Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

We can see above that the Domination Station has the king himself projected to be the highest scoring player in this tier. I think he is probably the right move here, I have a feeling Giannis may sit this matchup. Giannis has been a bit banged up and this is a game that they likely won’t need him in. If he doesn’t sit, I think they at least monitor his minutes to gear up for a deep playoff run. With that said, you can certainly play him in GPP, as we saw his 80 point upside last game against Utah. LeBron has scored 60+ fantasy points in four of his last five games and is the highest projected total game on the slate. Nikola Jokic is probably my second guy from this tier, the Spurs have been really poor defensively all around for about the past month. LaMarcus Aldridge is a decent defender, but he may end up on Paul Millsap. If Jakob Poeltl ends up guarding Jokic, he’s going to be in for a massive game.

Tier Two:

Many people will see Luka Doncic and the Nets and immediately go there without giving him a second look. If we dig a bit deeper, the Nets are actually ranked first in the league at defense against opposing point guards. Now, Doncic isn’t your average point guard so we do need to take that with a grain of salt. In one matchup with the Nets this season, Doncic scored 41.75 Draftkings points. I think Doncic is certainly in play, but make sure to give the other guys in this tier a look first before you jump on to Doncic. Trae Young has been playing out of his mind lately, he was on his way to another massive game yesterday before getting ejected after 18 minutes (awful ejection by the way). He scored 28.5 Draftkings points in those 18 minutes, yes it was the Bulls, but he’s been doing it to everyone. The Hawks and Heat have played three times this season, and in those three games, Young is averaging 41.8 Draftkings points per game. If Anthony Davis is out I like Julius Randle, although it is a tough matchup with Derrick Favors and Rudy Gobert. Donavon Mitchell makes for a very good play in an uptempo game against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Tier Three:

I’ll start with D’Angelo Russell, he’s been playing very well and people may see the game logs and go right back to him. However, Spencer Dinwiddie has come back from injury and will cut into Russell’s playing time. We’ve already seen this happen, last game Russell only played 23 minutes. Due to this, Russell is a GPP only play for me. Rudy Gobert draws a great matchup against the Pelicans, who rank 23rd in the league against opposing centers. If Anthony Davis ends up missing this game, they will have very little size to try and matchup with Gobert. Devin Booker becomes my favorite play of this tier if Giannis ends up sitting. Not only will the game stay closer for longer, but he won’t have to deal with as much length on the court. If Giannis plays, I still like Booker here. I’ve been saying it all year, the Bucks can’t guard the 3-point line so he should have no problem getting open shots. LaMarcus Aldridge is a fade for me given the tough matchup with the Nuggets front-court. Finally, DeMar DeRozan is a GPP play for me, as he’s been a bit up and down as of late.
Tier Four:

If Giannis ends up being limited or sits altogether here, Khris Middleton becomes my favorite play of this tier. He and Eric Bledsoe would be asked to carry the load. If Giannis plays, Middleton is still in play, as the Suns rank dead last at defending almost all the positions on the court. Lou Williams is another option here, he draws the highest total on the slate in a matchup against the Lakers. He leads the Clippers with a 32.6% usage rate and has averaged 46.8 Draftkings points in two matchups with this team this season. Buddy Hield is an elite GPP option with a matchup against the sorry Knicks. Jrue Holiday is in play for cash if Davis sits, but will be held to GPP if Davis plays. Finally, De’Aaron Fox and DeAndre Ayton are solid plays, I don’t love them and I don’t hate them.

Tier Five:

I always like myself a little revenge narrative… Eric Bledsoe did not enjoy his time in Phoenix and just signed a $70 million dollar contract with the Bucks. He gets to head back down there and take on the poor Suns tonight. Not only that, but Bledsoe is in great form right now. He missed the last game out, but before that, he went for 52 and 67 fantasy points. Brandon Ingram is also in great form, he has gone for 45+ fantasy points in two of his last four games and gets the highest total on the slate. Dewayne Dedmon is a great play if John Collins is ruled out again, in the past two games Collins has missed, Dedmon has gone for 34.5 and 45 fantasy points. Mitchell Robinson is a great play against the Kings should DeAndre Jordan sit again, Robinson just continues to produce and is one the safer plays on the Knicks if Jordan sits. Montrezl Harrell, Danilo Gallinari, and Anthony Davis are all fine GPP plays.
Tier Six:

Tier six is full of potentially great options, we will start with Willie Cauley-Stein. Marvin Bagley will be out for the foreseeable future which means Cauley-Stein will rack up minutes. Today he draws the Knicks hopeless defense, there will be plenty of rebounding and block opportunities for WCS tonight. Stacking against the Hawks has been proven to be profitable, meaning Josh Richardson is certainly in play. In three matchups with the Hawks this season Richardson is averaging 37.7 Draftkings points per game. Kelly Oubre should play his minutes whether this game blows out or not, making him a decent play. Dennis Smith Jr. is far too volatile now that Fizdale is playing with his minutes, he makes for a great GPP play though, should he get the minutes. Finally, we have a point guard against the Spurs.. you know what that means, load up! The Spurs are dead last in defense against point guards this season and Jamal Murray should have no problem producing here. Kyle Kuzma, Ricky Rubio, and Malcolm Brogdon all make for low owned GPP options.
