DFS Madness's Game Break for Fanduel and Draftkings NBA Advice - February 3rd, 2019

Hello DFS Army! My name is Michael, otherwise known as DFS Madness on Twitter (@MadnessDFS), I am one of the new writers/contributors that the Army has brought on to join the team! I’ll be writing a Core 4 article a few times per week and then full slate breakdowns on the weekends. A quick little background about me, I am an Economics student at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse (yeah it’s cold here) with graduation coming this May. I’ve been playing DFS for about 4-5 years now and providing content for about 2-3 of those years.

Happy Super Bowl Sunday everyone! This article is coming out way later than I hoped, as I was having some computer issues, but let’s do it! Those of you who read the article yesterday know that I was all over James Harden last night and he actually came in under-owned at around 25% in cash games. We’ll take 86.5 draftkings points out of a 25% owned all day long. Another guy that crushed was Bobby Portis who was 13% owned and dropped a 50 burger on the Hornets. However, this is DFS so we can’t get stuck on yesterday too much, on to today’s 3 game slate!

NBA DFS Game Break:

Memphis Grizzlies @ New York Knicks:

Vegas Total: 201.0

Vegas Spread: Mem -1.5

We’ll start with the Grizzlies who will go on the road to take on the tanking Knicks. The Grizzlies will get Mike Conley and Jaren Jackson back in this game, so there is no need to go back to the Shelvin Mack well. However, Garrett Temple has been ruled out which means Justin Holiday will play as many minutes as he can handle and makes for a solid value play. If you want to go with Mike Conley I won’t talk you off of him as he was in excellent form before sitting out the last game, but he’s certainly not a core play. From the Knicks side, Dennis Smith Jr., Wesley Mathews and DeAndre Jordan are all available for this game, so it sounds like we don’t need to be forced into play Mario Hezonja again (slow clap). With Mudiay and Ntilikina still out it wouldn’t surprise me if Dennis Smith got thrown right into heavy minutes, however this is the Knicks so the logical move isn’t always what they go with. I’ll put DSJ as a GPP play and if you can stomach the risk, go for it in cash games. The only other guy I have interest in from the Knicks is DeAndre Jordan who is massively underpriced, again it’s the Knicks so we never know what Fizdale will do, but Smith and Jordan could excel here.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Boston Celtics:

Vegas Total: 228.0

Vegas Spread: Bos -3.5

When it comes to the Thunder it really comes down to Westbrook and George, who are both fantastic plays here. However, Paul George is playing at an MVP level and just cracked $10k on Draftkings and to be honest he’s still too cheap. Paul George is one of my favorite plays on this small slate. I’ll never talk you off of Russell Westbrook, but for $1,000 cheaper you can get similar production from George. Steven Adams is also in play here, Center isn’t the strongest position on todays slate and he draws a beatable matchup in Al Horford. He’s also far too cheap, if we go to the Domination Station, we can see that he is the 7th best point per dollar play on the slate. From the Celtics, the only guy I really want is Kyrie Irving if you can find the money. He normally excels in big games and I feel like he will play up to the competition of George and Westbrook.

Los Angeles Clippers @ Toronto Raptors:

Vegas Total: 227.0

Vegas Spread: Tor -11.o

This game features the biggest spread on the slate, however since the slate is so short we can’t rule out guys due to blowout risk. Starting with the Clippers, Danilo Gallinari is still out and Tobias Harris actually injured himself in the last game but seems okay to play here. The only guys I really love from the Clippers are Lou Williams and Patrick Beverley, Lou sees a massive usage increase with Gallinari off the floor and actually leads the team with 34.5%, on a small slate you gotta like that. Patrick Beverley dudded last game, but those are going to happen I like going back to the well in this one. From the Raptors, their whole starting five is in play in this great matchup. I honestly wouldn’t talk you off of any of them except maybe Danny Green because I just never get to him in cash games. Kawhi Leonard is right up there with George as the best spend of the slate but I’ll give the edge to George in that one. The two PF’s on Toronto are particularly interesting as they both seem a little too cheap.
