.Welcome to the DFS Army NBA Free Squares article, where I will try to break down my favorite NBA Free Squares and Fanduel and Draftkings for Today’s NBA Slate.
So what is a Free Square exactly? In NBA DFS there will be situations that come up that will lead to bench players getting more minutes. Some may even enter the starting lineup. The low cost of these players will allow us to spend up across the rest of our lineups. Wich gives us the ability to lock in some high dollar studs.
NBA Free Squares for Today February 22nd
💥 MEM – C – Ivan Rabb $3,800
The Grizzlies are dealing with several injuries tonight as they welcome the Clippers to the Grind House. We already know starting Center Jonas Valanciunas is OUT along with Kyle Anderson for tonight’s game. Valanciunas’ absence is going to open up a ton of minutes for Rabb. He has flashed tremendous upside when given substantial minutes. At near min price on Fanduel tonight and will be everyone’s defacto Drop Score candidate. He had a very hot stretch recently before the acquisition of Valanciunas, where he was playing 24-30 minutes per game and scoring around 24-35 fantasy points per game. His best game was against the T’Wovles on 2/5/19 where he played 33 minutes and dropped 42.7 fantasy points at just $3,600. I’m not sure if he’ll go bananas like that again tonight, but, I do know he’ll have plenty of minutes to do so. The Matchup vs the Clippers is a juicy one as they play at a 104 pace and have a Defensive Efficiency Rating of 109 on the Season (100 is league average). The Clippers also allow 14% more Fantasy Points to Centers than the league average and we should expect Rabb to see some time at Center tonight with Valanciunas out. He has the upside for A 9 or 10x value performance in this situation and matchup tonight.
💥 SA – SG – DeMar DeRozan – $7,900
REVENGE!!! The last time DeRozan faced off against his former team back in early January, he dropped a tripled double on them with 21 points 14 rebounds and 11 assists on his way to 57.3 fantasy points. Tonight will be his first game back in Toronto since the trade and I’m expecting another great game from him. He’s priced under $8k on Fanduel at only $7,900 and should be one of the top options on this slate. The matchup vs the Raptors is not great as they are a solid Defensive Team overall, but the Narrative here is simply too strong to ignore. DeRozan was devastated when he was traded from Toronto and I’m expecting him to go out of his way to SHOW THEM they made a mistake every time he plays them.

💥 MIN – PF – Dario Saric – $5,200
We received word earlier today that Karl Anthony Towns was in a car accident on his way to the airport yesterday. He is now with the team after taking a Commercial Flight, but he missed shootaround today. He’s currently being listed as Questionable but I’m expecting him to play. The T’Wolves are without Gorgui Dieng tonight already, so if Towns were to miss the game Saric would become one of the top options on the slate as the T’Wolves simply don’t have many big bodies left. Over his last 5 games, Saric has played 27 minutes and averaged 28.8 fantasy points per game. After struggling early on with Minnesota, he’s now finally starting to show some of that upside he showed us back in Philly. He has scored 28 or more fantasy points in 4 of his last 5 games and with the T’Wolves short-handed tonight, I’m expecting another solid outing.
💥 ORL – SF – Jonathan Isaac – $6,500
Isaac has been on a tear recently and has scored over 28.2 fantasy points in 13 of his last 14 games. Over his last 5 games, he is averaging 29 minutes and 33.8 fantasy points per game. Tonight he gets a matchup vs the Bulls who play at a 101 pace and have a 110 Defensive Efficiency Rating. His price is still about $1,000 lower than it should be given his recent production and consistency. He still has plenty of upside as well as he’s scored 0ver 34 points 5 times in this stretch.

💥 NYK – C – Mitchell Robinson – $6,100
This is a tricky one here as Robinson doesn’t normally approach 30 minutes on the court. He has only been playing between 20 and 25 minutes most nights, however, he’s been putting up GREAT numbers in those minutes. He has scored 28.4 fantasy points or more in 6 straight games. Over his last 5 games, he’s averaging 22 minutes and 33.7 fantasy points per game. That is a sky-high 1.50 Fantasy Point Per Minute. The Knicks really have no reason to run DeAndre Jordan out there for a ton of minutes. They are in full TANK MODE for the rest of the Season. So I’m expecting Robinson’s minutes to start picking up as the season winds down.

Karl Anthony Towns has the #1 AND1 Rating tonight of 22.5 in his matchup vs the Knicks today. On the Season the Knicks have played at a 102 Pace and have a 107 Team Defensive Efficiency Rating.
