Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/18/19
We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.
I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season. NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 5-game slate.
I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.
FORWARDS
**There are a lot of really good spots tonight, so I will give you some expensive stacks then some filler stacks for your GPP’s or pull one-offs from those lines for your cash games.**
BOS 1 – Heinen, Bergeron, Marchand: This line has been incredible since Pasta moved down to the second line, then got hurt a few days later. They have seven goals in the last 10 games while not allowing any, and have scored three goals in the last three. Heinen is still too cheap on FD (priced about right on DK) so that makes this line a lot more affordable than it was with three $8000+ guys. I’m assuming they get the match-up with Couture’s line. That line has been better defensively than the Hertl line, but not by a whole lot.
TB 2: Kucherov, Point, Gourde: Just play Kuch in all formats, he’s worth the price! Overall CBJ is solid defensively but their top line is still a liability. When this line is hot like they are you can’t afford to fade them.
COL 1 – MacKinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog: I think this line goes a little over looked tonight. I absolutely love them for GPP’s tonight. They should draw the match-up against VGK 2 which is by far their worst defensive line. And they will likely face Fleury in net who has not been himself in the last few games.
Other expensive stacks
TB 1 – Stamkos, Palat, Johnson
CHI 1 – Cagguila, Toews, Kane
CHI 2 – Strome, Debrincat, Kahun
WSH 1 – Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Wilson
SJ1 – Couture, Pavelski, Meier
Filler Stack
OTT2 – Stone, White, Tkachuk LOVE this line if Delia starts
CBJ2 – Anderson, Foligno, Sedlak
WSH 2 – Oshie, Vrana, Backstom (Should draw the better defensive match up)
LAK 1 -Kopitar, Iafallo, Brown
LAK 3 – Kovalchuk, Kempe, Hagelin – WSH is awful defensively (Throw Toffoli in a PP stack or use as a one off)
BOS 2 – DeBrusk, Cehlarik, Krejci
SJ3 – Thornton, Sorensen, Labanc

We crush all sports, pro or college
DEFENSE
Gustafsson: He is still cheap enough to use as a one off but I prefer him in a Chicago stack
Schmidt: He will go overlooked and has a great floor. He is an all format play for me.
McAvoy: Way too cheap for this match up. He is trending in the right direction and helps you fit more expensive stacks
Honorable Mentions: Burns, Krug, Carlson, Barrie, Jones, Chabot, Hedman, Cernak (if he plays), Erik Johnson, Murray
Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes
GOALIES
Vasilevskiy: 5-2-1/1.71/0.942 over the last four weeks. He is the most expensive goalie on the slate but I think he has to be your guy for cash games. I believe there is enough value on this slate to make it work. ALL FORMATS
Rask: 5-0-1/2.13/0.925 over the last four weeks. I can’t trust him in cash but he has been playing so well and Jones is prone to giving up a few. He’s not safe but he’s a solid GPP option. GPP
Ward: 5-1-0/2.63/0.929 over the last four weeks. CHI is primed to get bitten by the regression monster, but if Cam Ward starts today I think he has a great shot at the win and should see enough shots to give you GPP winning upside. I’m off Delia if he’s in, though. GPP
Honorable Mention: Bobrovsky, Nilsson, Quick (MME only), Varlamov (MME only)
GOAL PREDICTION: Nikita Kucherov
