played very well lately. I would give the edge here to Bobby Lu because Ottawa has lost their will to live and FLA will be angry after losing in OT to the Canes last night.

Honorable Mentions: Miller (if you’re making 50+ lineups)

GOAL PREDICTION: Alex Barkov
