Flynnie's Forecheck - NHL DFS Advice for Fanduel and Draftkings

Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/19/19

We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our  VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.

I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season.  When you sign up to become a member, use promo code PUCK to give yourself 10% off for the life of your membership.

NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Take a peek at our latest winner.  DFSA is on fire over NBA All Star Break and would love to help you learn the game of hockey, as well!  Whether you are already a VIP or are just passing by, our coaches can teach the rookie and veteran alike.  Congrats to Handleyrs for a near 300 score and over $850 in winnings!!

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 9-game slate.

I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.

NHL FORWARDS

CBJ 1 – Panarin, Dubois, Atkinson: It’s been a while since I’ve highlighted this trio. They are scoring a decent clip right now, not great though: six goals over the last 10 games and three over the last three games. However they will likely split their match up between MTL’s top two lines (They did in the last match up about a month ago) and MTL 2 has been a defensive nightmare recently giving up eight goals over the last ten games and six of those coming in the last three. They are not the most expensive stack and aren’t really a filler stack, so my hope is that they do a bit overlooked.

TB 2 – Kucherov, Point, Gourde: Just play Kuch, he’s coming off a 5 point game last night and gets a little tougher match up tonight against Philly, but it certainly isn’t a match up that scares me. Maybe he doesn’t score 50 again, but a 20-25 point night is well within reach and his line mates will be a part of the scoring too, especially Point. Kuch is as close to an ALL IN as I’m willing to go in NHL DFS.

STL 1: Schenn, Tarasenko, O’Reilly: They have a tough overall match up against TOR, who has been playing surprisingly good defense all season and it’s gone to a new level with the addition of Muzzin. But what the overall numbers don’t tell you is that they will likely match up with TOR 2 and as we all know, Auston Matthews doesn’t play defense. A lot of people are going to choose between Senko and Kuch tonight and I’m really trying to fit them both in my cash games. I’m going to need some help from value opening up. HINT: Watch the Hedman situation tonight – that could open something up.

Other expensive stacks

CAR 1 – Niederreiter, Aho, Williams
PIT 1 – Crosby, Guentzel, Rust
NYR 1 – Zibanejad, Kreider, Zuccarello (tough defensive match up so temper expectations)
NSH 1 – Arvidsson, Johansen, Forsberg  – stack only. They are scoring but it’s a tough matchup
FLA 1 – Barkov, Huberdeau, Vatrano
TOR 2 – Matthews, Marleau Kapanen
DAL 1 – Seguin, Radulov, Benn
EDM 1 – McDavid, Kassian, Draisaitl – Great hammer stack, but risky

Filler Stack

NJ PP1 – Palmeiri, Bratt, Johansson
ANA 3 – Mostly I prefer a Silfverberg one off (maybe Max Jones for PP2 correlation – large field GPP only)
MIN 2 – Granlund, Parise, Kunin – probably chalky but for good reason

Maybe prop bets are your thing, too?  We are quickly expanding coverage into the different realms of sportsbetting!

DFS Studs on DEFENSE

Letang: The top pay up option on this slate. I think I’m going to pay down a little more on D, but if you want to stack PIT, he needs to be a part of it.

Pietrangelo: His price keep coming up, for good reason. He has been on an absolute tear and needs to be a part of your STL 1 or 2 stacks

Jones: I think CBJ is in a fantastic spot tonight and I think he goes over looked tonight. He’s in play for all formats.

Honorable Mentions: Lindell, Schultz, Larsson, Yandle, Pettersson, Spurgeon, Suter, Cernak

GOALIES Set to Bring Value

Binnington: 8-0-0/1.24/0.949 His price has jumped way up to 9.1K on FanDuel and he gets a tough match up against TOR. He is a fantastic young goalie but I don’t think I can trust him for cash in this situation, but he has massive upside. GPP

Stolarz: 2-0-1/1.96/0.948 over the last four weeks. He is making his EDM debut tonight and he’s almost min salary on FD. Arizona doesn’t shoot a ton but they can’t score and are on a road B2B. EDM actually has done a decent job limiting shots over the past month so that can take some pressure off Stolarz. HYBRID

Domingue: 2-0-0/2.00/0.933 TB is on a road B2B as well but that likely won’t affect them. They are scorching hot and Domingue has filled in great for Vasil in limited duty this season and will face a ton of shots. HYBRID

Honorable Mentions: Reimer, Andersen, Mrazek, Hart, Kuemper

GOAL PREDICTION: Nino Niederreiter
