Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/25/19
We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching, and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process, or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.
I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season. NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.
Take a peek at our latest winner. DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well! Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike. Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 6-game slate.
I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men, and goalies in order of my preference.
NHL FORWARDS
TB 2 – Kucherov, Point, Johnson: Kuch is on the slate and needs to be in your lineup. I believe they will match up with LAK 1 and that will be a blood bath for the Kings.
TOR 1 – Marner, Tavares, Hyman: While Marner is the only one that has shown a consistent floor over the last five games, they should get the match up against BUF 1 that has given up seven goals in the last ten games and four of those in the last three. I think with the value on TOR 2, that line will be more popular.
MTL 2 – Shaw, Domi, Byron: Normally I would put a line this cheap in the filler stack section but this is where the vast majority of their production has been coming from lately. You will be able to fit lots of studs around this stack too.
Other stacks
TOR 2- Johnsson, Matthews, Kapanen
FLA 1 – Vatrano, Barkov, Huberdeau
BUF 1 – Skinner, Eichel, Pominville
LAK PP1 – Toffoli, Kopitar, Kovalchuk – TB allows a lot of penalties and this group is popping up all over the DS – risky but big pay off if it hits
COL 1 – Kerfoot, MacKinnon, Rantanen – watch these lines. If Matt Nieto comes back the line blender will come back out. I will update in Slack
FLA 2 – Hawryluk, Trochek, Dadonov
NJ 1 – Palmieri, Hischier, Coleman/Wood/whoever fills in for the injured Jesper Bratt

DFS Studs on DEFENSE
Rielly: I expect Toronto to have a huge game today and Rielly has been full of fantasy points lately.
Josi: The most expensive Predator D-man, but he’s been worth it lately.
Weber: Another high floor, high ceiling defenseman. NJ is a mess and I expect MTL to take full advantage of it.
Honorable Mentions: Subban, Ellis, Yandle, Ekblad, Barrie, Ekholm (yes the top-4 NSH defenseman are in play), Dahlin, Ristolainen, Graves, Biega
GOALIES Set to Bring Value
**All stats are over the last three weeks unless otherwise noted**
Vasilevskiy: 6-0-2/1.46/0.952 His numbers are off the charts lately, his team can’t lose and he has a great matchup with LAK. My only concern in this matchup is that TB has been very good at suppressing shots, so Vasil might not be able to test his sky-high ceiling but he is still a goalie I want a lot of exposure to in ALL FORMATS.
Rinne: 4-3-0/2.60/0.914 He carries a huge money line favorite tonight, not as high as Vasil, though. I’m assuming Pekka is chalky because EDM can’t score anyway, and tonight they are without McDavid who is serving the second game of his suspension. CASH
Varlamov: 4-2-3/2.44/0.931 I never thought I’d write this guy up twice in a season, let alone twice in less than a week. He has been playing great of late and so has the Avalanche. Tonight is an interesting matchup because both teams are scoring and both teams are playing good defense. COL gives up a ton of shots but has been limiting goals. I’m not going to use him in cash games, but this is an excellent GPP spot.
Honorable Mentions: Andersen, Boyle/Miller (no confirmation on ANA goalie yet), Price, Reimer
GOAL PREDICTION: Max Domi
Remember guys, always confirm the starters after Morning Skate.
