Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/22/19
We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.
I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research Station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season. NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.
Take a peek at our latest winner. DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well! Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike. Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 5-game slate.
I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.
NHL FORWARDS
CHI 1 – Kane, Toews, Caggiula: Kane should be locked in all formats tonight unless you are running Varlamov. He is the hottest skater on the slate and his line mates aren’t too far behind him. Caggiula got hurt in the last game so watch the line combos during morning skate to see if he’s back. CHI PP1 is also in play because you get coverage from both top lines.
DET 1 – Mantha, Larkin, Bertuzzi: These guys are absolutely rolling right now. The Larkin/Bertuzzi combo has scored four goals in the last three games. MIN has given up close to four goals per game over the last 10 games and I believe they are starting Alex Stalock and that’s always a recipe for DFS success.
CGY 1 – Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk: This line has cooled off significantly but ANA has really struggled defensively. they’re last 10 numbers are significantly better than their L 5, but the talent is there and they should have a terrific night.
Other expensive stacks
CHI 2 – Debrincat, Strome, Kahun – actually hotter than CHI 1 right now
CGY 2 – Frolik, Backlund, Lindholm
WPG 1 – Wheeler, Scheifele, Connor
CBJ 1 – Panarin, DuBois, Atkinson – The get a massive boost if Panarin actually plays
VGK 1- Marchessault, Karlsson, Smith
Filler Stack
COL 2 – Nieto, Soderberg, Rantanen
COL 3 – Landeskog, Jost, Calvert – COL is playing really well since mixing their lines, but the scoring is hard to pin point though.
ANA PP2 – Silfverberg, Jones, Montour (Defense) – Silfverberg and Jones have been shooting a lot lately, but they are a low exposure stack or used as one offs
**There are rumors of Duchene being traded to CBJ and Stone sitting out, Drake Batherson may get inserted into the lineup and depending on where he is a great value option – this will be updated in Slack
Maybe prop bets are your thing, too? We are quickly expanding coverage into the different realms of sportsbetting!
DFS Studs on DEFENSE
Giordano: Should be used in all CGY 1 or PP1 stacks. He has the highest floor and ceiling of any defenseman on this slate.
Spurgeon: I like him as a one off tonight and should be involved if you are stacking MIN in GPPs. I truthfully don’t think I’m going to get there. Too many other good spots.
Barrie: Runs the point on the PP and despite the spread out scoring, Tyson Barrie is heavily invovled
Honorable Mentions: Gustafsson, Schmidt, Andersson (value), Graves (value), Myers, Theodore
GOALIES Set to Bring Value
**Stats over last three weeks unless otherwise noted**
Bobrovsky: 5-2-0/2.30/0.922 It always scares me to write up Bob, but he will be the chalk tonight on the road against the Senators who are likely to sit Mark Stone and Matt Duchene again. He will be my highest exposed goalie. He’s playing well but he is inconsistent. There are trade rumors surrounding him, so be aware of that. ALL FORMATS
Ward: 6-1-0/3.18/0.904 He is the most consistent Hawks goalie, but COL is heating up recently. This is risky and if Delia starts, I’m off him entirely. GPP
Valamov: 3-3-3/2.67/0.919 This is A LOT of risk because Chicago is scoring about 5 goals a game over the last 10 games. He has a massive ceiling and -999999 floor (only a slight exaggeration). GPP
Honorable Mentions: Bernier (MIN can’t score), Smith/Rittich (no confirmation yet), Miller (GPP)
GOAL PREDICTION:
Remember guys, always confirm the starters after morning skate.
