Welcome to the DFS Army Draftkings Tiers breakdown! The Tiers breakdown will consist of a breakdown of all six tiers on Draftkings and why you should or shouldn’t play some of these guys! My name is Michael aka @MadnessDFS on Twitter, make sure to give me a follow as I’ll occasionally make updates to the article and just because I like to think I’m a great Twitter follow (high hopes). But, you’ll mostly find me in our VIP coaching forums where I provide detailed lineup maneuvers and answer all lineup questions. With that said, let’s get it started!

Tier One:

If you gave my NBA Game Break article a read you know exactly where I’m going in tier one. Nikola Jokic is the best play on the slate in my opinion. The Clippers rank 28th in defense against opposing centers and won’t have the size to combat Jokic down low. Nikola Vucevic draws a tough matchup against Marc Gasol and company and as you can see the Domination Station has him projected to score the least of these three guys. My second option here would be Kawhi Leonard, the only problem with him is the Raptors have a lot of usage to go around with their first unit. With the addition of Marc Gasol, along with Lowry, Ibaka, and Siakam, there is a lot of mouths to feed in that offense. Jokic is the clear cut option here for me.
**UPDATE: Kawhi Leonard has been ruled OUT**
If you’re looking to create multiple lineups using your player pool, head on over to the Domination Station. This link will give you a quick tutorial on how to use the optimizer. The Domination Station is a great way to incorporate our projections with your own player pool to produce ideal lineups to help you play like an expert!
Tier Two:

Tier two is a little bit tougher, we get two Spurs and two Raptors to choose from. All these guys draw great matchups, one guy I’m going to cross off is Pascal Siakam. He averages the lowest points per minute of the four guys, so we can go elsewhere. My favorite option here is probably DeMar DeRozan who draws the Knicks. DeRozan is averaging around 35 minutes per game at about 1.14 fantasy points per minute. The Knicks also rank 21st in defense against opposing shooting guards. My second option here would be LaMarcus Aldridge, don’t be afraid of the questionable tag he is currently listed as probable. His home/road splits are a bit concerning given that he averages seven fewer points per game in road games. But, that shouldn’t keep you off of him in this spot, the Research Station likes him to score around 42 fantasy points in this matchup.
**UPDATE: Kawhi Leonard has been ruled out which makes me like Pascal Siakam much more than before. Siakam scored nearly 70 Draftkings points in the Raptors last game without Kawhi. Lowry is still a great play as well as he will see an increase in points per minute. Here is how things shake out for these two with Leonard off the floor this season…
- Kyle Lowry – 20.4% usage; 1.34 fantasy points per minute
- Pascal Siakam – 32.8% usage; 1.41 fantasy points per minute
Tier Three:

This tier is hard for me because I really want to go with Dennis Smith Jr. however I’m going to leave him for gpp only. If you’ve learned anything from my articles or coaching is that I love attacking the Spurs with point guards. The Spurs rank 29th against opposing point guards on the season and I feel like that gets overlooked. But, the fact that he could get “Fizdaled” and only play 20-23 minutes is a very real possibility. For that reason, my favorite play here is Lou Williams who is in the highest projected total game on the slate. The Nuggets rank 22nd against shooting guards on the season, Lou is in pretty good form as he has gone over 35 fantasy points in his last three games.

Tier Four:

This tier features a few good options for both cash and gpp. My favorite two are Jamal Murray and Danilo Gallinari. Jamal Murray can be a frustrating player to roster, but he’s in a good spot today. The Clippers rank 26th in defense against point guards and this is a pace up spot for Nuggets. Danilo Gallinari draws the best matchup of the starters, the Nuggets rank 28th in defense against opposing small forwards. It’s also a revenge spot for Gallinari, I don’t know how much it matters, but I’ll put it out there anyway. Gallinari has averaged 30 fantasy points per game against the Nuggets in three games this season, it’s not awful but we will look for him to be a little better than that today. For gpp’s, I like Paul Millsap who has gone for 45+ fantasy points in his last two games. The problem with him is inconsistent minutes, he averages 1.08 fantasy points per minute on the year but half the time doesn’t see 30 minutes.
**UPDATE: Kawhi Leonard has been ruled OUT, which makes me like Serge Ibaka a bit more. Here is how his usage and fantasy points per minute shake out with Leonard off the floor this season.
- Serge Ibaka – 26.9% usage; 1.51 fantasy points per minute
Tier Five:

I think if you’re going to take advantage of the Knicks point guards this is the spot to do it. Emmanuel Mudiay saw 26 minutes in his first game back on Friday and score 31 Draftkings points. As noted with Dennis Smith Jr. the Spurs really struggle against opposing point guards. The opportunity cost isn’t as high in this tier as it is with Smith, so I like Mudiay quite a bit here. If you don’t trust the Knicks, I also like Rudy Gay. Gay is in good form and has averaged 33 Draftkings points per game in his last 10 games. I also like Will Barton quite a bit here, he has been getting minutes around the 30 point mark lately and has scored 32.75 Draftkings points in this matchup earlier this year.
Tier Six:

I’m not going to put lipstick on the pig here, this is an ugly tier. This is where I turn to the Domination Station for help, where Mitchell Robinson is popping. He’s gone over 20 fantasy points in eight of his last ten games and is the one Knick who plays with consistency while he’s out there. Jeremy Lin has played well in his two games thus far with the Raptors, he won’t see a ton of minutes but neither will anyone in this tier other than maybe Patrick Beverley. Speaking of Beverley, he’s gone over 20 fantasy points in five of his last six games so you could do worse. The Clippers don’t seem to shy away from giving Landry Shamet minutes, the problem is he can be inconsistent with them. But, he’s in the highest total game on the slate so he might be at the top of my list in this tier.
