DFS Madness's Strategy for Winning Draftkings NBA Tiers Lineups - Mar. 6th, 2019

Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

First off I want to give a shoutout to MattDawg38 who took down a big chunk of change playing tiers last night! Congrats man, let’s do it again tonight!

Tier One:

Tier one is headlined by the Lakers and Nuggets game, for good reason. The Domination Station likes LeBron James to score the most points in this tier, but I actually might prefer Nikola Jokic. The Lakers rank 25th in defense against centers this year, which puts Nikola Jokic firmly in play as one of the top plays on the slate. I worry a little about the Lakers and that their little odds of making the playoffs will mean LeBron doesn’t see 40 minutes as he has been. But, that’s just speculation by me, LeBron is still a great play. Kyrie Irving was on pace for a massive night last night but didn’t play the 4th quarter because they were up by so much. He’s in a good spot here, but I just think Jokic offers a better floor and ceiling.

The NBA Research Station is my #1 source for research every single day and is one of the VIP Only tools our members have access to daily. The info in the NBA ReSearch Station includes today’s 📊 DFS Army Projection, Adjusted DVP matchups and much more. This tool will cut your daily research time in half. If you’re familiar with CeeGee and Ben you already know the time they’ve put into the “Sheets” and are extremely happy to provide them as apart of your DFS Army VIP Membership this year.

Tier Two:

This tier is very interesting to me because there are a lot of good options. Ben Simmons is playing pretty much 40 minutes per night with Embiid off the court and is not disappointing in those minutes. He’s gone over 50 fantasy points in four of his last five games, including a 66 point game. He draws a weak Chicago defense tonight and should be able to keep that 50 streak going. Julius Randle has scored 50+ fantasy points in three of his last four games, I like him here, it is a tough matchup though. Donovan Mitchell struggled in this matchup on Monday, but I’m willing to go back to the well here in a pace up spot against the Pelicans. Finally, Trae Young draws a great matchup against the Spurs, who I love to attack with point guards. We did the same thing with Jamal Murray the other night. Trae Young is a great play here.

Tier Three:

Rudy Gobert gets another crack at the Pelicans after dropping 48 fantasy points on them on Monday. They don’t have enough size out there with Davis limited/out and Randle/Diallo being too small. This is a good spot for Gobert. Devin Booker gets a great matchup, the Knicks rank 26th against opposing shooting guards. He scored 54.3 Draftkings points in one matchup against this team this year, he’s certainly in play. DeMar DeRozan is in a great spot here, the Hawks are dead last in defense against opposing shooting guards. D’Angelo Russell and Lauri Markkanen are both GPP options for me given the other options we have. They both have huge upside, but I would just prefer the other three for cash games.

Tier Four:

Tobias Harris, much like Ben Simmons, is playing massive minutes with Embiid off the court. Not only that, but he’s scored at least 48 Draftkings points in three of his last four games. I would expect him to get big minutes yet again tonight and keep this hot streak going. Jimmy Butler isn’t getting quite as many minutes, but he’s still producing nicely. Butler also gets to return “home” to Chicago tonight where he left with some bad blood. I like Jimmy a good bit tonight. LaMarcus Aldridge is also in a good spot, the Hawks have zero bodies left in the front-court and he should be able to do whatever he wants. Jrue Holiday just keeps producing consistent fantasy games. He’s scored at least 40 fantasy points in six straight, you can certainly go with him if you would like. Kevin Love has yet to break 30 minutes, and he may not for the rest of the season, but the Nets do rank 25th against opposing power forwards and he has been playing very well as of late.

Tier Five:

This tier is a bit ugly, but there are two guys that I think could produce nicely. DeAndre Ayton has gone for 44 and 50 fantasy points in his last two games and gets a good matchup here. I will say I like him more if Jordan sits, as he can be a tough defender at times. De’Aaron Fox has been very consistent, scoring 33+ fantasy points in his last eight games, it’s not a great matchup but I don’t think he has huge downside here. Al Horford is always a nice floor play, he will almost never kill you. Otto Porter is playing well ever since joining the Bulls, he’s going to get 30 minutes almost every night it seems and will likely avoid Jimmy Butler defense. If DeAndre Jordan is out that would make Mitchell Robinson my favorite player on this team. The Suns rank 27th against opposing centers on the season, Robinson should see around 25-30 minutes if Jordan sits. Buddy Hield and Paul Millsap make for great GPP plays.

Tier Six:

The final tier has some nice point guard options that we can attack. Starting with Rajon Rondo, Rondo has been killing it, but he needs to start for me to have interest. I would think he would start here, but keep an eye out for a starting lineup. If he starts Rondo is a great play here. Another guard option is Jamal Murray, he is coming off a great game against the Spurs and has been pretty consistent over his last 10 games, averaging 33.2 fantasy points per game. Kelly Oubre has been playing very well and sees a decent matchup here, I like him as well. Dennis Smith is strictly a tournament option due to his volatility. Willie Cauley-Stein will continue to see more minutes with Marvin Bagley out, he’s also a solid option. I don’t have a whole lot of interest in Larry Nance or Joe Ingles. Derrick Favors has been crushing lately but is coming off a dud last game. Look for him to rebound here in a rematch against the Pelicans.
