Flynnie’s Forecheck for 2/1/19
We’re back!! After a long off-season of watching the greatest love story since Romeo and Juliet – obviously, I’m talking about Alex Ovechkin’s love affair with the Stanley Cup – it’s time to play some hockey. For those of you that are new to the DFS Army, my name is Rob Flynn. I’m an NHL DFS writer and coach inside the DFS Army. We have the best articles, coaching and tools in the industry. But let me tell you, the real money is made in the Slack chat that only our VIP’s have access to. That’s where we talk through a member’s lineup construction, thought process or just answer any DFS questions they may have. Every coach is very accessible and willing to share our own processes to help every member grow as a player.
I wrote an article describing some of my process and some tips to win. Check it out here. We also have a brand new Research station that is only available to VIP’s but here is the tutorial, to give you guys a taste of what’s coming this season. NHL DFS is very similar to DFS MLB. The volatility can be maddening, the floor of every player is ZERO and you need stacking in all contests. In cash games you need at least two players that correlate on either the scoring line or power play, to hopefully grab the goal and an assist. In GPP’s you need to stack up the entire line and hope that line goes off for multiple goals.

Without any further ado let’s dig into today’s 8-game slate.
I am primarily a cash/hybrid player but even that requires some stacking. So, I list my favorite and then I take the pieces from those stacks that fit my lineup construction. Unlike last season, I will put my stacks, D-men and goalies in order of my preference.
FORWARDS
CAR 1 – Niederreiter, Aho, Williams (GTD – watch for news) – One it was announced that Legace was starting for VGK it made me love CAR even more. The Canes are top- 5 in GF and SF in the last month. While VGK is solid defensively, I would trust them a lot more with MAF between the pipes. VGK 1 has also given up four goals over the last three games.
DET 1 – Larkin, Nyquist, Abdelkader – I think DET is in a sneaky spot tonight. I also like DET 2, combined these two lines have scored 15 goals in the last 10 games. TOR struggles on defense and DET will be very low owned.
CGY 1 – Monahan, Gaudreau, Lindholm – The best line in what should be the highest scoring game on the slate. They have eight goals over the last ten games and get a dream matchup with the defending champs who are a dumpster fire right now.
Honorable Mention: BUF 1, CHI PP1 (LOVE KANE), OTT 1, VGK 2, WSH 2, NYI 1, FLA 1 (VATRANO CASH LOCK)

We crush all sports, pro or college
DEFENSE
Carlson – He has 44 BSSOG over the last ten games and averaging over 16 FD points per game, he has over 20 FD points per game over his last five and he has a great matchup tonight against Mike Smith who has been awful this season.
Giordano – This guy has been anchoring the best offense in the league. He has a great floor and can test his 30 + point ceiling every night, especially going up against Holtby tonight. This game should be very high scoring and I want pieces of it in all formats.
Miller – I gave you two very expensive guys, so here is the best punt option on the slate. I think VGK is in a decent spot and Miller is too cheap at $3700 for his production.
Honorable Mentions: Josi, Klingberg, Hedman, Brodie, Ceci, Slavin, Ellis, Hamilton
Our long-time VIP Joker Wins took down a GPP and had two other top-10 finishes
GOALIES
Bishop: 4-3-0/2.32/0.918 I think Ben he is the safest goalie on the slate for cash games and I’m not sure how many will be on him. MIN has been winning lately but they are middle of the pack in scoring and defense over the last month. However their shots on goal are top 10 over that time giving Bishop more opportunities for saves in what should be a very low scoring game.
Nilsson: 4-3-0/2.14/0.931 over the last month. I expect next to zero ownership on this play. Everyone loves playing PIT and hedging the chalk is a great GPP strategy. I don’t think I can go there in cash games, but I love it in leagues and even small GPPs.
Greiss: 2-1-0/1.68/0.939. Another safe option that will not have any ownership. TB is coming off a dud against PIT the other night but they are a high powered offense. They have the misfortune of running into the #1 defense in terms of goals allowed over the last month and a hot goalie. I’m completely off TB outside of large GPP’s.
Honorable Mention: Saros (cash/hybrid viable), Murray (chalk, but I’m off him), Dubnyk (similar numbers to Bishop, but more wins – I just have more faith in DAL at home)
GOAL PREDICTION: Sebastian Aho
