Hello folks and welcome to my NHL Positional Breakdown for Fanduel!
For those of you who are new to the DFS Army, new to NHL DFS, or just like to read different articles, my name is Matt Dell’Agnese and I’m an MLB and NHL coach and writer for the DFS Army. Hit me for a follow on twitter at mdellagnese14. If you are a DFS Army VIP member you will know that I’m fairly active in our NHL rooms and around to help coach for the amazing sport of Hockey. I was brought to the DFS Army in January and I wrote Painting the Black for baseball, analyzing pitching picks for the slates. If you’ve played MLB, NHL is very similar. The sports are both volatile and players can put up a 0 or low score at any time. Don’t get discouraged if you get cold, just keep with your process and the players will come around. For cash games, you want to correlate players who skate on the same line or same Power play line, in GPPs stack up the full lines. Thankfully, Chop has asked me to help out with our NHL content articles!

I will be breaking down each position with the players who I like with my reasonings for liking them on the slate! I am a Fanduel player, so these articles will include Fanduel pricing and scoring references! Remember to always check for confirmation of goalies and lines!

All Stats are over the Last 10 games unless noticed otherwise! This is a rough slate and should be played light and GPPs only! Let’s dive in!
Goalies
Ben Bishop: We like using Bishop at home, and the matchup with Arizona is pretty good. In his last 3 home starts, he has not scored any less than 24 fanduel points. If’ you’re going to play cash games, he’s your guy. ALL FORMATS
Carter Hart: Absolutely love using Hart in tournaments tonight. He’s just under Andersen and Bishop in price and I can see him going overlooked. He’s my favorite tournament goalie as he’s been on fire. It helps that Philly is playing amazing hockey right now too. He has scored over 20 fanduel points in each of his last 6 starts and 7 of his last 8 starts. GPP
Henrik Lundqvist: I like using Lundqvist at home and he has a great matchup against the Kings. He’s allowed either 2 or 3 goals in each of his last 5 games, but he’s been getting wins that are helping his fantasy points. I don’t think he will be that high owned but he could score 30 tonight. GPP ONLY
Others to consider: Darcy Kuemper, Garrett Sparks, Jacob Markstrom
Centers
Mika Zibanejad: On fire of late and good matchup against the Kings. He also gets Zuccarello back with him on the top line too. He has 6 goals, 3 assists, and 17 SOGBS in his last 5 games.
Auston Matthews: My other core center tonight. He’s heating up and has actually been safer than Tavares. TOR will be very chalky tonight, but I am going to be building around Zib and Matthews in cash and I love them in tournaments too.
Sean Couturier: Prefer him over Giroux tonight, but Giroux is in a great spot too. Couturier has just been more consistent in fantasy scoring for the Flyers. At his price, we do want around 14+ points, and he’s been around 12-14 for most games. Decent matchup, but tournament only for me.
Bo Horvat: Horvat is a beast for VAN. He shoots, scores, blocks shots and plays a bunch of minutes. We know Philly can allow goals, but with Hart playing so well right now, I’m not as on VAN tonight. Horvat has not scored less than 10 fanduel points in his last 6 games and before that had two 8 points performances. His floor is around 8 points.
Others to consider: Kevin Hayes, Elias Pettersson, Anze Kopitar, Tyler Seguin, John Tavares, Nick Cousins
Wings
Mats Zuccarello: Going to be paired with Zib for me in a lot of my lineups. He just came back from missing a few games and has not missed a beat. LA’s powerplay kill has been awful and I think NYR scores a PP goal tonight.
Jakub Voracek: He’s my preferred PHI play tonight and he has 30+ point upside. Markstrom can allow 3+ goals at any time. He has been an assist machine of late, getting 7 in his last 5 games. His floor is only around 6 points on some games, but I do like using him if you can get to him to get PHI exposure.
James Van Riemsdyk: He is cooling down a little bit, but still has 8 SOG in his last 2 games. I’m going to keep him just in tournaments though.
Alexander Radulov: If you are going to pair him up with Seguin and Klingberg, love those three in tournaments. The matchup for Dallas is a tougher one as Arizona suppresses a ton of shots. Rad does have to the upside to score and assist though.
Tyler Toffoli: One of my favorite value plays right now is Toffoli. He’s cheap and has been playing very well. Lundqvist can allow some goals and Toffoli has shown a floor of around 8 points lately. In his last 5 games, he has scored 14.4 fanduel points 3 times.
Brock Boeser: He’s been playing well for VAN lately. As I mentioned, the matchup is not the best for VAN, but he does have 13 fanduel points in 4 of his last 6 games. Only use him in tournaments though.
Patrick Marleau/Kasperi Kapanen: I don’t mind either of these in tournaments paired up with Matthews but I slightly prefer Marleau right now. Kap needs a fast-paced game and this just won’t be it. Marleau has 3 points in his last 2 games and is shooting a little more than normal.
Defense
Morgan Rielly: Going to eat the chalk with Rielly here tonight and pair him up with Matthews as much as possible. He’s starting to heat up and ANH has been very bad lately, allowing 3.9 goals/game in their last 10 games.
Travis Sanheim: Sanheim has been playing pretty good of late. He’s shooting a ton still and now has 3 points in his last 2 games. In his last 5 games, he has 13 shots, 16 blocks which is an absolutely great floor.
John Klingberg: Love pairing him with Seguin and Rad in tournaments tonight at low ownership. I don’t think people are going to use him with Rielly just cheaper than him.
Kevin Shattenkirk: More NYR exposure at a low price. He is on the third line, but he does get PP1 time for the Rangers and they have over a 30% PP of late.
Alex Edler: Usually has a great floor, but isn’t testing his ceiling lately. If I’m not using Hart though, I do like using Edler tonight. His floor is pretty high and PHI is allowing a lot of shots lately.
Others to consider: Esa Lindell, Brandon Montour, Drew Doughty, Cam Fowler,
